Man Utd Reach Agreement In Principle For Manu Koné! Baleba Latest
Right then, transfer window has really started to heat up.The journalists have woken up or finally recovered from the World Cup and it seems like there is starting to be some stuff really starting to land and break down. Now, it seems like The first thing, the first bit of news for us is that United have reached an agreement with Manu Kone. That's what's being reported.Carrera della Sport dropped this a few hours ago.Manchester United have reached an agreement in principle with Manu Kone's representatives and they are preparing an offer close to 50 million euros, which is about 42 million quid, which they're going to present to Roma.
Sky Sports have confirmed that United are now leading the race and have moved to the front of the queue. There's been a lot of speculation about Berg. There's been some more speculation today that Buleba is the alternative. Not really seeing many other names.Someone's suggested Wharton, but I don't think that's fan -led more than anything else. But it's obviously not a deal done.
Roma want 60 million euros, which is 51 million pounds. There's a little bit of difference in between the mix of there. And Al -Ali have quietly emerged as a bit of a threat from Saudi, which I thought we would be on this, but with Somerville going to Saudi for the money that he's just gone, I guess Saudi are still the massive threat to the transfer market that they were a few years ago.Let's be clear on this, Carrera dello Sport are reporting it via multiple English aggregators. They're not using this as their own sort of sourced material. The direct language is important, that contacts between the players entourage are ongoing.
Roma's sporting director is awaiting a decisive move from United and United are preparing an offer close to 50 million euros. But they're asking prices 60.That's their stated position.Correia describe it as a potential bargaining position and expect that the club will probably come down.10 million feels like quite a lot to negotiate, but the players desire, not necessarily the personal terms, the fee gap, you know, that's where we're at with it at the moment. Now, Roma do have some recent history.
They tried to sign Kone.Sorry, Atletico Madrid tried to sign Kone for 34 million just a couple of weeks ago.Roma rejected it.So now we're talking about United going in with, you know, an eight to 10 million increase on Atletico's rejected number.they're still saying it's not enough. That gives you a sense of how firm that they're going to go on it.
And the problem is you've got all of the other transfers that are happening this summer, whether it is Somerville to Saudi, you know, they can use that as leverage. There's a Saudi club involved and they'll pay more than you will, mate.So have some of that. You've got what Fernandes has just gone for to Spurs. You've got what Tenali has just gone from the Spurs, Rodgers and Anderson and all of this sort of stuff. Now, Carrera della Sport is a big source in Italy, but it's also aggregating it.
So we're waiting for the, the English sort of tier one reporters to catch up or someone to put their name to it rather than an outlet to put their name to it in Italy. Now, in terms of Kone, we have spoken about him, but just as a little bit of a catch up, 6 '1", French international, obviously currently at Rome, where they signed him from Munchengladbach two years ago, 20 million pounds. He's got a contract for a few more years. He had a pretty solid season from last year.He is the backup for Tuomeni in the French squad. Not a bad place to be, but that's where he is.
He isn't as good as Tuomaini in several areas, but that's the player that we're looking at at the moment. He did start ahead of Tuomaini a couple of games, but I don't know if that was just pure, you know, managing the energy and fitness of Tuomaini rather than like they think that he's on a par or even ahead of him.His stock has risen significantly over the course of last season and probably even over the tournament. He did have some decent performances at the World Cup, I think that's worth saying. And Roma's valuation isn't mental, to be honest.Especially when you see what people are going for over the summer.
he will still represent relative value at the price that he's being quoted at.Now, I do think his standout trait is the ball carrying from him.And that's something that United's midfield has probably been missing, I think. But he's not necessarily the full on defensive screen that we've seen.Certainly not the true main level of defensive screen. He can break a press by himself with his dribbling.
He does have good power, he's got excellent close control. He's got a nice physical profile about him, 6 '1", he's very athletic. He's got very good ground coverage. He does win plenty of duels and I think that's a big thing for our midfield. But I'm going to be honest with you, I still land on the side of preferring, not just because he's proven in the Premier League, the rest of the profile of someone like a Sanderburg.Kone is not a specialist destroyer.
He is a pretty intelligent ball winner. He does step into passing lanes, he does press quite aggressively, he recovers most of it through positioning rather than just smashing into people. He's pretty comfortable defending those big areas because of the pace that he's got, because he is fast. How would he fit in Carrick's midfield?I think you see Santos still as the young, energetic, energy option.Thielmann would probably be the one that connects and plays alongside him.
I think he would be like the physical carrier, like, he's not, again, he's not that specialist, not sort of number six.He would be a decent player for us.Now the problems, one is obviously the feeling, that's the biggest one, there's a big gap, 10 million euros between the two of us at the moment. Two, Al -Ali, that's not nothing.I think the Saudi pro clubs are a genuine threat to to any transfer negotiation at the moment. They could escalate it and make it a bidding war, make it outlaw.
before United get a chance to respond.Kone seemingly prefers the Premier League move which is good but Saudi money does have a way of shifting those preferences quickly.United were obviously linked with Somerville earlier in the window and now he's playing his trade in Saudi. And United aren't negotiating with money on our own. There are talks that Chelsea, Aston Villa, Liverpool and Arsenal have all been credit with interest in him.Crédit de la Sport specifically calls United the most likely bidder, but how do they know who's thinking about what when it comes to those transfers?
Anybody, including the Saudi clubs, could still hijack that deal if United didn't move on him.And like I said, what about Berg? For me, Berg is my standout candidate. If there's a straight shootout between those two, I would go with Berg.I think he's the most sensible, I think he's cheaper, I think he's...Kone's got a higher ceiling, obviously he's younger, he's got a longer trajectory there, but I think looking at the depth that you've got in a squad, I think Berg makes a hell of a lot more sense.
But Kone, not nothing, because agreement in principle is pretty powerful still.Agreement in principle means that United are trying to do the deal, if we take it at face value. It's can they get Roma around a table and put a number in front of them that they like. And like we said, Buleba. That's reporting has started to heat up now a little bit about Buleba. We was talking only a few days ago about there's nothing being said about Buleba, which might mean that United are in the middle of negotiating with him the way this summer has gone.
The way United have just kind of sprung up and gone, anyway, we've agreed a deal.Enjoy that.Because that's happened a couple of times, hasn't it, this season. If Kone falls through because of the Roma fee or Al -Ali, I think Berg could move back to the front of the queue, but obviously Buleba is being worked on at the same time as well.I think I'd probably go Berg, Kone, Buleba.Kone and Buleba is not a lot, they're very different in terms of how they play.
they play. But I don't know.I mean, what do you guys think?Let me know in the comments if you had a straight shootout.Because like, I think Kone's decent but he doesn't excite me.And weirdly, like Berg, for as plain Jane as he is as a player, I think he actually does excite me.
Let me know in the comments. We're going to be talking about Bruno in a second. In a bit.
