As many of the chums who watch Bi -Royal Appointment on a regular basis know, one of the things that I get very angry about is when you've been lucky enough to be given an award, you know, a celebration of the work that you've done.Recently, the actress Anne Reid picked up a CBE from His Royal Highness Prince William.I know Anne a little bit. She's a lovely lady and, you know, been a working actress for years.Brilliant in so many things.Probably more latterly known to a lot of people for the mega smash Sally Wainwright show Last Tango in Halifax.

0:34

But, you know, Valerie Barlow in Coronation Street, she's just done so much. And to me, you know, that's a nice recognition. She's done a lot of charitable work as well. But, you know, comedy, films, everything. She's gone across the board and was grateful to receive it, was grateful to be there, and I think that's the thing. You get these people, don't you, like the Michael Sheens, who, oh no, I don't want it, I don't feel comfortable with it, or Elvis Costello claiming, you know, it shouldn't have the words empire or whatever.

1:03

You think, oh, do shut up, you know, you're a nuisance. You took it because you wanted that particular PR.And that's what I've often said about the current British Prime Minister, Sir Keir Starmer. You know, literally on record saying, I'm not really a fan of the monarchy, but then bingo, offered a knighthood, Sir Keir Starmer. It's a bit like the failing mayor of London, Sadiq Khan. Can't wait to go there.

1:27

Not grateful, not gracious.Remember in his speech afterwards, myself and Charles were talking about, you know, who's the hardest working person. And you think, well, what have you done exactly prior to landing that freebie job?Nothing. The King has been the Prince of Wales in Wales for many years, represented us around the world.I thought, done a good job.

1:50

But no, suddenly it has to be, you know, the narcissism has to come back out and be that particular focus. One of the problems I often think about is the people at universities.with inside royal inner circles. And you can't always choose the right people. You know, you get pictured with people at various points in that job.And sometimes that can be a very quick picture.

2:11

Can we just do this? And suddenly that picture takes off a life of its own.Other times, of course, you can decide exactly how things look or work out. When you look at Harry, for instance, he got caught out spectacularly, didn't he?when basically he claimed he didn't know anything about this Daily Mail journalist and then bingo, you know, suddenly he's Mr. Mischief. And this is the thing, the stupidity of it.

2:34

You have to be sure when you're in the public eye, large or small, who you stand next to, who you're associated with. One of the things I always sort of agree about is that if you're in a particular function and you want to, you know, particularly if I was doing PR for somebody, I would say, well, who are you with? And when do we get a copy of that picture?Because ultimately you need to have a source trace, otherwise it can really explode. It's a bit like this man, the current leader of the Liberal Democrats, Edward J Davey. Now he purports this very nice avuncular image of oh just cuddly and you know I did all those stupid stunts when it was during the elections because you know I just wanted people to think differently about my party.

3:18

Well, he did, and they weren't really that bothered, to be honest. You know, think about it, over 100 years ago, the Liberal Democrats were a real, or the Liberal Party, should I say, then, were a real force.I mean, you know, now it's seen as, why bother?Because, you know, they may say they're doing well, but they're never going to reach power.Part of the problem with that also is that they do incredibly well money -wise, if you look at Mr Davies' salary and expenses. But then you look at the fact that this new signing tells you everything that you need to know about just how bad things are literally within royal circles.

3:52

Let me explain.Welcome back toto see you chums for another episode of By Royal Appointment.Lovely to have your company. You know what I'm going to say, we might as well get this out the way at the beginning. If you like and comment and share, respect, yes, after me, like, comment and share respectfully, we'll have a lot of fun.

4:10

We will have a lot of fun.And I do appreciate all the comments and all the shares and everything that you do.We are a group, as you know, a friendly group. It's our conversation and it's nice to see.And as I say, when I get the chance, and I do every day, I have a look at the comments.and see what you're saying and what you like and what we don't like and the comments and stuff, you know, that's friendship, isn't it?

4:30

You don't have to agree with everything. That's what I think. You know, I mean, I've got friends where I think, no, I'm not doing that.Or, you know, a friend was telling me the other day about getting a lawnmower and how I need to get up to date with it and basically get a cordless one, you know, and I said, well, mine's all right.Oh, you just sold fashion. And I thought they just want to spend money.

4:49

These people, you know, I think until it blows up, you know what I'm saying?Until I'm like looking one of the cartoon people with the black eyes and everything, I'm just going to carry on, you know, the thing.Yeah, yeah, yeah. This is the thing. We're allowed to have our moments, right? It's a bit like this.

5:03

This kind of shocked me in many respects, Chums.Because, once again, you look at, as I say, the Liberal Democrat leader, you know, Edward Davie. The sub -postmaster thing, just horrendous in itself. When you dig deeper, you think how these people have got the gall to come out and do what they're doing. It's incredible when you think, now they've got a new signing. That's right.

5:26

James Holt. Now James Holt, up until last December, was part of Archwell. And Archwell, as you know, didn't do particularly well.So you kind of think going from one failing brand to another. What's really interesting, and the biggest story for me is this, is when you look at somebody like Edward Davy, right, the Lib Dem leader. If you remember last September, when President Donald Trump came over here to Windsor,

5:50

for the second state visit, he, you know, grandiosely announced that he wouldn't be attending the state dinner because, you know, he didn't agree with President Trump, whatever. Now, think about this. He's Sir Edward Davy.Sir.So he's taken that particular, as I said at the start of the video, he took that particular award, nomination, whatever you want to call it, happy to take that, but not happy to support the King on an official state visit.Right.

6:19

I mean, this is the level. And then earlier this year, January, February, during the Prince Andrew debacle, he wanted, of course, and everybody to be looking into the line of succession. And you kind of think, right, OK, so clearly we're not really that much of a fan of the British monarchy. So why did you accept being a knight, a sir?You see, double standards. So the problem now, if you think about it, is this man, James Holt, who's decided to come back and re -embed himself inside the Lib Dems, as it were.

6:51

I think it's his communications.Well, when you think he's gone from working for the Sun, of the King, right? Now back to working for a party that clearly the leader has a lot of issues with regarding His Majesty the King and how the royal family operates. That's his prerogative. But why on earth would you want to associate with that? And again, you look at it and say, well, you know, why did you then disappear from Archwell, given the fact that it's failing?

7:19

You know, you lost Netflix.None of the deals are working out.The movies that you're allegedly making, you know, if it was so successful, why would you hire somebody who's not made a success of the previous job? That's my opinion. And these are the people also, in my opinion, that are very damaging to the monarchy because they're going right into the infiltrated moment and getting all of these secrets. And somebody like Mr Davy, again, Mr Davy,

opinion, would find those conversations quite useful. You understand? So, and I've met him, so I can say this, you know, not one of the most pleasant people, let me point that out.And what's interesting is that James Holt decided that this was the next big career move. You do have to ask yourself the sort of people that Harry and Meghan decide to associate them with.Of course, yeah, he'd worked with them before, and I'm sure he would have known, both Harry and Markle would have known exactly what James' move was next.

8:15

No doubt they had to give some kind of reference or nod or something of that level?Maybe not, who knows? But whichever way you look at it, it stinks really, doesn't it?And it just looks bad.And how can one of the main party political leaders be so disrespectful against, and as I pointed out recently, his constituency, Oxfordshire, decided that they wanted to take an injunction out to stop the flags, the British flags, celebrating our own successes in the World Cup.Incredible.

8:44

as ever something rather dramatic happened earlier this week chums oh yes no no not me opening my wallet that would be very dramatic indeed as you can imagine last opened it i think sometime in the late 80s but the thing is no something really strange and a lot of you asked me about it you know in the comments and said you know is this a normal thing um actually you know when you go it's to me it's one of the greatest free shows you can see when you're over here in the united kingdom and that is of course every morning the changing of the guard at both and Palace it's just really nice you know it's a tradition isn't it and when you sort of go and watch it you think oh yeah right you know this has gone on forever and you kind of think well you know now earlier this week they decided to cancel some of the changing of the guards and it's now back on I believe because the weather has now calmed down a lot of people were having to go at the guardsmen and stuff saying oh you know you're weak or this whatever listen you know this isthose very heavy uniforms on.They're not lightweight. And as we've seen at things like Trooping the Colour recently, you know, you get the guards that just collapse. The bearskins that they've got on are also incredibly warm, as you can imagine at this time of year.So the heavyweight of the suit, the boots, the trousers, which are wool lined, and also the bearskin, you can understand, they didn't want any sort of, you know, backlash from that.

10:05

And also what you have to remember is you can't win on these things, can you, when you think about it, Chums?Because if you don't cancel it and people start to pass out, then it's how cruel is this? You're not looking after people. If you do cancel it, you upset all the tourists that really want to see it.As I say, it's a sort of very rare thing, but apparently the temperature was very high and they had to take into the consideration the health and safety of everybody else. And a lot of you said, has this happened before?

10:32

It has.But many, many years ago in the there was a similar problem and a couple of instances in the 1930s.But then it seems to have all sort of petered out a little bit.Maybe we didn't have that sort of heat in the Junes or whatever.Although in 1976, yeah, yeah, maybe, yeah, we'd have to look at that. But it's interesting, isn't it?

10:51

Because obviously, as I say, you can't win. Now, it looks like it's sort of back to form, but I just wanted to share that with you.I spoke to the people in the Guards and they said, oh, no, you know, it's just because of the heat.Thought I'd share it with you.Another topic that's doing the rounds this week that I wanted to also highlight is the, as we know, the ongoing, will they, won't they, come back, whatever.I'm sure like me, I mean, do we really, you know, really?

11:15

I mean, I think it's a great circus. It's a lot of fun.We get a lot of enjoyment out of it.But really, you know, Markle returning is not like, say, Marilyn Monroe turning up to film The Prince and the Showgirl in 1956, is it?You know, you kind of think, yeah, in the scale of things, we're not too fussed, sister.I tell you what's interesting, though, it's the sort of story that circulate.

11:35

And the reason why I wanted to share this with you is, you know, if you do a little bit of research and digging and you speak to the right people, as I do, you just know that this is actually not the case. And this is one where, when apparently, you know, Harry and Meghan would have to put their devices up to be taken away once they got into the palace, or if they were lucky enough to meet His Majesty the King, they're certainly not going to be meeting Prince William.I can tell you that 100 % and basically the devices are you know checking for recording, iPhones, you know, whatever, Android phones, that sort of stuff. Is this the normal practice? This is the whole point of Buy Royal Appointment. It is.

12:14

What you do, if you're going for an investiture, for instance, you know, they all remind you to take the phones off, but also they're privately filmed. You know, you don't, you're not allowed to have your family member filming with the phone or whatever. So they're all set up in a video, you know, videographers there. So you come away with that.So you have no need for your phone. So that it's not disruptive.

12:34

so that people are not, you know, their phone going off at the pivotal moment. They're normally put in a pouch, you collect it at the end, all of that sort of stuff, right?I mean, it's just, you know.So would that apply to Harry?Well, according to my source, when Harry went over last September for that ever so brief meeting with His Majesty the King over, I think it was Clarence House, bottom line was that Harry very willingly submitted his, you know, phone or whatever, so that he couldn't be accused of anything going out.I think at that point, he really wanted to try and get some connection.

13:09

The only thing that he turned up in apparently was, you know, with the photos that he, in frames that he wanted to give to the King of his children, you see.And so the fact that if these two were to return, would they be forced to give their mobiles in and stuff?Well, yes, I think it would just be asked upon, but it's not sort of paramount.Again, you know, people,Ultimately, as I often say, it doesn't matter whether people surreptitiously record you.We all know about wiretapping and everything like that.

13:39

But you can't use it legally. In this day and age, of course, it could all go out, but it will be very easily traced back, wouldn't it?And it's often, you have to remember this particular statement, I always think as well, the late Queen, Queen Elizabeth, it was said, was very nervous to be in a room with either Meghan or Harry alone. And that would have stated the fact that even just an informal chat at one point, she would have just welcomed Harry in.It tells you a lot about the state of affairs of what was going through her mind because, you know, look at how close they were, what he managed to get her to do on video with the Obamas and stuff. So now, for that to change where you suddenly have to say, here's my phone, I've turned it off, and that the Queen was concerned about probably both of them, I would imagine.

14:24

You know, what if they were recording? But as I said, even though, you know, Queen would know legally, but we all know how things get out.So to just sort of counteract that, yes, it would be removed, but it would kind of almost be that you'd have to do it voluntarily. You wouldn't necessarily, can you turn your, you know, here it is so that everybody knows we're all playing from the same song sheet, as they say.

14:49

Another piece of news that emerged this week was that Air Miles Andy is now back, according to the headlines. This is, of course, Andrew Mountbatten -Windsor and a jaunt paid for him by a private individual over to the south of France. Now, I don't know about you, I don't particularly have a problem with that. You know, he's now a free agent. He can do what he wishes. And if they decide that they want to pay for him to do that, really, is it any of our business what you want this guy to do?

15:16

Just remained holed up in Marsh Farm forever.Of course, you know, The bigger problem, and this is the huge problem now facing someone, is that obviouslytipped off the media. There was a really sort of intricate byline of exactly how and where and who he met and where he went. Now, I have an excellent source up in that particular area and they assure me that there are definite leaks coming out of when he goes out, where he goes, the horse riding, that sort of stuff. You're never truly alone when you're in a position like that as a member of the monarchy.

15:49

somewhere is tracking you, looking, you know, etc. I believe that's why Prince William likes the electric scooter, you know, he can get through very quickly in Windsor before people have even spotted him. This is now not the same for the 66 year old former Duke of York, you get the picture. But I think, you know, when you look at these sort of particular stories, my argument really is, does it really matter now what he's doing? You know, I mean, clearly, most people still wanting to come forward and he wants to come forward and clear his name. There's still an ongoing investigation with the Thames Valley Police and the British Metropolitan Police. But that really, I would say, will surmise into nothing more than a bit of a slap wrist and you shouldn't have spoken to this person.

16:30

It will all get lost, particularly now as the government are changing over, you understand. That will be, well I spoke to that person, it all works in the end in their favour and I don't see this coming anywhere. With regards to the Earl Miles Andy, do we really care?I'd love to know what you think in the comments below.Likewise, you may have noticed this particular story. And the reason I highlight this is, this is, of course, Carly Fortune, the lady who hit the news a couple of years back now when it emerged that her book, Meet Me at the Lake, was going to be going under the Archwell Productions umbrella.

17:04

And this was going to be made into a spectacular movie.Fast forward a few years and, no, there's nothing really happening and she's not quite sure and all of that sort of stuff. Now, what's interesting about this is, and this is a thing really when you notice earlier.I think it was earlier this year, the cookie queens that Meghan and Harry attached themselves to, that came and went very quickly. You know, it didn't really manifest into anything. And also, it's more of a sort of an educational film.

17:31

Really, to go to Sundance with that was a bit of a strange thing. The people who bought it in the end were a little bit sort of, you know, not exactly the big, big studio hitters, were they? Now, Meet Me at the Lake was and is and remains a successful book. And she got a lot of PR out of that. You know, let's be honest, who'd heard of this author outside of that world?I certainly hadn't.

17:53

But what's interesting is and what you'll notice is how she's distancing herself from the project and from that particular situation. That's because she's now got new product. She wants people to focus on that. And ultimately, when you have a situation like this, what you have is where people just keep asking you. Now, actually, Meghan and Harry have put this young lady lady in a really unfortunate position, because unless they draw a line on it and say, oh, we've now decided we can't get funding or we can't find the right cast or whatever, this is going to haunt this particular author for many, many months, maybe years to come.People will ask what happened to it.

18:32

So what she's trying to do, and this is the thing about marketing, but I often share with you chums, is nip it in the bud herself by basically saying, I don't know them.I don't really see them.I'm not really involved in that side of it.So she's not going to be hands -on.Now, normally when an author gets her property sold, there can be clauses in the deal of, do you want to help with the casting, give us your vision, how would you like it?No.

18:57

Seemingly, Carly has decided that she wants focus on her latest product, and rightly so.But what she's trying to do is to get you off the product that was very much waved as a huge flag. The problem for her is nobody wants to move away from that.Harry and Meghan, in my opinion, should now stepforward and actually give a very fair and firm update about where they are.But seemingly, do they even know that it still exists?

19:23

I mean, let's be honest. What's the other one?No way out.Big splash. And then, of course, we've got Markle's cameo coming up in a movie in September. So really, will all of that just be lost in the usual mire of good idea, great publicity?

19:37

And then when it comes to it, nobody seemingly can remember exactly what it was about.Carly though, as ever, is left facing the music. That's normally what happens when you get involved. When you think about it, with the likes of Harry and Meghan, they coast off on to the next thing.Meanwhile, you're left delivering the remnants. Now, of course, the big story at the moment is the alleged arrival of the Sussexes back over here to the United Kingdom.

20:03

And everybody's getting really excited in certain sections of the media, at least, because now it's apparently being confirmed. And as I mentioned previously, it's interesting, isn't it, how every now piece of their itinerary is being leaked.because they're desperate to make sure that they get some kind of audience when they, if, how, and should they ever return.Let me just give you a bit of forewarning, though. You know, this isn't the done deal, remember, because we've been down this path before, particularly with La Marcle. You know, she loved the idea of basically, I'm coming to the coronation.

20:34

No, I'm not coming to the coronation.I might be now.I'm baking a cake for my son, Archie, you know, that sort of stuff. She just loved all of that. This is what she thrives on.This is the water.

20:45

the oxygen to this person.Because when you've never had fame for your talent, if you can just be written about, then that's wonderful. As I said in a recent video, whether you like somebody like Madonna or a leading actress or not, at least they're putting something out there to say this is my talent. What have we actually seen of Meghan Markle's talent to really get so many worldwide headlines? She's wrecked her family, she'swrecked her own family.

21:11

And she's made an impossible sort of situation by herself with anything resembling some sort of a Hollywood career. She is an unmitigated disaster if you wanted to put it into brutal terms.I can't imagine why anybody other than a bit of free publicity would want to hook up with this ex -Royal and cable TV actress. You know, there's nothing to be gained other than a bit of free publicity.Felicity, of course, as I said, she thrives on this.Behind the scenes, though, you may think, oh, this is going really well.

21:41

And, you know, all the distract look you don't know now, as I pointed out recently, you know, at the time of recording that there was a situation where they could have still had accommodation at Buckingham Palace. And again, St. James's Palace. But as I pointed out also, this was something a bit tricky for Markle. She didn't like that idea, you know, Buckingham Palace too exposed. Now, what's also interesting is the fact that whatever you may think about the Prince of Wales, Prince William, he is standing his ground. Now, in the way it works within royal protocol, he can't really do too much, right?

22:17

The ultimate decision always lands with the monarch. It's just something that's gone on.He's pledged his allegiance him if you remember at the coronation with that kiss that's what happens so you can kick off even as family members but ultimately if the king says that's what we're going to do then that's what we're going to do for the moment. One area though that William did win upon was simply this and this is one really that Markle pushed very very hard for and I know this for a hundred percent fact right Megan is that basically she wanted not to be where they've suggested which is up in Sandringham but actually in Windsor. She thought that would be more convenient perhaps even using the Royal helicopter to fly over.to Birmingham.

23:06

Yes, you've got no idea what's really going on behind the scenes. The problem is, as we all know, Chums, you give these people an inch, they take a mile. You know the famous saying. And behind the scenes, this is getting, as I say, very indelicate. There's a bigger reason, though, why Le Markle can't stand the idea of Sandringham.Have you worked it out yet, as they say in all the best children's TV series?

23:28

Well, that's right. This man, the disgraced Duke of York, Prince Andrew. And this is because, as we know, he's residing at Marsh Farm on the Sandringham Estate. Now, there's already a sort of selection of photographers, local newsmen there on a daily basis.I know that for a fact.I know quite a few of them.

23:46

And ultimately, they're just waiting for Andrew to come out. This is bread and butter for them.Right.You know, the fact that Markle now could be forced to go and stay there. She doesn't want to stay there. This is still rumbling on behind the scenes.

23:58

It's not a done deal, trust me.And the thing about it is that she doesn't want to be associated with anything, and neither does Harry, with the now disgraced Duke.Uncle, yeah?Uncle Andrew.I thought she was best friends with Eugenie. You see how this all goes, right, Chums?

24:13

But what's interesting is she hated the fact that earlier this year she was also aligned to the fact that, you know, she was being compared to Sarah Ferguson, Freebie Fergie.Fergie, as we know, total disgrace. We all know that particular story. And I think what's interesting about that is the fact that clearly now, whether you like the king or not, I think this isn't a bad move.As I said, you know, she really, really wanted the idea of Windsor.William can control that because his family are on the Windsor estate alongside Catherine the Princess of Wales.

24:47

And can we just take a moment out actually to sort of feel a bit, I mean I like Catherine, I'm not being unbiased about that, I really like Catherine, but I think poor lady, you know, I mean she can't do anything, it's the King, it boils downto that I tell you what's interesting though and this is from an excellent source Camilla is having none of it I mean, whether you like Camilla or not, right, she's having none of it, chums. And so whatever private meeting it may be and all this sort of stuff, I think this is going to be a mitigated disaster for all concerned, because it's just not going to work out well. The other side of the coin, really, though, is can you imagine Markle now ensconced up into that particular area alongside one of the most infamous members now of the British monarchy?Doesn't exactly bode well at every single news item will link the two. She, being a little bit more savvy than Harry, will be already aware of it.

The thing is, she just doesn't know what to stop to do it.This is, though, one of the many requests and demands that will be unfolding, and trust me, I'm on cloud nine.top of all of this stuff for you, first and exclusive. But behind the scenes, Sandringham, she's hoping, will slide away. And I wouldn't imagine her not holding out on this until the 11th hour. The thing is, William won't crumble.

26:07

Even if the King says they have to, William won't crumble on Windsor. That is 100 % for sure.As ever, chums, thank you so much for joining me by Royal Appointment, if you can. It's baking out here, chums, if you can. Please do like, share and, of course, comment respectfully.Until next time, do take care of yourselves.
