So following the killing of Nemesio Ruben Osguera Cervantes, known as El Mencho, who is the longtime leader of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel, all of their affiliates started unleashing widespread violence across multiple states including Jalisco, Colima, Michoacán, Guanajuato, Nayarit, and tons of others. This led to flight cancellations, roadblocks affecting access and shelter in place advisories from the US State Department, Canadian Embassy and local authorities for Jalisco and other regions there.

In response to this, the Mexican government forces, including army and naval units have deployed heavily into Puerto Vallarta to restore order and counter the attacks and there's been videos and reports coming out on February 23rd of military convoys, Mexican naval aviation UH-60 Mike, Black helicopters, and tons of other government forces in general deploying to the region in order to be a show of force to secure these key areas, protect civilians and tourists, and prevent further cartel escalation in the region.

Even though the Jalisco New Generation Cartel have threatened to start targeting civilians, possibly tourists and others and escalating their already violent response.
