Ancient Civilization. Oh boy. Yet again, as with every time I play Build and Seek, I'm the last one to finish, or even start. Everyone has finished.

I've not started. Maybe I should re-evaluate my schedule. Okay. I see we're not limited to the confines of our plot anymore. Let's just remind ourselves of our theme. So we've got ancient civilization.

Now this could be anything from like the Greeks to the Egyptians to the Mayans, something like that. Or I could go even further back to really ancient civilization like the Neolithic era. However, I think it might be more fun to keep this in Minecraft. So we're actually gonna hop into a single-player world because there's an ancient civilization in Minecraft Okay, well I spawned

something in Minecraft for a build and seek video but here we are if I had to theorycraft here and I am going on absolutely nothing but gut raw handsome instinct I think what happened here is that this was an advanced civilization that they were experimenting with redstone because if you go under here look they've got all these like experiments with redstone this is like a laboratory of some kind and they opened up this portal now I believe that this block here used to be called portal frame it's called reinforced deep

slate now I think this opened and let out the wardens and the skulk which has clearly Infested this area whether this was all underground before or it was on the surface and it's been buried I don't know, but I want this area before The wardens arrived, so I'm gonna take a look at what we've got for the ancient city They've got these pathways almost aqueduct what we've got for the ancient city. They've got these pathways, almost aqueduct like. We've got buildings made of deep slate.

Little houses, individual houses. We've got towers. We've obviously got the main portal. My plot is not very big, so I don't know how I'm going to pull this off at all. Right, let's take this all in and head back to my plot and see if I can fit this in a tiny spot. Right, with any build, it can be really difficult to know where to begin.

And I know it sounds really stupid, but I like to start with the floor and the walls. And it doesn't even need to be the block you're going to finish it with either. Right, deep slate. All right, that's already helping. So this is going to be my underground segment. This, I think, is going to be some kind of... I think this is gonna be some kind of redstone laboratory. Right, I'm gonna set that to glass for now. Oh, goodness. So what I've done with all my other build and seeks is some kind of gimmick.

And today's no different, and I'm reusing the same gimmick from my part of the Nautilus race on Hermitcraft, where I will be having a warden in my base, and he's gonna give darkness. There we go. So when they're looking for me, they're actually not gonna be able to see everything. So what I'm gonna do is do some dirt scaffolding, lay out what I want everything to look like, and then go ahead and build it. So again, if you're stuck on where to begin when you're building, one of the best things you can do is just lay out a basic shape in dirt or in some sort of scaffolding block

to give you an idea of the shape and direction that you're going with. So for example, right now, this isn't exactly what I want, but I know that I want a portal roughly around here. I accidentally made that relatively the correct shape. It's not in the right place, but it doesn't matter. So we're gonna have the portal there like a fresh version of the warden portal or whatever it's called. We're gonna have probably a house or two. So we have a house either side. So we're gonna have our path going here. And maybe we'll have those aqueduct type things

running through here. Yeah, so we've got all the elements of the deep dark. So we got the houses, we've got the aqueduct, and then I think what we'll do is have a couple of pillars that flank either side of our very important portal. Okay, so all of a sudden, we've got a layout. And then underneath, I think that's a separate part where we're going to do the laboratory. But for now, let's take this and turn it into something. Because it's very symmetrical, and because we already got an art direction

I really think I can throw this together pretty quickly and considering. I've only got a couple of hours before we record That's a good thing all right. Let's turn this into a time-lapse and let's go Okay, in two hours, I have managed to build the ancient city. I've got, I'll be honest with you, I have just flipped it. It is just symmetrical. I don't care I don't care. I'm gonna have time. So I've got well my interpretation of a house the Ancient city like there's any walls left and for some reason for this build

I've imagined the people that used to live here were really really tall So I've gone for extremely slender houses, and in my very lacklustre interior, what I've done is made chairs that are ridiculously tall to make you feel a little uneasy. So this guy, and they love looking at paintings, I can tell you that. So the guys who lived in the ancient city, they sat here. whoever lived in the ancient cities are now the Endermen in some way. And I don't know why, that's just the way I've gone. So the bed is here, and it's like up against the wall. I've added a few hiding spots, just mostly red herrings to be honest. And over this way, I've got just a room full of paintings and a weird seat. But down here, this little corner, this is where the magic's gonna happen.

I've got half an hour to put together a basement. Now what I'm gonna do, and I hope this works, I'm going to put a bunch of wardens under the ground. And I don't know whether, if I name them, they shouldn't disappear afterwards. Okay, right, so I'm going to put warden in here. Silence me does not work. Okay, well, it doesn't matter. live under there. Now this needs to be wool so that it doesn't activate. So we've confirmed that these guys are going to leave. So this is basically literally a black room and I mean it's gonna be a little bit devious I'm gonna make it a really simple maze so I'm just gonna add some walls right so the way you come in is here they obviously need to be able to get out again so it's annoyed. I don't even know if I'm actually going to hide in here. It's just basically a time wasting opportunity. All right,

so essentially, if I hide in that corner of the room, they're going to have to try and find their way back. All right, I'm not, I'm literally not going to make this very difficult at all. Don't wanna make it too easy. Alright, I've cleared- oh gosh. Oh my gosh. Yeah, you can't actually see. Hold on. Let's undo for a second. Let's give some basic light, I think. Maybe I can do a few creepy, like, lanterns that are floating. They don't lead the way, but they give you something to latch onto. A tiny bit of light here or there. So, I've added some lanterns. Let's now clear the effect and put myself in survival mode again. Let's see how this changes.

I managed to make this in about three hours, and turns out some really good hiding spots, and I didn't go too over the top this time is the main thing. In all the other videos, I built way too much, and it took way too long.

It was overcomplicated. I kept things a bit smaller with some more obvious spots, like there are just holes to go. Um, probably should have play tested it, but this is what you do when you leave your homework to the last minute. but this is what you do when you leave your homework to the last minute.
