Multiple People Treated For Injuries After Building Collapse In Sydney | 10 News

A number of people have been injured after a building collapsed in inner Sydney.Matt Canellan is live on the scene.Matt, what's the latest?

And good afternoon.It's been a chaotic morning here.I'm on Wattle Street in Sydney's CBD.I'll just take you over here to have a look at what's going on.You can see that there is a four -storey building just behind me that has partially collapsed at the back of that building there.I'm right next to a Shell service station and seven people were treated here at the scene for their injuries.

Two of them were taken to hospital in a serious condition.However, I can tell you also that everyone here has been accounted for.So there is nobody trapped or missing as a result of this incident.11 o 'clock this morning.Of course, Fire and Rescue, police and ambulance were all called here to the scene.Fire and Rescue are now working to try and make sure that this site is safe.

35 people were evacuated from the immediate vicinity and up to 100 people in the building behind it, which I'm told is a commercial building.They have all been sent home for the day.Fire and Rescue spoke a short time ago with an update.Let's have a listen to what they had to say.

At the moment, Fire and Rescue is working to ensure the site is safe.is as safe as possible before making any attempt to hand it back to the owners of the building.We've got specialist urban search and rescue firefighters in attendance.We also have our remote pilot aircraft system or ARPAS or drones to assist us.The good capability of that, that allows us to access dangerous sites without putting firefighters at risk.At the moment there's no reports of anybody missing at this stage.

We're just working to make sure that that information is correct.

Of course with the presence of petrol and gas here the safety of people and of this site is the imperative at the moment.I can tell you two news that I've just heard that of the two injured people one was a customer at the service station who was in fact getting back into their car just behind me and another was apparently sitting in a car just behind me.the car park when that building collapsed.And of course I'll have a little bit more on this later on in the news at 5enge.
