21 hours is how long it usually takes me to get home from Germany to Vietnam. Let's break it down. My trip started at 10am in Germany. I finished packing and headed to the airport. It's about an hour away and with all my heavy luggage, I have to take a taxi, which is really expensive. My flight is at 2 so I have plenty of time to check in and everything is actually still chill. The real challenge starts once I'm on the plane. It's a 10-12 hour direct flight and after hour 4, I've already watched everything that could distract myself.
My body hurts, my legs so numb and I feel like maybe I should consider layover next time. Since it's New Year in Vietnam, the airport is really crowded so once I land, it takes about 50 more minutes to get through immigration and grab my luggage. At this point, I haven't slept for 16 hours and still I have 5 more hours to go. I take a taxi to the train station and jump on a 3-hour train to my hometown. At least on the train, I can lie down which feels amazing after sitting all day and I even have very cute neighbors so I'm not complaining. My parents don't have a car so when I arrive at the train station, I take a 30-minute taxi ride and then I'm finally home.
