We have just awoken to the smell of bacon on my 50th birthday and that's already the best start to the day that anyone could ever ask for. Oh good morning! Thank you! Thank you! We've even got a special table in for breakfast. I can't believe we're in the dining room for breakfast! Birthday wish come true! What was that wish for? Yeah, you in my kitchen putting baked beans into a tureen. And do you know what? I think if we ask globally, that will be quite a lot of people's birthday wish as well.
Everyone looks beautiful and sunny and lovely and everyone's in the kitchen and the kitchen's back.
You have been the happiest today.
It is the best start to my 50th year. Mini, I didn't realize you were here.
Whoa, hello, hello, hello darling.
What, mommy, they haven't even finished
putting everything out and you're off.
Look at that, you see? Is this?
Oh my God, there's a queue.
There's no time to waste, she's got a 50 year old daughter! oh hash browns as well! oh wow okay yeah no fair enough. okay i'm getting a plate i'm joining in. all that work and we've got ourselves a greasy spoon.
that's exactly what i wanted i'd have put a lot of work into getting a greasy spoon
at home.
this is above and beyond i can't believe it.
it's lovely. But we all went to bed at like four last night. So I can't believe you're here cooking this morning.
Oh yeah.
I don't know what to say.
I was worried you'd forget the number.
Because of my age. Now my great age. It's an id memoir. Every morning I should wake up to look at that.
Philip is really afraid, I'm going to frame it.
Really afraid.
Put it up on his side of the bed. I'm pretty lucky to know you all. We're feeling a bit emotional, I've been crying half the morning for no reason whatsoever. You're all marvellous.
Fat.
Well done, Andrew!
Woo-hoo!
Well done, Michael! Well done Andrew! Woohoo! Well done Michael!
Well done Honey!
I have got a sausage sandwich
and a bacon sandwich of all sorts of delicious things Nice cup of tea I'm not trying to rush anybody
but I've got a second son coming in I live in a mad house
Well you do, you do, without a doubt
Look at you! She's so gorgeous I've got a second son coming in. I live in a mad house. Well, you do, you do, without a doubt. Look at you.
She's so gorgeous. And I think Galahad thinks so too, which is probably why she's taking refuge on your knee.
Oh, are you trying to get...
I don't believe it.
Did you see that?
He is...
Galahad just jumped onto the chair. I just hugged this person! I thought it was mummy, it's got mummy's head on! But it was a lot harder! It doesn't have that mummy squint! Oh this is the worst! Stop it! Well this is very sad, I don't like to see you go. And my only consolation is you're coming back next week.
Yay!
I know, isn't that awful?
And thank you for the hardship of staying for full English breakfast.
Oh, no one in the back, are they?
Thank you for the modelling.
That's okay.
There, darling, it is now. Now you can open.
Oh, it's like the Queen suddenly appearing. Bye, bye. Bye. now you can open it. Oh it's like the queen suddenly appearing. Bye bye! Yesterday Philip launched the brand new Jarvis Jansen collection to our patrons. It is the most romantic collection and he did it especially for my 50th birthday and Joseph turned out very impromptuly to be one of our finest models here at La Land. So we'll go back to yesterday and tell you a
little bit more about what Philip did whilst I go in and get ready to open my presents. I'm about to do a photo shoot with Philip because we're about to launch his Jarvis Janssen autumn winter collection that he made especially for my birthday and there is an incredibly romantic story behind why he chose what he chose but to tell you about that we're going to go upstairs to the bedroom. I'm really excited because it's
the first time I'm not doing you know a product or a scarf based on your father's work but it's
still very personal because it is the fabric that we've got on our bed crown.
We were at the big antiques fair in Bordeaux when Philip spotted this actually in one of the stalls that we were in. And I fell in love with it the minute I turned around. This dates from the early 19th century and it's in really beautiful, beautiful condition.
And what I love the most about it is the story. It's about love and friendship. You can see that there is time and Cupid and they're on a boat together. They're on the boat here and on the boat here. And here Cupid is in charge. He's the one rowing and he's rowing towards the temple of love and above the temple of love it says, love makes time pass.
Because when you're madly in love in the early stages of relationship, time, time disappears completely. You can spend a whole night together, it feels like one minute and you can't believe it's morning yet. So love totally conquers time. Unfortunately, over here, you can see that time has taken control of the oars and love has fallen asleep. And it says, time makes love pass. And the temple of love on this side is In ruins. I love the detail that the word love is actually the ruined word love
That was originally up here. It's fallen. It's upside down Love is totally vanquished and that's because that state of being madly, madly, madly in love doesn't last for an entire lifetime. Time always wins in the end. Though I think that with my aunt and uncle, that time actually didn't do his job. And I'm hoping with us, time also won't do his job. But the moral of the story is in a different part of the drawing. You can see a woman and her faithful dog by her side. Now, actually actually a dog was always a symbol of matrimonial
bliss because it's a symbol of fidelity and love that lasts forever and just behind her you can see it says friendship has nothing to fear from time. Friendship lasts forever and you can see the eternal flame of friendship behind her untouched by time. And as Phillip and I embark on a lifetime together, it's wonderful for us to know that as well as having fallen madly in love, we're also best friends. We have the same passions, we have the same interests, we love all the same things.
Kat used to call us yin and yin rather than yin and yang.
Yeah, Kat always said, the problem with you two is it's just yin and yang but that is what lasts forever. I love this so much.
It's really nice because it's the first thing we see when we wake up and the first thing we see when we go to bed. Last thing we see when we go to bed. I managed to find more pieces of fabric from the same background because obviously this one's quilted so I didn't want to have to digitally remove all the single quilts. Michael Griffith red it. So that way we've got a really good quality version of it that's digital to be able to
print it beautifully.
It is so beautiful. It's the most beautiful message and the most beautiful twirl and I love everything that you've made with it. But before I show you what Phillip's created, here we have the great artist at work on the design. Can you show everyone how you're working
on it? I can, yes. I was sent a sample of fabric by you. Actually it was only a scan of some fabric. Yeah. But unfortunately the pattern was incomplete. So, I mean you do have the full pattern, it's on your bed? Yeah it's on the bed. So you can't, no that's it, you can't get it off. I'll take it to the office and scan it. So we had to do something else. So I looked online, there are a lot of different versions of this, all very slightly different, different colours, different patterns, slightly different. So in order to find the original design as it
was done by the artist, I had to go into the archives of online archives of a museum and I managed to track down a scan of the original drawing which I'm about to show you.
And when does it date from?
So this design was first the first drawing was done in 1816 So it's of the Georgian era and that's of this era that Spode were first bringing out those beautiful transfer into Printed plates with you know, things like the the Tiber pattern, the Rome pattern, all of that. Yeah so this was happening in France while Spode was really getting started. And that was the era of the beautiful engravings, those pastoral scenes with different things. And this is one of the early ones. This is the original. Now the problem is if you zoom in it's it just goes pixelated. Yeah. Which is no good for brilliant printing. And it's in it's it just goes pixelated which is no good for brilliant printing and it's
obviously it's brown it was done with pen and ink but you can see all the beautiful design and you can even see that it originally would have been white because what the artist has done they've made a mistake so they've used kind of like the old-fashioned version of tipex with a bit of white paint which show this paper's faded but the paint hasn't. So it was a white paper? It was a white paper. And what they've done here, which is really interesting, is you've got the sort of main tile of the pattern. And what they've done, he's drawn with pencil
the repeats, the edges of the repeats. So they can see exactly where the repeat comes in. Yeah, and here, there's more of these corrections here. So actually, no, it isn't pencil, but he's done a blue line. I had to then try and basically draw over this, which it takes a long time.
And you use this.
This little tool.
Clever.
This little magic pad. So then you could then use whatever colour you want. So we'll just do it in like this sort of raspberry color for now, just to get an idea. And then we could just literally draw over the pattern for hours and hours. Then we can just do like that, these little hatches. So when I remove the background layer, you actually, although the opacity is wrong on this, you will actually, as you build up, you'll actually have the copy of the pattern. So there are quicker ways to do it, but I've tried and it's just, you lose a lot. So after maybe two weeks, you could end up with this.
That's what it took you? Yeah.
Two weeks to get to that? Yeah. There you go. You are a very patient man.
But look at the result.
It's superb. Absolutely superb, Michael.
There you go.
And I love the print.
I can't think of a lovelier print to be using.
The twirl fabric is actually, somebody has actually then taken that drawing and then they've copied it. So it changes and every manufacturer that may have done that pattern has their own version of it. So what we've done is we've gone back to the original, the definitive version from the artist's hand and just done an overdraw of that. So it's the original. Love it, absolutely love it. So there you have it. You've got different versions for different printings.
So that's a sort of a more of a heavier version. This is actually the colour that's on products at the moment. Yes, okay. Which is a lovely sort of very sort of autumn. Burgundy, yeah. Burgundy, really, really nice.
It could be infinite colours.
I mean, if I show you this, for example, now that we have the file sort of all drawn out, I could literally do this hue and saturation so we could change it to more purple.
Oh goodness, you can go through all the different colours.
Some colours it just doesn't work in and I think that's probably why originally these tiles they didn't use maybe yellows very often and things like that.
I think they also didn't have stable pigments at that time.
Yeah.
But yeah, it gets lost, doesn't it?
It disappears as a yellow.
Green is strong.
Green is strong. As we go into the, I think, those sort of between that, the wine colour and the raspberry, and then also as we go into the blues, very nice. But also we can make it like...
Oh yes, monochrome it's very chic
monochrome but that's a grey at the minute so we need to adjust the levels
I mean that's really chic and I know Philip really wants a monochrome a black and white version it looks good this is a beautiful gown that Philip has created it's short this time because we've had long gowns before and Philip wanted to do something different to wear over jeans as well, but I love it so, so much. Although it's the Autumn Winter Collection, and that's why he's chosen these colours, I wanted to show you that it is still incredibly beautiful in summer, and I'm going to be wearing
this a lot in summer in the coming days. This time I am wearing the scarf. You can see the entire pattern on this, the whole story of love and friendship. And this is 100% silk. The gown is modal and that's why it's so light and floaty, and that's why Philip chose it for the gowns. But these are incredibly luxurious. You can have it as a simple throw. Very chic. Thank you. Or you can have it as a stole for the evening. And I love
the name that Philip's chosen because he wanted really Christmassy names. So this one is Claret.
You came up with that one.
I love that one.
So this is the red wine when you're having your meal. And the next color is Charcoal.
This is you.
Very nice.
It's really chic.
Oh, I loves it. Thank you for designing things that we want to wear because that makes it really fun for us.
Michael Mordred's getting better and better.
Also, you didn't see any leaves in the other evening dress.
You look amazing.
The scarf just towards the back, there at the store.
Oh, that photo is incredible. I felt it. I was like feeling so elegant. I think, oh! You look as though you're just walking into the Grand Hotel in Monaco. You know, I really wish people could hear the conversations between me and Philip. We come up with some silly, silly narratives.
Like scenarios.
What is the prompt?
You just checked into your hotel in Monte Carlo and you like the barman.
You don't have to go, you know.
You look.
Yeah, it's okay. I'm staying here, room number 305.
It's a suite, actually.
I think you are the man to show this to the world.
And your style, watch this.
Oh, how would you actually like it like that? The thing is, like, Anneliese, you're a natural model. You can basically just wear anything.
You've got style.
Black tie, nice white shirt.
Yeah, maybe one of your grandfather's brooches. Oh, you set it up. nice white shirt yeah maybe one of your grandfather's brooches oh oh oh
just keep going into his wardrobe and taking off his shoes
yes I would I didn't want to say it unless you did oh stylish very nice he's rocking it and the only thing is it very occasionally giving him ways that he's slightly too big
and he's about a link and a half taken out so I might have to take it down to the jaw
with some clever lint.
It looks so good.
His wrists have grown a little bit.
Ladies and gentlemen, I would like to present Sir Joseph on his way to the Academy Awards.
Joseph.
Oh, yeah.
It does look good on Ben.
It does.
It's definitely the first one, proper one for men.
And then you can do it like this as well.
Wow.
Yeah.
That's it. That's it. Summer chic and then with a winter coat.
Yes.
Sorted.
Absolutely beautiful from that.
And 100% silk. That's the nice thing. It's the biggest one we've ever done in our life.
So it's warm.
And it's not too hot in summer.
It's suits. And the shoes. And the watches.
All of it.
Oh look at, when it just goes in the breeze as well. Oh that's love isn't it? Someone to tie your scarf.
For couples who like to match.
Not that we've ever seen you two match have we?
Never.
Never.
It's a rare occasion.
Fantastic couple.
Oh la la. Oh le chic. Andrew these are so beautiful. I love them so much. Michael I think that Joseph is ready to come and watch F1 with you. Oh yeah. That's Monica.
The paddock is over there, the pizza over there, the champagne is there. Let's go to
the yacht. The beach afterwards. There we are. Just on the yacht. What's the very high-end luxury brand that does this
look isn't it? The French brand? Jarvis Janssen. That's it. There you go. You're in Monaco. There's a car going really fast. Can you get it on time? Get your scarf on. Go on, get that. Get it, get it, get it. There they go, the gentlemen of La Land, rocking the catwalk of the terrace. It is autumn winter 2025.
I would definitely know when you're going on a summer evening or when it gets a bit chilly or you could put it over some another layer in the autumn.
And that's quite a colored shirt.
Oh beautiful.
Just to show sizing.
Yes.
Because I'm quite a large human. There's still plenty of room. Whatever size you are you're
gonna you're going to
fit because you've had your mother in it yeah i've been wearing it a lot i love it but even just i love the way whilst everything else is going on you're literally just hanging out looking like that yeah yeah i think yeah i think it's a good model my great model like his father and his grandfather to get your own jerv Janssen scarf or gown just go to Jarvis Janssen dot com and if you use the code birthday you'll get free shipping if you're in the US, Canada, Europe or the UK and if you're as in love with the scarves as we are and you would
like one in each color we have a special bundle and it comes with both colors of scarf and if you buy both of those you get a free gown in the colour of your choice and that also includes free shipping in the US, Canada, Europe and the UK and half price shipping in the rest of the world. So that's great if you want one for you and one for your partner or you want both colours for yourself or if you want to put one aside as a gift for someone else they each come in their own box so you can keep them as gifts. Everyone is so excited about the scarves, all creatures are clustering around to see them, including this absolutely spectacular moth that, I mean at first glance looks like
tree bark, but really if you look closely it's almost the same markings as a snake, isn't it? The same kind of camouflage.
It's huge.
It's really, really huge. Can you just put your hand there?
I don't want to
scare it. It's massive. Beautiful. Embarrassingly I've had to get changed. I don't think it's a good start to 50 because I ate so much breakfast thanks to you, Andrew and Michael. I couldn't stay in my dress. No but that's fine. It's much better news than if you had wet yourself. Oh! Mummy, that's 60. Okay, we've got that to look forward to. But look, I decided to match you. And we come in here because apparently there are some presents for me to open.
It's very humbling.
Look at that with the peacocks! And it's from, we want to wish you a very happy 50th we look forward to be on this crazy adventure with you for the next 50 Steven Sarah oh my goodness it's a wooden board of Daddy's tiles oh look at that Wow I can't believe it and it gives us an idea of what it's going to be like in the kitchen now. That is just amazing. I love it. Look, look, they're fencing there. They're
going around the maple over here. There I am with a flower. He looks like a big boy. I think that he must have, Steve must have added that in. There's one at the other side, look. Yes, at the other side there's another one.
Oh!
Thank you, I love this so much, thank you. I love it.
Oh my goodness, this is from Patrick and Stuart!
I love it!
Patrick and Stuart must have dropped this off when they were here. Darling Stephanie, we're wishing you a happy birthday and an amazing year. We're so grateful to you and Philip with our love, respect and deep admiration. Patrick and Stuart, encloses the fragrance recipe for your candle. Oh, am I? The Stephanie custom candle recipe. Soy wax with the following fragrances, oak, moss and amber, suede and smoke, cashmere, plum and English rose. And it's Michael Petherick behind the camera at the moment, which is why I'm looking at him, because you love scents as much as
I do. Doesn't that sound unbelievable? Yes, it sounds like you. Cashmere and English rose. Oh, what a lovely colour. It's a beautiful colour, a beautiful content and the smell is amazing. It's beautiful. Now that is beautiful. It's very layered. Chateau de Coulombe custom scented hand poured soy candle stephanie. Amazing. I like the colour too. The colour is gorgeous. I'd wear that like a shot. We've got to go and sit in our room. Oh this is beautiful. I love it. I love it. Beautifully made. We've just come upstairs from opening my presents downstairs and I just didn't realize there was going to be another gift because Philip gave me
my present this morning and it's the earrings that I'm wearing now that I absolutely love. I gave you a midnight actually. Yeah you did because we were up actually really late editing yesterday's Chateau D'Ares. I got to bed at 5am last night. We're both quite frightened we have a five hour journey ahead of us because we are going away for my birthday. I wanted to be here with all of the family in the morning, and then I thought it would do us a lot of good to just have two days, complete solitude, I won't be filming anything,
I won't be posting any videos for the next two days. So Tuesday, Wednesday will be nothing. Video will start again as usual on Thursday. We were wondering where to go. We knew it couldn't be that far because we only have two free days. So I was thinking in France is the best thing. And a lot of the places I wanted to go to are in the South,
but with the heat wave that we've had recently, I didn't want to risk being as a 45 degree heat. So we thought we would go north and then we realised unbelievably because I've been living in France for 20 years now that neither of us has been to the Champagne region of France. So we're going to go there this evening, we'll have a nice meal tonight and then have two very relaxing days just exploring the Champagne region. I cannot wait. But before we go, I have another present from Philip
to open. Apparently all of my patrons know what this is because Philip made a Patreon video showing it and I haven't been allowed to look. That looks like... Philip, it's the toucan set! You didn't. Is that... Oh my goodness! Does it remind you of anything? I'm gonna cry. I'm just, I'm, I'm just gonna look at all of this first and then I will tell you why. Oh my goodness. Okay, the egg cup. There's another egg cup. If only you ate eggs, we'd be sorted.
Look at that.
It's basically a little set for two of your favorite Hermès set. Two plates. I've never had plates. And I'm saying I've never had plates because I have
more of this set. And that's why I'm so moved by this because it was a gift from the elusive Nick and my parents on my 21st birthday because I loved it so much. So my huge 21st birthday present were two cups and saucers, a little milk jug, actually similar to this one, a little bit smaller I think, and a teapot. And I have absolutely treasured it ever since. And I haven't shown it here because it's in London because it's for two people. So it's a really tiny set and I can't use it here. Now it's a breakfast set for two because look, there
we go. I mean, I know that you won't use that but there we have it. And then here and I love the placemats. And the napkins with it. Go like that. And we can have milk and sugar.
Should something else be in there still? That is. I thought for like pain au chocolat. Or if I'm
feeling healthy an avocado. Oh absolutely. Several avocados. Very good. Lemon for a healthy lemon tea in the morning. This is just gorgeous. And are these matching? for a healthy lemon tea in the morning. This is just gorgeous. And are these matching? Are they part of the same set?
They are.
They look different. So that's what, oh yeah, I see what you mean.
They're napkins.
Yeah, look, it's the same kind of um circles as here. Right, so it'll be like this. I'm so looking forward to going away today, but I sort of wish I could take my my own Crockery with me because I want to wake up tomorrow morning and eat from that because I love it so much
So I'm sure you can't wait to see it with the other stuff that your mother and Nick bought
When we go I love it. I just love yeah, if you wait one second you did not you brought it back
Oh you angel!
I can see it all together.
I'm marrying the right man, aren't I? But it's exactly what the toile says. We really do have everything in common. We love the same things. Actually, you don't love this set as much as I do.
This is not your favourite.
No. I mean, look at it. It's just joy in porcelain form. It's a new one.
Can I have one for Oatmeal? Come on.
Yes. Oh, I like it. So one for my coffees and one for my teas. Do you remember my 21st birthday? You, Daddy and Nick getting this.
21st.
And now for my 50th, it's turned into the entire breakfast set because this is my gift from Philip. And this was this, I mean, this is the teapot that started it all because this was the first really beautiful piece of porcelain I ever had and I've treasured it all of these years. And now I don't think that at 21 I would ever have expected that we would be here.
You'd have this much porcelain.
I'd have this much porcelain.
Too much? No, it's a collection.
I'd be with a man who has exactly the same loves and that we would all be... We both love you. Just, just daddy not here. You would be very happy, I wouldn't want you to cry. You would be very happy. I think it's because I went to bed so late and everyone's been so generous. It doesn't look as though I'm enjoying it but I'm enjoying it very much. Very, very much. Thank you, all of you who watch the videos. Thank you.
By doing that, you are supporting all of us and making it possible for us all to live here together. Thank you to my patrons and thank you for everyone who's...
Press the button to, to... Are you trying to get more likes and subscribes?
Now I'm unhappy!
It's shameful!
She said opportunities, she went for it.
It hasn't cost anything, but it means a lot.
No.
You have no idea how much it means. Happy birthday, Angela. Thank you, darling. Thank you. As I'm leaving, I see that there is a craft project going on. A craft project because we can't tell which machine is on and which is off. Yes, so which one is dirty or clean. Yeah, exactly. Okay. And we have to
kind of listen to what's happening. So we have on-off signs. This is marvellous. I love it. I think we need to buy better ones, or like craft ones. No, I like yours. No, these are better. I'm not going to see you, Judy. No, she's going to be home. It's been wonderful having you here. It's been an accessible day of enlightenment. Thank you. It was super, super good.
And I hope it won't be too, too long before you come back. Do you think I'll do another airflight? Yeah, go on.
Yes, you will. courtyard before leaving because apparently after his success at replacing the main door to the walled garden, Jamie's been working on the new double gates for it. Wow, what a difference! Mummy, had you seen this? Isn't that marvellous? That's beautiful. Oh, I'm so pleased about that. This chateau is levelling up. Oh Oh it opens, it closes, it does everything one would want from a gate. You know for a good luck we always... I haven't done it, it wasn't me.
You know please, you know, call my lawyer, get Petrucelli. 12 hours of watering and you'll be
allowed out. 12 hours. Don't tell a war to them without a lawyer.
I feel like all the peacocks have come to say a goodbye, happy birthday goodbye. But yeah, I feel that's what's going on. They're always quite stoic. You never know their feelings that much. This is my first time wearing Jarvis Jansen out. So I'll be wearing this to go to the hotel this evening.
I'm gonna go. I love you, mummy. Go, go, go, go, I love you mummy. Go go go go go. I am really excited. Be safe. Always. I love you, mummy. Go, go, go, go, I love you mummy. Go go go go go. I am really excited. Be safe. Always.
Bye darlings.
