NEW HOUSE MASTER BEDROOM MAKEOVER 2025 :: Organic Modern {Making a House A Home: Ep3}
This Crazy Life
Hey guys, welcome back to my channel and welcome to my bedroom. Today we are going to be doing a full bedroom makeover in here. I am going to be not doing like anything to the actual room itself. We're keeping the walls, the floors, all the stuff the same. I am renting, but we are going to do just about everything else. You can tell I literally don't have a bed, so I've actually been sleeping either on the
couch or in a blow up mattress downstairs or in one of the kids' beds. So, today I finally get a bed and I'm excited I'm going to be teaming up with Lisa in today's video. But we have so much more to do in here, but it's going to be they can get some good rest. So let's go ahead and get into it.
βͺ Go ahead and shine, darling go ahead and shine. βͺ
Okay, so the first thing I wanna do in here of course, is actually clear out the space, so that we're starting with an actual blank slate. So let's do that really fast. We're gonna ride, we're gonna ride this wave until it breaks
We're gonna drive, gonna drive, gonna drive, gonna drive on down We're gonna ride, we're gonna ride, we're gonna ride this wave until it breaks We're gonna drive, we're gonna drive, gonna drive, gonna drive on down We're gonna ride, we're gonna ride, we're gonna ride this wave until it breaks We're gonna drive, gonna drive, gonna drive, gonna drive all day We're gonna ride, we're gonna ride this wave until it breaks
All I know, yeah, all I know We're living it right
Yeah, we're living it right I'm always so excited when my kids say they're bored and they decide to come help me with whatever I'm working on. It just makes me feel happy to be able to do things together like this. And when they're actually excited, it makes me even more happy. So all that to say, Liam decided to join me for a little bit today, which was so fun.
And then we first started by laying out the rug once we got the floor cleaned. And this rug was from Facebook Marketplace. I ended up finding it online and it's normally like a $700 rug. I would not spend that on a rug, but it was brand new
and I ended up getting it for about $150 so total score never overlook Facebook Marketplace. And then the bed frame it may or may not look familiar to you but this was actually my friend's bed frame that we replaced in her house. I did a bedroom makeover for her earlier in the summer and this was the one that I replaced from her and so as I was taking it apart last time I was like if you weren't gonna do anything with that, do you mind if I use it whenever I ended up moving out?
And she said, absolutely. So she held onto it for me and it worked perfectly in this room. It fit the space beautifully and it was just a blessing to be able to use her old bed frame.
βͺ I'm in a world where Lisa is sponsoring today's video. So as you know, when moving into the new house, my bedroom sat empty for quite a while. So finally having a mattress in here feels amazing. Now I was able to go onto the Leesa website and select which mattress would be the best fit. They have several options to choose from,
but I ended up going with the Leesa Reserve Hybrid in a king size and it has been so good. Oh my gosh, it delivers right to your door. It's super easy to set up and it's so comfy. It's high quality and honestly, the boys and I have just been enjoying having sleepovers in my room
because we all love it so much. Now, when I was looking for a mattress, I wanted something very supportive, but also still plush and comfy and this one checks every box. Now, if you haven't heard of Leesa,
they've been around since 2015 and they're known for their beautiful design, premium comfort, and responsible manufacturing and every purchase helps give back. They have donated over 41,000 mattresses to people in need and another really cool thing is they design, assemble, and ship from their factory right here in Arizona and their mattresses are made with environmentally conscious materials and they're also CertiPUR US and GreenG cold certified, which means no harmful chemicals. That's a big deal because you sleep on this
every single night. Now the Reserve Hybrid is Lisa's newest and most luxurious mattress, and it actually ships in two boxes, so it's super easy to set up. It's 14 inches tall with seven layers of high density foam
with over 1,000 individually zoned springs, so you get that perfect mix of like cradling comfort and also great lumbar support. Now the cooling cover is amazing if you're a hot sleeper no more waking up hot in the middle of the night and the foam absorbs motion so even if one person moves around you're not going to be disturbed and I love hanging out in my bedroom so the reinforced edges mean you can sit or lay right on the side without sinking.
I also love when companies back their products and Leesa absolutely does. They offer free shipping, free returns, a 100 night risk-free trial, and a limited lifetime warranty. So you can really feel comfortable
and make sure it's the right fit for you. But if you are ready to upgrade your sleep, you can scan the QR code right here on the screen or click the link down in my description box and use the code thiscrazylife to get $75 off your mattress purchase, which gets even better
because that's on top of their current offers. I've been sleeping so well ever since my mattress arrived and I can't wait for you to try it too. Okay, this mattress, the boys and I actually just kind of hung out for a little bit and chilled on it.
It's so, so comfy. I can't wait to sleep on it tonight. It's going to be amazing, but not quite yet. These are the curtains that I got. Look how pretty. They're kind of like a terracotta, a little bit like pinky, but a little bit orange too.
I love it. I feel like it just adds not like super crazy girly but it does add that feminine touch that I've just been kind of wanting to add in. And then I am actually just going to use the same curtain rods that are already up here but I'm going to raise them a little bit once that we do go floor to ceiling and then also because these curtains will then go ahead and fit and not be too long. Alright, time to pull down the curtain rods. Okay, and then as soon as I pull down the curtain rods,
I'm actually gonna run outside and we are going to paint some nightstands that I found the other day. They were from Basic Marketplace and they're perfect. They're like beautiful. They're really in good shape,
but I'm actually gonna paint them a little bit lighter to kind of lighten the room a little bit since the bed frame is really dark and also so it doesn't clash because they are two different woods. So let's pull down all the curtain rods and then
we'll go ahead and paint. I'm going to make a hole in the middle of the cake. I'm going to put a piece of cake in the hole. I'm going to put a piece of cake in the hole. I'm going to put a piece of cake in the hole. I'm going to put a piece of cake in the hole. I'm going to put a piece of cake in the hole.
I'm going to put a afar. They do look like they're in pretty good condition and they are in really great working condition but there's actually a lot of like scuffs and dings and things like that and scratches on it Especially on the top and especially on that one. I'm using one of my favorite colors, which is peppered pecan in the Glidden brand It's so pretty. It's like this really kind of like deep kind of taupe color, I guess But it's so pretty and this paint goes on so beautifully
I am sad to see that I am on down to my last can, I think, unless if it's lost in the chaos of boxes still. I probably have to run to the store and grab one more can, maybe two, we'll see, but I do have the drawer fronts that I wanna get done to, and then of course, the body. So we'll stretch it as far as we can. again. I get unstable, I get unstable If you are new to furniture flipping or you're feeling very overwhelmed with it, spray paint
and beyond paint for furniture is the easiest, most hassle-free to get such a huge transformation. And I still want to remind you, make sure you're shopping on Marketplace. It can save you so much. Like these nightstands cost me $25 each. Such a steal. And especially with a coat of paint and changing out the drawer pulls,
it just makes such a drastic difference. You can save so much and really customize your pieces. Trust me, if I can do it, you can do it Please don't feel so overwhelmed to try it yourself Liam filmed me really quick as I was putting up the curtain rod brackets and it was giving home video vibes and I love it so much. βͺ Nothing can take you down βͺ
βͺ Crash it like thunder βͺ
Hello, hello, welcome to day two. You guys know I couldn't do it in day one. It's just not how it goes around here. But the good news is I did get the brackets, the curtain rod brackets up, and that's like the hardest part of curtains,
which it really isn't hard, it's just like,'s like the hardest part of curtains, which it really isn't hard, it's just like I guess time consuming. But Liam was helping me with that yesterday, like handing me nails, it was really nice. The kids are at school today, so which we have been back in school for several weeks.
I don't even know if I've told you guys that, but here in Arizona, they started like the last day of July, which is awful, I hate it. Now we're in August and they have been back for a few weeks. I do have the curtain rods right here and I have the curtains over here. So I am going to do my little dryer trick that I learned from one of my sisters
where you toss whatever linens you have into your dryer with a few ice cubes and the ice kind of melts slowly and steams them and then you don't have to steam everything. It just works great. So we're gonna go ahead and do that. Also, look, I got these all painted and everything. So I'm gonna go ahead
and put the nightstands up where they go. I do need to paint the knobs and I'm thinking I'm gonna do the same thing that I did. I actually learned this trick from Carrie Lynn on YouTube. I'm sure you guys watch her. She is amazing and super sweet. What she does is she spray paints black first,
and then when it's still wet, then she spray paints gold, and it gives it like this really antique look. It looks so beautiful, I've done it before. Actually, I did it on the TV that's down right below me in the living room, and it just turned out so pretty. So I think I'm gonna do that too also for those, I have to mount the TV, put the TV up, like put the bedding, just little bits and pieces here and there,
but we're getting close and it feels so good. So let's get back to it.
βͺ We only breathe till the day we die βͺ βͺ Bring on the fire, bring on the rain βͺ
βͺ Nothing can take you down βͺ I I hate tags, which is kind of funny because I feel like I always keep tags on like sticker tags if they're on the bottom of something. I just don't bother taking them off because you're never really going to see them. But all of these tags I take off. You know how on cords and lamps and stuff, they always have those tags that say, do not remove, you have to keep these tags on.
And they just, I don't really even know what they say, but it's nothing that I've ever had to look at or need. And it was literally, I think just like this last year, that I realized nobody's ever gonna come to my house and be like, are the tags still on your lamp cords? So instead of like being annoyed at them and like trying to hide them, I literally just started cutting them off and it makes me feel free and
happy. It's like a little tiny thing but just taking control of life a little bit. These I think tell me how to take care of these but if they don't just go in the washing machine normally then they don't survive my house anyway. So how pretty is this color? I love it, because actually, I do think that you could get away with it not being too, too feminine. It's not like a pink,
but it is kind of like a dusty terracotta. I just think it's so pretty. I think it's especially pretty here in the desert, but this is one of my favorite colors, this and olive green.
Beautiful, I love them.
If you get curtains, especially with either this back pull or my favorite are actually the ones that have the little hooks. The only thing is when you get the hooks, you have to allot for additional length that you're gonna get from those.
So that's my only reason that I don't always go for that. Usually you then have to go ahead and hem them.
This way, I just feel like it looks so nice and high end.
So that's what I typically go with now. When the nightfall goes, don't turn back to the road below. Bring on the fire, bring on the rain. Nothing can take you down. Crash it like thunder, steel in your veins, nothing can take you down. βͺ Bring on the fire βͺ
I'm gonna bring a mirror up. I think I might end up putting it right here. I actually do like the spot it's in downstairs. It's just sitting up against the wall, but maybe I'll place it here. I might not put it up on the wall and we'll just kind of see.
And then I'll get the bedding on. I have to figure out what box the bedding is in. So we'll play like a little game trying to find the bedding. Once I get it, we'll put it on the bed and it'll be pretty.
βͺ We've been driving way too fast βͺ
βͺ Down this two lane street βͺ βͺ windows down your feet Yeah
We just free You and I, two beat up souls driving through the night In a 95 Chevrolet with the hatch down Hey now, take my hand and leave me those eyes The door starts to beat, a hopeful heart inside of me Oh, yeah, yeah, oh hell yeah Mama put on that party dress
We got a little sunshine, waiting to set Make a night away from Los Angeles Singing you and I Two beat up souls driving through the night And I never wanna get by Should've rolled in with the hatched town
And I'll take my hand And give me those eyes Just for clarification, I did clear this with my landlord that I'm able to mount a TV and actually I can see that there was already a TV mounted up high. That's like really, really high. So I'm not going to mount it there. I'm going to mount it more at a more typical height. I measured that I want the TV bottom to be at like about four feet high
that'll be a little bit above the dresser and I think that's like a typical what I found to be typical height and then I basically just measured the middle of the TV from top to bottom so that I can make sure that this goes in the middle and then obviously The studs are just gonna poke where they're gonna be. So there we go. All right I'm pretty sure I have some bad news. I've heard of some houses doing this and I don't know why but they're putting studs 24 inches apart and it's looking like that's what
it is here. So basically this is gonna show me right where stud is right there. Nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing and another stud here. And the TV mount I got only is here to here, so that means I cannot hang the TV. I think I could just use this mount for downstairs. I better go check. That one has studs in like a more normal distance apart.
That is a bummer because I don't think I can mount this TV today. No one really wants to mount a TV anyway, so it's fine. It saved me time kind of except all the prep work's done. Okay ignore ignore the TV we are gonna get that hung up as soon as the new mount arrives but I wanted to show you guys I got this pretty pretty blanket it's like a bed blanket actually looked for one
that kind of matched the curtains to pull that in over here I couldn't find one that matched really well and because it is like a full-on color it really needs to match like either very very perfectly or it needs to correspond really well. So since you can't always tell that in like online I just went with the more safe neutral option that also brought a little bit of warmth into the bed area. And then I think I'm going to kind of
pull the terracotta color in other places in the room to kind of tie things together. But also I really want to add a picture above the bed but I don't have one yet so I'll be kind of on the hunt for that one. That'll just be like a work in progress if like when I find something. And if I don't find something, maybe I'll just make something myself or I'll go on Etsy and find a print out or something. I don't know, but that'll be pretty once I get that done.
Ooh, this is so pretty. And this would be nice like if you don't want to like get in bed all the way, you can just kind of curl up with the blanket. And I love it because it adds a lot of texture and again it adds that warmth.
Love some warmth. I'm going to make a small hole in the bottom of the pot. I'm going to put a pot lid on the bottom of the pot. I'm going to put a pot lid on the bottom of the pot. I'm going to put a pot lid on the bottom of the pot. I'm going to put a pot lid on the bottom of the pot. That's the secret to life Keep looking up
Keep looking up Okay, so the TV stand has not arrived and I don't have a picture for above my bed yet. And so I thought, what can I do? And I went down to the nightstands that were in the last house's guest bedroom and I started
clearing them out.
I'm sorry.
And it was like weird. The last house's guest bedroom and I started clearing them out. I'm sorry
And it was like weird so if you've been here for a long time, I'm sorry I'm gonna try to keep this short I just if you've been here for a while, you know that like and we're still in the process of our divorce But while we were both living at the house I moved into the guest bedroom. And so eventually I moved all my things into the guest bedroom like my
nightstand stuff and moved all my things into the guest bedroom like my nightstand stuff and all the things.
This is now the first time that I'm back in like what kind of feels like my bedroom and so I'm like oh yeah I have all my stuff down there cuz I've been like just you know in and out and even when I kind of moved back into the bedroom for a while when Kaya wasn't at the house then I've been like just you know in and out and even when I kind of moved back into the bedroom for a while when Kyla wasn't at the house then I never really like fully moved back into that bedroom because I actually couldn't sleep well in there I just never really went back in that bedroom and anyway
So this is just like the first time and I was like, oh, it's weird Like it just kind of hits me as I'm like pulling things out of that nightstand, like that chapter is over. And I don't know, it's just, it's been like a weird, I mean, I don't know how divorces typically go. I moved out in a matter of a week and it was so fast and chaotic and like, you know, it was just like my mom and I were just like,
okay, like put everything in boxes. And like, I didn't take a ton of stuff. Like I didn't take like a ton of furniture, but I took, you know, like my things and stuff like that. I remember one night, I'm sorry. I remember one night I just felt like The way that it's all happening. It's so chaotic and so I Feel like not how it's supposed to go
And I said to her I said I feel like I'm not really having the time or opportunity to like process what's happening and just kind of like deal with everything that's happening. It's just like go from this fire to this fire to this fire. And I said, I wonder if at some point, and I actually don't think that this is the point, but it's like, I wonder if at some point, and I actually don't think that this is the point, but it's like I wonder if at some point it's going to hit me. Like, oh my gosh, that actually happened and now here you are.
And...
And... And... I don't know, I feel like... I don't know, I feel like going through my nightstands and moving them from the guest bedroom nightstands into my bedroom nightstands and my new home is like you know just like a little piece of that like realization of like oh my gosh this is actually happening I do still feel
like this is the right choice and when everything settles that it will be- I will look back and feel like, yeah, that was the right choice, but It's just been like such an array of emotions, like emotions, and sometimes I do like a really good job of like keeping it all together, and then sometimes I clearly don't, but actually, my son Liam, he tells me all the time, he says, Mom, you know it's okay to cry. It's good to cry, because it lets your emotions out.
Which, it's neat when your kids will say the same things that you say to them, and they say them to you to help you, and it's just, it is good, and it's humbling when that happens, but anyway, I don't know. I didn't really even fully mean to get on this tangent. I just, I just am in here.
So, good or bad, this is where I'm at. And the only thing to keep doing is like moving forward, unpacking and like making this new reality just the best it can be.
And that's what I'll keep doing.
βͺ At the top of my lungs and let it ring βͺ βͺ Anything that I wanna do I'm capable do the same thing on the other side. I'm gonna do the same thing on the other side. And I'm gonna do the same thing on the other side. And I'm gonna do the same thing on the other side. And I'm gonna do the same thing on the other side. Keep looking up, that's the secret to life Keep looking up, up, up, up, up
Keep looking up, that's the secret to life Keep looking up, up, up, up, up Keep looking up, up, up, up, up Keep looking up, up, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah. Keep the key down, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah. Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey. Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey. Ah, ah, ah, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey. Ah, ah, keep looking up, up, up, up, up keep looking up, let the sea cry for love keep looking up, up, up, up, up
keep looking up, let the sea cry for love keep looking up, up, up, up, up keep looking up, let the sea cry for love keep looking up, up, up, keep looking up Keep looking up, keep looking up Keep looking up, keep looking up Keep looking up, keep looking up Keep looking up, keep looking up
Keep looking up, keep looking up This is the before right when I moved in. A completely blank slate. And then you saw the mess it was before I actually got started and we cleared everything out but oh my goodness this is the after. I truly love this room so much I feel like it has a bit of a feminine touch that just makes me feel so I don't know happy I guess I just love it. Now let's go through every little piece that we did to this space to completely
customize it and make it feel very warm and cozy and inviting. so starting off with the rug. I love adding rugs into bedrooms whether you have carpet or hardwood floors. it is going to ground a space and make it feel so much more cohesive. then right on top of the rug I have the beautiful wood bed frame. this is perfect because since the room is so light and all the nice windows in here, adding that dark piece really adds such a beautiful contrast that I love.
And then I have to say my favorite part is my new mattress. It is so incredibly comfy and it really is the reason for a whole bedroom anyway. And then of course I added all this beautiful bedding. This bedding is actually just bedding that I already had previously,
but I have a beautiful duvet cover just a simple linen one and then I added in some big euro shams and a front lumbar pillow. I really love this one because it adds a lot of texture. I've just had this for a long time and then right on top of everything I added in this beautiful textured light brown bed blanket and this again just like adds warmth onto the white bedding and also adds so much texture. if you want to create a lot of interest in the space but keep things really calm and peaceful, go for texture.
It's not going to overwhelm the space but it will make a big difference. Now, let's move on to the ceiling area where we went floor to ceiling with these curtains and I could not be happier with them. I love the trick of going up and out on your window frames
and that is going to make your room look bigger. It's also going to make your windows look larger as well. And then the curtains themselves are this beautiful terracotta color. I love them. I think they're so stunning. They are light filtering, which are my personal favorite. I'm not a blackout curtains girl, but the color I feel just adds so much life
into this space and so much interest again, without really overwhelming the space at all, then right beside the bed, I have those two matching nightstands that I got from Marketplace. I painted those and changed out the drawer pulls for something that matched my style a little bit better. I just reused my same lamps and lampshades that I had previously and those matched so perfectly. Then we have a few functional pieces on the left side of the room. So I have the cat tree, which the cats love. They're definitely happy that got included. And then I also have an exercise bike which is super handy just to have kind of tucked in the
corner of the bedroom. Then on the other side of the room I have a TV and my dresser. Now these are just really functional pieces. I think eventually I will end up adding a DIY frame to this TV just because I think it adds so much. For now we have a lot of function over here. And then finally, I just finished everything off with some decor touches. So I added a lamp on the dresser, along with a candle, and a few functional decor pieces and the plant. I also added a little bit more functional decor
on the nightstands, and then finished up with a functional tray on the bed, which I love because I love to just sit in bed and like have a cup of tea or something like that. And then last but not least, I added in that arch mirror. I do have a plan to hang that, I just did not get around to it this time. But anytime you can add a mirror, it really is so perfect to lighten the space. It bounces light around, it makes your space feel larger. And I also love the arch mirrors because it really breaks up the typical squared off lines that
you have in your home. Now I do have plans to add some wall art, definitely above the bed and maybe over by my peloton as well. for now this room is just perfect and I'm so happy with it. let me know in the comments what was your favorite thing about this bedroom makeover and if there's anything that you would change. with all that being said I hope you guys have an incredible day and I will see you right back here in the next one. guys have an incredible day and I will see you right back here in the next one. bye guys!
