"Not Going To Happen!" | Danielle Smith Shuts Down Doug Ford's Sabotage

Chaos is being unleashed yet again in our country due to the ineptitude of Mark Carney and this liberal government and the refusal to get something done with the United States of America, which has left us open to more tariffs and more chaos.And we saw that absolutely unleashed yesterday.Everybody had something to say.Our political leaders, industry experts, and everybody else in between had something to say because this is catastrophic for Canada and we have political leaders who are unserious yet there are still some folks out there who are able to say the unpopular thing and be leaders at a time when it is tough to say the correct thing because the incorrect thing has become so popular and we're going to be getting into all of that today.Welcome to the Elevate Report.I'm your host, Josh.

Now, let's get to our first story, shall we?So, as I said, yesterday was crazy.We are seeing two arguments emerge amongst this tariff dispute with the United States.You have the ever so popular perspective of plead with the American people to show them how awful the tariffs are and how it's impacting their economy, along with fighting back and standing up to the bully to show them that we won't be pushed around.There's a lot of putting the control on of our country in the hands of a foreign nation and their voters is typically the argument versus having a diplomatic approach, being a great partner and great ally in dealing with national security and going after China and using that as leverage in your negotiations to get a better deal and doing all that without antagonizing the president and going to the negotiating table in good faith.Those are the two arguments at hand right now.

One wants to fightcreate chaos and ghost scorched earth.And the other wants to be adults, wants to deal with this with maturity and see what is happening beyond our borders and stop treating ourselves like victims.Those are the two arguments that are pervading right now, especially yesterday.If you were following social media, you're following what the media is saying in general, you would have been inundated.With everyone had their perspective, whether it be the premieres talking nonstop, whether it be politicos like Aaron O'Toole, Jason Kenney, James Moore, you had a lot of people giving their perspective.

And the one that was really loud was the one of we need to fight back.Doug Ford was very famous for saying that yesterday, which also play the clip here.Go ahead.

This latest list?Yes.What is the economic impact, the hit to Ontario, should this come into effect in 29 days?Have you quantified that?

Can you, can you predict the impact?What I understand, it's 28 billion across the country.Majority is going to be here in Ontario.That's why we can't roll over.We have to hit back.We have to, rather than be on our back heel, as I said, we have to go forward, take the offense.

We are an energy powerhouse.and we could dismantle the U .S.if we wanted to, if we all work together.No matter if it's the electricity, and I'm not speaking for the other provinces, I'm going to be very clear, the potash, the oil, we're their number one customer in the world.They need to feel the pain rather than us constantly feeling the pain.

They need to feel the pain instead of us having to feel it constantly.We need to go after their energy, their electricity.We need to inflict pain upon them.That is the perspective and approach that the Premier of Ontario is bringing forward.The likes of the new Brunswick Premier, Susan Holt, thought of the same idea as withholding energy to the United States.The Quebec Premier saying the same thing, entertaining the idea of withholding hydroelectricity to the United States as well.

It's funny how it's all the Eastern provinces that are debating this, isn't it?This is the perspective that these Eastern premiers are having at the moment, which is extremely damaging.And then of course, you had the likes, as I said earlier, the likes of Jason Kenney and Aaron O'Toole going on CBC saying that Canadians who are advocating for diplomacy, Canadians who are advocating for getting tough on national security, Canadians who want us to get tough on China as a weight, as a piece of leverage to move forward in our negotiations with the United States and being and operating in good faith, those Canadians are traitors in the eyes of the political establishment in Ottawa.Those Canadians are traitors.That's what they were very loud in discussing yesterday.The everyday Canadians who just want adults at the table are seen as traitors by the political establishment.

Keep that one in mind.Of course, the same people that are espousing these ideals that we need to hit Trump, we need to get tough on Trump, and anyone who's advocating for diplomacy are traitors.Well, these people advocating for this are the same ones.who were speaking against the convoy back in 2022.So I'll give you an idea of the type of people that run in these circles.They are not Canada.

They don't represent Canadians.They just represent specific interests of a particular group in political circles in this country.They are not to be listened to, they're not to be taken seriously, and they are the ones that should not ever speak on behalf of Canadians in this trade war.That was the problem yesterday.It's Doug Ford, Susan Holt, David Eby, Wab Canoe,Jason Kenney, Aaron O'Toole, James Moore were the very loud voices yesterday.

All saying we need to hit them hard.Plead with the American voters so they can see how much pain that we're inflicting upon them.That's what you're seeing on social media.So you thought you're taking crazy pills.Because a normal person would have seen all that and realized that's not helping us at all.What has that gotten us in the past 18 months?

Really, what has that gotten us?What have we achieved?What have we won?The person who started all that off, Justin Trudeau, is in the United States as we speak, enjoying his Katy Perry music videos.

What has that gotten Canada?

Well, the guys who started it are now enjoying all the luxuries of the United States, aren't they?But don't worry, you're not taking crazy pills.There were semblances of rational thought, maturity in the moment, and speaking to regular Canadians of, there is another way.that isn't being emotional and running around with your hair on fire.First example, independent MLA Elizabeth Smith McCrossin, again, Cumberland North, provincial level, is calling out the Nova Scotia and New Brunswick premiers on dropping their internal trade barriers, saying this, before our premiers criticize the president of the United States for placing new tariffs, let's first focus on removing the ones we do have control over in Nova Scotia and New Brunswick.This week, Canada's premiers are meeting in Prince Edward Island.

I hope one of their priorities is removing interprovincial barriers, not creating new ones.It's time for Nova Scotia to eliminate the tolls on the Colbeckwood Pass.They are an interprovincial barrier that places an additional cost on people entering our province.And it's time for New Brunswick to make it clear that a new border toll on Nova Scotians will not move forward.Workers, families, patients, students, businesses,and tourists should be encouraged, not discouraged, to move freely between our provinces.

At a time when Canadians are working to strengthen our economy and reduce barriers to trade, adding new costs to cross provincial borders sends the wrong message.Let's show leadership.Premier Tim Houston, remove the Coldquay Pass toll.Premier Susan Holt, don't create a new border toll.Instead of putting up new barriers between neighbors, let's take them down.One country, two provinces, no unnecessary toll.

tolls.Again, a voice of sanity in a sea of insanity.She's spot on.How about before we start criticizing a foreign government what they're doing?How about we look out here at home what we're doing to harm our own people?Just a thought.

But you bringing that up makes you anti -Canadian.You bringing that up makes you a traitor, according to the political elite in Ottawa.But these are great points.We move forward.Shoov Majumdar takes direct aim at Mr. Ford and says, Just one sentence, and it's an important sentence, because this is the first time that a member of the conservative party, at least in the shadow cabinet, has taken direct aim at Doug Ford since the election.And he was citing Kate Harrison's take on CBC and power politics.

You expecting as they sit down in Charlottetown, I think there will be a lot of angling to be tough on Trump in front of the cameras, and a lot of, sir, you need to get to the bottom of this, behind.And I would even just point to the last two weeks, Premier Ford, when in Alberta, had a public message for the prime minister that he was encouraging him to get back to the negotiation table.The sector tariffs are hurting a lot.It is made infinitely worse by today.So, again, we can continue on with the tough talk and rhetoric and piecemeal caveats and carve -outs that have been pursued.It's not working.

I'll be completely honest with you, this is the most dejected I've seen Kate Harrison on CBC.She's discouraged.She's not happy with what's happening.She sees the stupidity of what's currently going on.But I refocus to Shoves post here taking direct shot at premier Ford saying, you know premier Ford I suggest you focus on consistency stop being a tough guy in other words The tough guy approach has been highlighted the tough guy approach is the one that media wants to highlight the show Canada strong Elbows up.We're awesome and media gets very Confrontational if you don't take that stance and they got confrontational with premier more mo yesterday and even in the face of that He spoke the truth with conviction.

In at least being ambitious in those negotiations and trying to be and making every attempt to be at that table each and every day moving forward.We have even with this latest round which I would say is the ninth or tenth round of tariffs that we have that are having impacts not only on Canadian business and families but American business and families as well.We have the We have 30 days until they come into effect.We've seen the president walk back some of his previous tariffs as well in that time period.This is a prime time for Canada to be very ambitious in getting to that negotiating table and advancing the review of this trade deal, which I don't think any Canadian or American can argue is the most important trade deal that each of us have.

So you don't want to fight?So you catch that.

He gives a pretty serious stance of what he wants to see from the Prime Minister.getting to the negotiation table, okay?You heard that right there.The follow -up question was, so you don't wanna fight elbows down?And this was his answer.

I want a trade agreement with the United States of America.They're our largest trading partner, have been for all of our life, yours and ours, and likely will be into the future.At the end of the day, why would you want to fight with your largest trading partner, regardless of what they're saying?We need this trade agreement.So in other words, wake the heck up.

Do you listen to the words that are coming out of your mouth?They are our largest trading partner.Why do you want to fight them?It is stupid.Shout out to Scott and Mo.For being the guy who is also well known for when Mark Carney was in Beijing saying, we are ready for the new world order.

And Scott Moe just said, for the new world order.Scott Moe is a real one, but he's saying it how it needs to be said.Why do you want to fight them?That seems to be a terrible idea.This trade deal is important to us, way more important than your emotions and living in an alternative reality that Canada holds all the cards.We don't.

It's time to start being a grown -up.We've been doing this for a year and a half now.It was big around the election.Then you wouldn't hold your Prime Minister accountable for not going to the negotiation table, for not talking to Trump.You refused to hold him accountable.And even today, the media refused to utter the words of Carney, being responsible for putting us in the spot in the first place.

Terrified, because they're terrified of the electorate.They're terrified of Trump.of speaking the truth to Canadians.And quite frankly, I'm sick and tired of politicians.and the media establishment lying to my people, lying to my fellow Canadians, and trying to gaslight them and deliver them a false reality to make them feel better.No more, and we need more people like Scott Moe who are willing to tell the truth instead of being cowards.

We move forward.This is from Mickey Jurich from Politico, reporting on what came of the Premier's meeting in Prince Edward Island.says withholding energy to the U .S.is at the center of debate among Canadian premiers.If Prime Minister Mark Carney and President Trump don't clinch a trade deal within the next 28 days, premiers hope to leave United tomorrow following their meeting with Carney.

Premieres are wanting to use and leverage energy if they can't come to a deal in the next 30 days moving forward.That's what Doug Ford wants to do.That's what Susan Holt wants to do.That's what Quebec's thinking about doing.And this was Daniel Smith.at least from what was reported, said here.

Start from the top here.It says East versus West.Ontario Premier Doug Ford says Canada must retaliate if no deal is reached in time.He argued every option should remain on the table, including cutting off energy to the United States.We are an energy powerhouse and we could dismantle the U .S.

Is even international trade lawyer Mark Warner.was asked about the idea of retaliation and going hard against the Americans.And this was his response to that.

this is one of those things where you've got to sort of calm your passions and you maybe let other people fight or find other ways to fight because Donald Trump insists on having the last word.I think we saw that in the World Cup, right?So I don't really, I don't really understand the, well, I understand the impulse and where it comes from.I think it's ultimately a terrible strategy.I did hear a little bit of your interview from previously with Flavio Volpe.Look, I don't believe any of that nonsense worked in the last trade negotiations.

We almost lost the NAFTA because of that strategy, right?When the Americans went off and did a separate agreement with Mexico.I don't know why the people involved in the last negotiations continued to preach that it worked.It almost failed dramatically.So they should stop saying that.It's just not true.

There's no evidence that any of that retaliation works for Canada.

There is no evidence that retaliation ever works for Canada.Again, this international trade lawyer saying this.Wake up to our politicians.Retaliations and being tough doesn't work.Did you not realize it's not worked for the past 18 months?It's only gotten worse.

But no, we got to hit them hard.Instead of taking a step back to realize what in God's name is going on, especially from a geopolitical perspective.Hello.China has hollowed out the West with manufacturing, okay?Trump is trying to bring all that back to the United States.On top of that, he's trying to route out China's influence in the United States and the Western Hemisphere as a whole.

That's why he's been tough on Mexico.Get China out of the supply chains.That's why he's being tough on Canada.Get China out of the supply chains.No, you just want to get hurt feelings instead of dealing with the issue.Carney said he could deal with it.

He is not dealing with it.And that's what Trump has been requesting of Mark Carney and the Liberal Party.Get China out of the supply chains.But guess what?Mexico agreed.Yes, we're going to kick China out of the supply chains.

in terms of their dumping, what they do to manipulate and take advantage of our free trade agreement.He's looked at Carney and the Liberal Party and said, are you gonna do the same thing?No?Okay, more tariffs.Not gonna take forced labor seriously?More tariffs.

You're gonna get closer to China and do a strategic partnership with them?Okay, more tariffs.Are you catching on to the theme yet?Especially those establishment politicians who wanna get hurt feelings, who wanna take it personal, who say this is a threat against Canada?No, this is Donald Trump trying to get you to move on a very critical issue.And you refuse to.

Obama asked nicely.Joe Biden asked nicely.Clearly, you don't move unless you're tariffed.Wow.The reason why we talk about these voices speaking up, whether it be Elizabeth Smith McCrossan, Danielle Smith, Scott Moe, Mark Warner, is to show you that there is sanity still in this country.And we need to elevate it and suffocate the BS that's coming out of Eastern Canada.

And by Eastern Canada, I mean the Laurentian elite.in Eastern Canada needs to be suffocated because they are single -handedly using Mark Carney as the man to do it.To plunge our country into economic ruin due to their very fragile egos.And they'll come at me and they'll come at the ones who have got a voice saying that we're traitors.No, we're the only ones protecting this country and you're the ones who are selling it out because of your ego.Even CBC massively frustrated them.

Donald Trump only took two questions on Canada yesterday.Listen to this.It's hilarious.

Okay, so those were the remarks that the US president made about the threat of those new tariffs.I want to bring in the CBC's Julia Wong.She's in Washington.She was listening in.Of course, he said right off the top that this doesn't have to do with wildfires.That's a separate issue.

And then he addressed the current situation.

Yeah, he did.And what I found really striking in this press conference, you know, it was about 20 plus minutes or so.You know, for us, for folks in Canada, news of these new tears has struck really hard.It's very much struck a chord and it's been plastered on news, you know, the top story.But here in the United States, it really isn't getting much play.You saw an example of that during this press conference in the Oval Office, where the president fielded, you know, several questions, more than a dozen or so.

But there was really only one, two questions about Canada.and the tariffs.And that gives you a sense of just the priority that Americans are placing on it.Okay, so those were the remarks.

Politicos are really frustrated by Donald Trump's statements yesterday, saying they need us.And based just on the news coverage in Canada versus the United States, I'm not going to say anything.I'll let that tell its own story.But I'll say this much.What did come out of the premiers meeting yesterday?Nine premiers to allow wineries, distilleries, and breweries to sell directly to consumers across provinces.

50 % tariffs is what it took.for us to bring down interprovincial barriers, at least on booze.Couldn't even do it as an election promise.It took 50 % tariffs to be threatened, to get you to start moving even a little bit to help Canadians.That should tell you a lot.It leaves me with one last question, is if it took Trump applying 50 % tariffs to get interprovincial barriers down just on alcohol, my question is,

is, why did it take Trump's tariff threats to do that?Why?My question really is at the heart of it, is why do our political elite hate Trump more than they love Canada?That's what I want, but I'll leave it there.Have yourselves a good one.I'm out.
