I hired a welder to help me with the project and no wonder they're so well paid. Originally I was going to cut out 13 inches of my stuff from this bed to make it shorter, but since I didn't have the tools to do it, I had to bite the bullet and pay to get it done. And thank goodness I did, there was a lot I didn't know. Fortunately the guy was willing to teach me because there was also a lot of things I would have never thought of.

After cutting off a 13 inch section with the grinder, I learned that the metal had to be stripped from the paint so that the weld would actually melt onto the metal

instead of just sitting on top. With everything fully prepped, it was time to weld. And I wish I could say I was more of a help, cold until he was finished. But it came out really good. It looked like it had a solid bead across the bed, when in reality, it was just a hundred little tacks evenly spaced out. Towards the end, he also smoothed it down with a flap disk and I sprayed it with primer to protect it from rust.

And after doing the same to the other side, I paid him for the job. And just like that, in a few hours, And just like that, in a few hours, the truck has a bobbed bed that looks really good.
