Ornstein's BIG Transfer Update! Man Utd Transfer News

Hello, everybody.Welcome to the United Stands.I'm Mark Goldbridge, and this is your latest Manchester United transfer news.I hope you're all doing very well.David Ornstein, big update around Ugarte, but also Man United looking at several midfield recruitments this summer.Is that a new hope for us Man United fans tonight?

We'll also be talking about Ciamini, and Micha and a few other things as well.But a big, big, big update from David Ornstein that does indicate that Manchester United, as he said before, remember it was David Ornstein who, when he was asked a few weeks ago who he thought would be the most busy club in the Premier League transfer market this summer, he said Manchester United.And he is there again saying several midfield words.Options so lots to get into in the show tonight as always.It's an evening show We're slightly early tonight because I'm doing the World Cup game at 8 o 'clock But as always an evening show get your comments in you can drive it by bringing in good comments But look we're going to start off with this David Ornstein article and look first of all it is bad news And it's probably not unexpected news a got a knee ligament issue could could could be could be six months, could be nine months, could be a year.It's bad news.

It really is.And I think it was actually Laurie Whitwell who quoted the David Ornstein thing himself and said that this will have an impact on United's transfer plans.Agaté had been a player in line for sale to raise funds, and he's not the first person to say that, Laurie Whitwell.A couple of other people said it yesterday.So obviously, there is an indication that Agaté would have to go for somebody to come in.So Laurie Whitwell, quote tweeting David Ornstein's post about Agaté saying this will have an impact on United's transfer plans.

Agaté had been a player in line for sale to raise funds.So it is a blow.It is a blow for Manchester United and it's a blow for Manuel Agaté primarily as well.However,this is what David Ornstein had to say in his article.He spoke about how since joining United from PSG in a deal worth 50 million plus a further 10 in add -ons.

Agaté has struggled to nail down a regular spot and was obviously looking at potentially moving on this summer.But United's midfield is likely to have several incomings this summer with Casemiro leaving the club as a free agent at the end of his contract as well.So, you know, David Ornstein there saying Man Utd likely to have several incomings this summer in the midfield.Well, several to mean several to me means more than a couple, which is two.So look, hopefully there is a little bit of hope in that, that we can, you know, react to this bad news for Egarte and still bring in three midfielders, which I think is absolutely essential.It would be criminal, I think, to try and go into next season with Meunier, Edison, one more new signing, and that's it.

I think it would.And it was funny, actually, because there was a I think some people are getting a little bit excited today because I don't even know where it came from, but there was a story coming in from Italy that Milan with Amrim had inquired about Mason Mount and were potentially going to make a bid.

Then I think it was Stephen Railsen in the Manchester Evening News put out a tweet saying Man United have got no intention of letting Mason Mount go this summer.

He's a big part of the future plans.And I just, I was laughing.First of all, Milan aren't stupid.No football club in football is going to pay money for Mason Mount when he's on 250 grand a week and has been injured for three years.But it's funny how Man United cover up the fact that nobody would offer a bloody Freddo for Mason Mount by pretendinghe's part of their future plans.

He's not going, no one wants him.So Man United have to say, oh, well, you know, if somebody knocked on the door and offered us £30 million for Mason Mount, we'd tell them to get lost.You wouldn't.You'd invite them in.You'd offer him a bed for the night.Not in that way.

You'd give him a hot meal.You'd let him have a hot bath.You'd give him the works.You'd absolutely give him the works.Nobody in football wants Mason Mount because he's injury prone and he's on £250 ,000 a week.And it's funny how Man United put it out there that he's a big part of the plans.

They'd love to get rid of him.They'd love to get rid of him.I mean, the fact that they've been trying to get rid of Casimiro for two years because of his wage, and they tried to get rid of Rashford because of his wage.Imagine what they must think about Mason Mount.Because Ineos didn't sign Mason Mount.That was like six months before they came in.

They'd love to bloody get rid of him, of course they would.But look, let me focus on what David Ornstein said, because some people have said, well, what do you think several means?Well, the last time I checked, so David Ornstein has said, expect several midfield signings for Manchester United this summer.Well, if it was only two, you would think a couple of signings.Literal definition, right?Let me just read this to you, OK?

This is why there could be a bit of hope here.He said United's midfield is likely to have several incomings this summer.Midfield, incomings, several.The dictionary says that several, and I'm sad that I've got to do this.The word several is a determiner or pronoun used to indicate an unspecified quantity that is more than two but fewer than many.So several means more than two but fewer than many.

It typically refers to a small group of around three to ten items, emphasising a number greater than one.than a few, but not as large as many.And David Ornstein's a journalist with a blue tick.He'll know what words mean.So when he said several, because some people in the chat are going, oh, Goldbridge has been on the piss again.I very may well have been to the pub today.

But clarity of thought is there.Absolutely, I know what several means.And to some of our non -English audience who maybe don't know what several means, it means more than two.And that, to me, gives me hope.Because if we buy two midfielders, it ain't enough.But if we get three, I'll be OK with that.

I'll be OK with that.Stuart says, I still think it's two.No, several means more than two.I can't believe we're having an English lesson here.I do take on board what Laurie Whitwell has said and a couple of other people have said that Agaté injury damages Man United's transfer plans.

Well, you know, if we're not ambitious, it's going to damage our plans, isn't it?

But what I would say is that, you know, this is what happens when you try and run a football club like a bank.You can control Excel spreadsheets, but you can't control football.What we'll do is we will sell Agaté and then we'll get another midfielder.What happens if Agaté breaks his leg skiing?What happens if Agaté does his knee playing for Uruguay in a World Cup?You know, there's got to be, if Man United haven't factored that in, I'd be stunned.

They can't just go, well, Agaté's done his knee, we're not buying a midfielder because he's not fit anyway.You could have said we're not buying a midfielder because we can't sell Agaté, so we'll keep Agaté.But surely in the prospects of us buying a midfielder, Agaté being injured makes it more more urgent like people said before so look we'll have to wait and see but you know I think we could do with a little bit of hope couldn't we because the updates over the last week or so haven't been particularly good.FIFA to pay Agaté's wages, not all bad, says Craig.Well, exactly.You know, the wages will be covered, but he won't be there.

So we need to, we need to get him.And also, Craig, the wages thing is important because we were never selling him anyway.We were never selling him.

So Whitwell & Co saying, oh, that's a shame.It will damage Man Utd's transfer funds because they wanted to use his funds.

We were never selling him anyway.We were only ever loaning him.And if FIFA were covering his wages, that's all a loan deal would do.We were never going to sell him.Who was going to buy Agaté for £40 million?Because that's what we would have needed.

So one source saying that Real Madrid would be open to selling Ciamini if their conditions are met, which I think we all know that that is highly likely to happen.But also an interesting update coming in from Spain as well, that if Chelsea lose financialXabi Alonso would like to have a player like Chiumini as well.Alonso was delighted with Chiumini in Real Madrid.So there we go.We've not had that yet, have we?

But the trouble is, it might not just be a clear path.

And also, Enzo Fernandez plays for Chelsea.Real Madrid want Chelsea.Chelsea want Chiminey.So something could happen there.And whilst I would say surely Chiminey would want to come to Man United because we're in the Champions League, Well, that's not working particularly well with Mateus Fernandes at the moment, isn't it?

So I would agree with Druscia that we've got Champions League football and Chiumini's 26, so surely he'd want to come to us.But it doesn't mean that Chelsea wouldn't try it on.But I think more and more what we're seeing with Chiumini is that he is going to be available.And I don't know.I mean, look, I would like to think that we could go for Mateus Fernandes and Chiumini, but it doesn't feel like that actually At times, it doesn't feel like that actually is the case.If you're asking me whether I'd rather go for, well, I'll ask you.

I'll do a poll on it.But if you're asking me whether I'd rather go for Ciumini or Mateus Fernandes, I absolutely would rather go for Chiminey.I think he complements Meunier better.He's more of a defensive player, which is what we're going to need.It's not lost on me that if you put Fernandes next to Meunier, there's quite a lot of an attacking element there and quite a lot of defensive naivety there.

Correct me if I'm wrong, next season we'll still have to go to St. James' Park, Stamford Bridge, we'll have to play Liverpool home and away, Arsenal home and away, Man City home and away.We'll still have to go to the likes of bloody Brentford and Brighton and all these potential difficult away games where you might have to just be solid.

And I don't think Mateus Fernandes and Mainu at 20 and 21, I mean, it's the sort of midfield that you might put together and they could besee them in the bottom half of the table if they had different players around them.

And what I mean is, if Brentford's midfield was Maneu and Mateus Fernandes, you could see it struggling, couldn't you, in a lesser team?Obviously, you'd expect it to do better in a United team, but I still don't think it's a midfield to make me go, You know what?I will say it, because I sort of just have.Mainu and Mateus Fernandes doesn't make me confident next season.I think they're both good players, but they don't make me confident to go, ooh, we're going to cook in the Champions League and the Premier League.I think there's a massive inexperience there, and I don't think they complement each other that well.

on what we saw last season.But look, obviously you would hope that Carrick gets them together and works on something that could grow into something great.But it's quite rare to have two 21 -year -olds as your midfielders learning on the job.It's quite risky as well.So, yeah, I'd go to Chiumini every day of the week over Fernandes.I have nothing to say about the Fernandes deal.

The only reason I was talking about it is because we had that super chat that came in from Noah saying that he's getting a bit sick of the saga.I said everything on the morning show.and nothing else has happened.So yeah, unless anyone wants to talk about it, I wasn't going to spend a huge amount of time on that one, if I'm being completely honest.

A couple of other bits as well.Interesting, we'll talk about that in a moment about the transfer, how Man United's transfer policy sort of works.

I think it came in from Sam C. Certainly would like to talk about that as well.But just going back to the midfield situation, there was also a story that came out today around Enmita.You might see him on the thumbnail.So basically, we heard this morning that Newcastle are not going to be able to do a deal for him because Dortmund are looking at around 100 million euros.Man Utd and Chelsea have both been linked to him again.I don't see that deal happening.

Maybe it's a slow Sunday.I don't know.I don't see that deal happening.I think that I like Manu Kone.We looked at Manu Kone last summer.We didn't do it.

And then we went for Edison.I think Manu Kone is better than Edison.He's younger and obviously plays for Roma.I don't know why we haven't done something there.I'd be a bit disappointed if Manu Kone ended up coming into the Premier League with somebody else actually.But my point is, I don't think we're going to go and buy two midfielders outside the Premier League when And I saw a Spurs account saying this.

I think they thought they were going to get Mateus Fernandes.And this Spurs account basically said how typical of Manchester United.Two weeks ago, they're talking about fair value and how they won't overpay on wages to get players.We come in, offer a better wage, and we want to pay a better fee, and United abandon what they're all about.And it was quite an interesting sort of view on the Spurs fans' perception of Manchester United, because I think they were thinking, all we've got to do is come in, offer more wages and more of a transfer fee and United will back off because they're money obsessed and they're rigid.Good for us, we haven't, but Spurs fans were moaning about how our morals can change very, very quickly.

But I think with regards to Enmita, again, would be a bandit.And United can't do that too much because you become untrustworthy.But if United did go for Enmita, you would almost sit there and go, you've spent the last year tapping yourself on the back for going for Premier League proven players like Kunja and Mbuemo.And then the midfield, you're going for predominantly players who've never played in the Premier League.So I don't think United's plan is to do that.But they might find that Premier League proven midfielders

are expensive, but En -Mige is probably going to be expensive.Look, I don't know whether Dortmund want €100 million for him, but they probably want €80 million.I don't think we're going to spend over £60 million on any midfielder outside of the Premier League, unless it's Chiemini anyway.So I don't see En -Mige happening.I think, again, As I said to you when we were linked to him middle of last week, I actually think with En -Metre, we're probably being used.You know, the five strands of transfer.

It's total bollocks, it's total true, it's the agent using Man United to get a new deal at the club they're at, or it's Dortmund using Man United to generate interest.But I can't remember the fifth strand now.Oh yeah, the agent using Man United to get him a move out.But yeah, I don't think we'd go for En -Metre.I think he's a good player, but I don't think we'll go for him.

I really don't.On the Tumini versus Mateus Fernandes poll, 16 % of you would go with Mateus Fernandes and 85 % of you would go with Tumini.I mean, that's a bloody landslide.I just want to run this one, actually.I mean, this is a little bit cheeky, I suppose, but this is why I like to do polls.Do you still want Mateus Fernandes?

Forget the money.The circumstances can be whatever you want.He could be still be the second midfielder.Do you still want Mateus Fernandez?Yes or no?AJ the says if the club start discussions with Chumini and Real Madrid I hope that would put the pressure on Fernandez Mendez and West Ham.

Well just on that by the way, I saw a very good Post from an account.I like the Swedish rumble.We bring him in Bring them into the show quite a lot around the finances and They put a post out.I think it was a week ago saying thatthey felt that George Mendez had struck a deal with West Ham so that he and Fernandes get a part of the transfer fee that West Ham gets because £85 million sort of came out after the meeting with the players' entourage.And they quote tweeted it again today.

And I think that we might be completely wrong.

It might be just pure speculation, but it does feel like George Mendez and Mateus Fernandes are just very happy for this deal to, you know, as I said this morning, you sort of, you are sort of scratching around trying to figure out why they're not bothered, whether it's Spurs or Man United.And there must be some, there must be money, there must be some monetary value.

I mean, look, in all honesty, if I'm the agent of, let's say, I don't know, if I'm the agent of Elliot Anderson, and he goes to Man United for 100 million, or he goes to Man City for 115 million, I'm probably getting a percentage anyway, which will be bigger the bigger the fee is.So as an agent, you might want your player to go to Man United, but you might earn a few more million if they go to Spurs.So, and ultimately, football agents don't have the best reputations.They're great when they're doing stuff for your club, but when they're not, it can become a problem.So, yeah, I think it's, I think, there is definitely going to be more money going to Fernandez and his agent if they get the fee that they want.And West Ham want to drive that fee up anyway, because they only bought him from Southampton a year ago.

But AJ's saying if we start conversations with Chiomini, that could put pressure on Fernandez to, you know, potentially move.Pokey Champ says, perhaps it's harsh, but Ifind it kind of off -putting for Fernandes to be open to perennial 17th spurs after being relegated twice already.I mean, there's two things, and I'll answer them.

One, I don't want Mateus Fernandes anyway.

I think he's absolute shit.And I think, you know, no, I'm joking.He's not my priority.I like him, but he's always been a player that Beth likes or you like more.I've never been really, oh my God, he's the best.I never have been.

I like the player and I trust you and the club that he's going to be a top, top player.But I didn't spend last season saying Mateus Fernandes is going to be a superstar and I'm not going to pretend that I did.I thought he was a good player.But I was never going around saying he's going to be, you know, the next Roy Keane or the next Brian Robson or the next, you know, or the next Declan Rice or the next, you know, Sir Bosley or whatever you want to call him.I never I never said that.I said he was a good player.

And to be fair, I'll always be honest.A lot of you were talking about him.And I wasn't.And then when the links became more concrete, I was like, well, you know, it's an exciting signing.He is a good player.And obviously, United are looking at something there.

And, you know, so I'm more than happy to sign him, but I've never been, oh, we've got to go and get him.Elliot Anderson, yes.Tonali, yes.Chiamini, yes.I think all three of those players would be very important for us.

And I like Alex Scott.You know, I think your Mateus Fernandes is my Alex Scott.I like Alex Scott.Every time I've seen him, I really like him.

I mean, on That's Football or when we've watched him play against United, I just like the player.And the fact that he's homegrown, I think, is something that, you know, we're sort of losing our way with at Manchester United.I mean, our homegrown players beyond Mainu really don't get you that exciting.Maguire's going to be gone soon.Luke Shaw,well.

So, yeah, I prefer Alex Scott.But, so look, if we don't sign Mateus Fernandes, I'll be disappointed because it represents us not getting a player that the club wants.But I'm not going to pretend that I was ever massively, you know, obsessed with us signing him.I think he's a good player, and I'm very interested to see how he develops.I didn't ever watch him and go, there's a superstar there.

But in fairness, Real Madrid, PSG, Arsenal apparently were all linked.

And very rarely have I been in those races and said, well, you know, I didn't say with En Hazard, if he's thinking to go to Chelsea, he can fuck off.Or if Ronaldinho is going to go to PSG, he can fuck off.They're still good players.So I don't mind competition.I don't like us losing.But in a way, It verifies that you're going for a good player anyway of this competition and you can't win them all.

I would never expect us to win them all anyway.But it just feels to me at the moment that we're losing a lot.Semenyu to Man City, Anderson to Man City, Diamonde we've pulled out of, Tonali we've pulled out of.So I don't have a problem with Mateus Fernandes saying, I don't care whether it's Man United or Spurs.That's on us.That's not on him.

He'll have more information than us as to why he's not bothered.Maybe the projects are 50 -50.Maybe he's looking at United going in a year's time.They might not be in the Champions League in a year's time.I think Spurs will be.So I don't mind competition for places.

Competition for places is great.I don't mind competition for transfers.I have seen some people online saying, forget it.If he doesn't want to come to us, he can do one.But that's Glazer -nomics.That's Glazer bullshit.

You're literally parroting what you've been fed by the club.We only want players that only want us.

In a couple of years' time, there might be a 23 -year -old playing for Nottingham Forest, who is potentially the best midfielder that's going to play in the Premier League for the next five years.And us and Man City might go for him.And he might not be able to make up his mind.

Are you going to go, fuck off to City, we don't want you?Oh, shit, I've just realised I just realized I've just described Elliot Anderson.But you know what I mean, there might be another one of those.We should be in those races.We should be fighting for those players.And if they choose somebody else, we need to look at why.

Because you can't just say to a footballer, we're Manchester United.We need to look at why they choose someone else.And if it's wages, well, maybe we need to pay better wages.If it's transfer fee, maybe we need to pay a better transfer fee.If it's project, maybe our project's not ambitious enough.There's always a reason.

You can't just go, well, we're Manchester United.You're an idiot for not coming.We need to understand why Semenyu chose Man City.Did he choose Man City because they're in a title race or did he choose Man City because they're offering more money?We need to understand why these players choose other people.But we can't not go into the race.

So I don't have a problem with Mateus Fernandes potentially going to Spurs.If he picks us, great.If he chooses Spurs, I think we need to understand why, because that's a race I would have thought we could win.Thank you very much to Mo.

Perhaps it's harsh, but I find it kind of off -putting, says Pokey.I've done that one, I've done that one.ND says, would you risk waiting for Ciumini and not getting him or getting Fernandez now as a guarantee?Well, I think this is interesting because I said this this morning.I think if we go for Ciumini, we're probably going to end up waiting for you know, maybe up to a month for the World Cup to finish and him have a holiday.

Now, would I be willing to wait a month and pull out the Mateus Fernandes deal and watch him sign for Spurs?Yes.Yes.If I know we're getting Tumini.I mean, it'll be difficult to watch him hold the shirt up and go into pre -season training because he can pre -season and that's an advantage as well.If you get Mateus Fernandes, we're going to see him in pre -season, which would be great because the pre -season games are going to be boring as shit.

We don't even get to see Edison because he's with Brazil.So, you know, there's an advantage there.getting Mateus Fernandes.But I would wait a month to get Chiomini and preseason doesn't really matter because most clubs don't have most of their players.The only problem with waiting a month for Chiomini is I think the pressure and the heat would go up in the fan base simply because we'd be waiting another month from now with no midfielder.And also, if we wait a month to get Chiomini, That's only two midfielders.

Who's the third midfielder as well?So I would be happy to wait, but I think waiting a month without a midfielder would get very interesting in our fan base.

Desiree says, for me, several means Edison, Fernandez and Orozco.Yeah, well, he can't be counting as an incoming player.How high do we go for midfielder and when do we back out?Says Matt.Look, I think if you think a player is the right player, then you've got to pay what it takes.Is there a point where I'd walk away from Mateus Fernandes?

I think if Spurs are willing to serve up £85m upfront, then that's a problem.But if £85m includes add -ons, I think we've got to match that.

That's what I would say.

I can guess.I'll guess for you.Obviously, Edison, Ciumini, Mateus Fernandes, and no one else.

If I had to guess at the moment, I'd say those three players and no one else.Because I can't see who the left back's going to be.I can't see who the striker's going to be.There's just no noise about anybody.So I would say those three.But some people would say you're having a laugh.

Dublin Jackal says, I saw Bale say he chose Spurs over us because he wanted playing time.Perhaps we can't promise that, which would imply another signing too.Yeah, I mean, look, that's been in the back of my head, Dublin Jackal.If we sign Chiamini, then Fernandes would be on the bench.

If we don't, then he'd be starting with Mainu.I know what I think's better.I think Fernandes on the bench with Edison and Ciomini starting with Mainu is a good midfield, but Spurs might start, might be offering him game time.

Mohak says, if Yoro had gone to me, he'd have developed much better.Sorry, if Yoro had gone to Real Madrid, he'd have developed much better.We need to develop Tonali or Ciomini as the main guy instead of a Scott or a Fernandes.And also, you know what, Mohak, just going back to that previous point from the Dublin Jackal.Remember, George Mendes worked on the Yoro deal.He might not be happy.

about what's happened with Yoro, because Yoro is a client of George Mendez, who is two, two years in and nothing's really happening.

It's Luis Enrique, it's double Champions League winners, and he's a very good player.Look, we were never going to get him anyway, were we?I suppose that's one that we've probably walked away from, that we were right to walk away from, to be honest.You know, I would concede that, you know, we would not, we would not have got him anyway.If he wants PSG, we would, we would not have got him anyway, in fairness.

But going back to what Mohak said, Yoro, remember Yoro is a George Mendes client and so is Mateus Fernandes.

And if you're George Mendes and you're looking at Yoro, You would have thought two years in, for £50 million, he'd be starting for Man United and moving towards being one of the best centre -backs in the world.Two years on, he's worth less than what we paid for him.

And maybe George Mendes is going, hold on a minute, I don't want to give you another young player that you're going to mess up, because I was expecting with Lenny Yorow to be earning again at some point.
