We did not know if this would be possible, but we got an okay from the doctor and with some last minute booking between me and Karlyn and her mom, we are going on a babymoon.

It's official.

I've ever been this excited I don't think we actually did a babymoon for Zade or Layla so this is like officially my first babymoon. That's why you're so excited.

I am I am so excited and you booked us in a super nice place. We are pretty stoked it's just

gonna be a chill like not super long trip but it's gonna be just some time for us to spend together before baby number three so as Carlin likes to call it a babymoon but we said goodbye to the kids we got here we got some snacks chilling on a little protein bar and we are like actually super early so we'll probably get some work done some editing done and then it's off to

Florida Florida. And again, this is final immediate boarding call at the gate area for Allegiant Flight 597

with service to Fort Lauderdale.

That's hilarious. Our flight doesn't leave for like 30 minutes. They close the gates normally about 15 minutes before, but they're calling final boarding.

But our flight got in last night so we had a hotel near the airport so we got shuttled over. That took a little bit to wait on that so we ended up getting in bed probably around like 1 o'clock. But we chose to sleep in this morning and it was great very beneficial felt amazing slept great in this bed I don't know if Carlin did or not babe how'd you sleep? I actually thought I slept pretty good. Yes I'm telling you. I got up like maybe three times less than I normally get up in the morning. Oh to go to the bathroom?

Yes, pregnancy at the end is super fun. I'm telling you the pretty nice beds Courtyard Marriott shout out. Today starts the real adventure we are getting an uber ride yes it's a long uber we have like an hour and 45 minutes but believe it or not it is cheaper normally to uber like that than to get a rental car for a few days because we're not really gonna need a car because we're going to like an all-inclusive resort so we are about to hop in an uber we've just been working and getting things done this morning some things we tried to knock out before the babymoon so we could just enjoy each

other's company enjoy the trip so we've been working this morning now we're about to hop in an uber and head almost two hours I guess it's towards like Key West Key Largo Key Largo Montego baby how many times am I gonna do that this Oh wow. This is in preparation for baby. What a cutie.

eating she's like this is so worth it that's like three pregnancy emotions within like three minutes We are at Fishtails. This is one of the all-inclusive restaurants here at our resort. And may I just say, already looking amazing. Menu looks amazing. They've got pasta for Carlin.

She's thinking of the chicken Alfredo. Shocker. But no, that works out perfect because she's not a big fish person think about a little surfing tour so this is night number one we haven't shown you much but we came to dinner and this is just gorgeous

It has only just begun, but we've crammed in a lot for the first 24 hours.

We have. We watched a movie together last night.

Which we actually never do. Like we never watch a movie just the two of us. It's true.

I thought that was actually really fun. It really was. It was like one of those moments like, yeah, it was almost like we were dating. It was back in the days. And that's what Babymoon, I think, whatever you want to call it, I think that's what it's for.

I think it's just time to spend together with each other.

Who was the first person to create a Babymoon? Baby moons used to not be a thing. You know that. No, definitely not. They're more of recent. Yeah. Because we didn't do a baby moon with either of the other two kiddos.

Anyone that's older, if you tell them you're going on a baby moon, they look at you like you're stupid and they think you're just trying to get a trip out of it.

I am trying to get a trip out of it. I don't blame you. I'm excited. And honestly, like this is a very short trip, obviously, just a couple nights, but I think it's already been so good. The hardest part is always leaving our kids though. I feel like it was harder on me this time.

Maybe a hormone.

I think as they get older, you get even closer to them. Everybody always thinks when you're holding a baby, you can never love them more, but I'm sorry, when you see their personality come out and they're getting older, your love just grows.

In my opinion. I do have to agree with that, because it was really hard leaving them. They were so sweet.

But it's given us kind of the time, like we were saying with the movie last night, just to kind of spend with each other, and it's given us time to true, which means we definitely haven't talked about it with you, but like we've been chatting about things like how's the hospital gonna look? Who's in your hospital room? What's our birth plan? Are we bringing the kids to the hospital or bringing the baby home to the hospital? There's so many

questions that like you guys have even asked that like we hadn't even really had the chance to discuss much together and that's just what has made this like so special. Yeah so we've got to chat down a list of things like that. We still have been talking back and

forth names. We'll get to that maybe in a later video because we've not made any

progress. I don't think we have enough options to even want to tell them. Yeah

so when we get the baby name list going maybe a little bit more we'll chat about that but we were talking hospital, stuff like that, because I had to do a checklist at my last appointment about, I guess, what to expect, what I'm okay with, how many people can go in the room and stuff. And it got me thinking because with Layla,

we had both of our moms in the room. And it was during COVID, so that was like max.

Well, it was right, but yeah, it was-

Right as COVID was starting?

Yes, they actually hadn't really implemented most of the hospital rules yet. We had Layla like just before all of the big COVID stuff hit.

Yeah.

But either way, the rule in the like room was only two people. So we picked our moms for like the first kid. Yeah. But it was really hard cause I also wanted my sisters in the room. So that was kind of like-

These Bates girls love to be hyped up. And obviously as good of a job as us husband tries to do, there's nothing quite like some of your sisters being there.

Cause I guess they just get it.

I think it goes both ways.

No, no, no, I get it. Like the sister, like you just get each other. Y'all are all just like.

And I have been in so many of my sister's births. Right. So I really wanted to experience that. Yeah. But then with Zaid, COVID was still going on. Yeah.

So they only allowed one person in the room. My boo, of course. But this time around, I assumed that roles had changed

at our hospital.

And I've already been chatting with my sisters. I'm so excited, this is gonna be my first birth. I'm gonna have all my sisters in the room. And it's just gonna be hype, it's gonna be so much fun. I think, I mean, every person's different, every pregnancy's different.

You can change on what you want or what you don't want. It was also really special with Zade, just to have you and I, it was very bonding.

I was about to say, I think each thing we've done has been special, and that's why I'm not too picky on how we do the next one, because I think either way it's gonna be special.

It is.

Like having our moms was and that was special. Yeah, but I was super pumped about having like sister squad in there and they're like since COVID, they wanted to keep the rule because they have realized I guess that if emergency or something like that happens, it's just better to have. They don't want a crowded room probably. Yeah, so they said I could have one person. I'm like one person? Other than me? Yes, one person other than you. But how can I pick between how many people is that?

How many sisters do I have?

Hey, you've still got some time for them to change the rule, so we'll see.

They're not changing the rule. And I also even was like, can that one person, like I thought, oh think that's an option either. So so far it's just gonna be Evan and I in the room. That'll probably change. You'll probably want to fill the one slot. Well I have to. Yeah, why not? I just haven't picked. That's gonna be really hard. I don't want to pick between them because I'm so close to so many of them and I kind of want all of them in there. Flip a coin, baby. There were some tears when I found that out,

I'm not gonna lie. I was like, cause I've been anticipating this whole, I mean, it's been three years since I had a kid, so I thought since COVID's passed, rules are back changed, but not with my hospital that I'm delivering at.

So that's gonna be a little bit sad. I possibly thought about doing a photographer. We've never had a photographer. Oh yeah, let them snap photos and stuff during it. Yeah, so that like I mean I guess you can share memories through that with like family and all that. That kind of captures it if I can only have one person in my life.

I mean it sounds like we know our options so we just now have to make a

final decision. Yeah, so that was something that we chatted about and then another thing was obviously I'm gonna try and not have a C-section, stuff like that. Obviously, if there's complications, they're like, are you fine with it? Of course, I'm fine with it if something comes up.

I have a question for them. Comment below if you've ever done this, epidural or natural.

What do you wanna say about that? Because you're not experiencing either.

Carlin always asks me she's like what do you think if I did this or what do you think if I did this? I look at it like this. First of all it's it's the woman's body. I don't care what you want to do I just want you safe. If you want to go natural more power to you when there's epidurals out there. That has been a recent topic. But! Just because I feel like it would be cool to experience it. And that's fine, but I want you to know as a husband, it's not like I'm some guy that thinks you're cool or going natural.

Oh yeah, I think literally either way you birth a human, C-section, natural epidural,

I don't know. I don't know.

I've had two with epidural. We've entertained the thought of going natural, but I feel like either way, home birth is out of the question, obviously, with my health stuff, which I would want to be in the hospital just because I would have so much anxiety and stuff. Whether or not we do an epidural or not, we'll see. I feel like if the option is available, I'm definitely gonna take it.

And also, I don't know, like, once I give birth, if being in so much pain is gonna take away from the moment of finding out the gender.

Because you don't know the gender

is gonna be number three.

Wow, lots to think about. I know, and so I'm like, I don't wanna be in so much pain that I can't live in the moment of like, the excitement. But also people say you forget the pain, so who knows what's gonna happen there, that's undecided. Also trying to think overall, obviously things change. You can't have the cookie cutter birth story every time, it's always different and it's always beautiful

in its own way. Yeah. But there are a couple things that we're trying to like get lined up and get in the right mental space for. We went ahead and got a babysitter lined up. One of my sisters is going to be watching the kiddos. And then speaking of that, something that we've never got to do either this time around is obviously with Layla, we didn't have any kids. So no one came to the hospital. And then with Layla, it was during COVID. So kids weren't allowed to come to the hospital. So she didn't get to meet Zade till we brought him home.

But this time around, we can bring our kiddos to meet the baby. And like postpartum checkup, whatever.

I'm so excited about this.

I cannot wait. We've already told the kids, like, y'all are gonna get to come to the hospital and meet the baby and see if it's a girl or a boy.

Just having them in the room, like,

it's gonna be such a party.

I know.

It's also gonna be nice too, cause I remember with Zayde, it was so hard to be separated, even though it's just a couple days. It feels like, you know, you feel torn when you have kids at home and you're in the hospital. So I think that's gonna be really sweet to let them come. And if we don't, and other people come visit, they're gonna know the gender,

and then the kids might find out. And I want them to be the first ones to find out. So I think our game plan is like, to have the kids come pretty much right after, once they get moved to the postpartum floor, which happens about an hour after labor,

is what they told me at my last doctor's appointment.

Wow, that's crazy.

So they can come like right after.

Yeah.

As long as everything's like smooth, baby's healthy, we're okay and adjusting. Obviously, if we need to take some time, we can, but they're gonna be really excited this time. They were already chatting about who's gonna get to hold the baby first. I think we kind of came up with a little we like chatted with them about it. Yeah I've never I've never

had two kids before in this situation so I don't really know what's fair or not you can tell us if we were wrong but I think we got them excited about it because we said well since Layla got to hold Zayd as a baby we'd let Zayd go first. It was her first time being a big sister. But since she's older she can probably hold the baby longer. That's what we told him. So she was happy and he was happy. It's his first time to be a big brother. Exactly. So let him go first but she's older so she'll probably hold it

longer. Yeah. But I guess we'll kind of see how that stuff, that stuff honestly, we were just chatting with the kids and that came up and it was a conversation.

Oh, well because they ask questions all the time.

They're all the time saying, can the baby come early? When's the baby coming?

They're stoked for this.

They are so stoked, they're so excited.

Can the baby come out yet? I'm like, it's not done cooking, for real. It needs a couple more weeks, but we are getting really, really close. Any more info for the birth plan? They did say they are setting me an induction date, which I'm hoping not to. I don't know, I just loved going into labor naturally with Zade.

It was like, I was so hyped.

It was so fun.

It was so exciting.

They also don't want me to carry past a certain point because of blood thinners and clots and the rest with that.

So if you happen to go before it, that's fine.

If I happen to go before the induction date, then yeah, that's totally fine.

I would kind of agree. I've always said this even when like my sisters or friends or whatever had a baby. To me there's something about like getting a call at 3am in the middle of the night. Even when I would just go to my sister's or something, it's just like you hop out of bed, you're excited, you go.

I do think that's probably a little more fun than just showing up at a scheduled time.

I know, everybody likes it different because some people like to have their whole shower, their hair's washed, their bags are packed, they know exactly what to expect, and when they're going in and a babysitter lines up.

I will say both of ours have been pretty sweet. Even Layla's, Carlin went to a doctor's appointment and they were, what, testing some things.

That was kind of crazy.

It was a little scary at first. They were testing some things, they didn't really get all the results to that they wanted or something like that. and I was at work so they ended up just taking her on to the hospital from her appointment and she calls me and she's like they said don't be worried they're pretty sure everything's fine but they're taking me on to the hospital so

like you need to leave work go grab some stuff and come to the hospital that was

pretty fun. That was kind of hectic too but they were already pretty confident that I was gonna go in labor that night anyways yeah like we would rather monitor you overnight and give you steroid shots. Well you remember I was gonna go in labor that night anyways. And they were like, we would rather monitor you overnight and give you steroid shots.

Well, you remember I was working like at the hospital across the street doing electrical work.

You had to pack my hospital bag.

So I went over to you and then after making sure you're okay and everything, I go home and pack like everything.

We didn't have anything packed. We were not prepared. I had like a hair appointment that day, and nail appointment that day. Man, I forget this stuff.

We've already been married six years.

Time flies.

And then Zades, you went into labor, like just full on, and you almost waited too long.

That was my first time experiencing

like pretty heavy contractions are contractions and Carlin sat around she was like I don't want to make sure I'm in labor before I go I don't want him to have to send me home

and she people like experience that a lot a lot of times they think they're

having contractions but they're not. Oh I believe you I believe you so like I saw your face grimacing and I was like let's just go she was like let's hold off a little bit and then she gets there and you're at what was it five centimeters or something? I can't remember. So you practically did go natural already.

Oh gosh, that is not natural, trust me.

So Zades was really fun too.

It's a whole lot fresher to go.

So hey, maybe the induction, if that works out, it'll be different.

I don't know, we're up for whatever God has in store.

Yeah, we are up for whatever. We know game plans can change, my induction day, but we'll see. We'll see what happens and how my body, if it's ready or not, because it may not be ready, you never know. So when you guys see this video, I'll be right at 35 weeks.

So that means, well, we could, I mean I had Layla at 37 weeks and Zayt at 38.

No way, we could be two or three weeks out. Yeah. That's crazy. I can't wait. Anyways, this was just fun. We just kind of were like, we've just been kind of chilling. We were chatting so we were like we should come in. Yeah, we've just been chatting so we're like keep you guys updated because honestly that's the nice thing about where we're at. It's not really that we're doing a ton of activities and stuff. We're to. We have a lot of decisions to make. All right friends we are gonna see if we can hit up some kayaks. This resort has

like so many water things that are included and you get to take advantage of all of it. I wonder if that's like a tour. That sure don't look like a tour to me. I don't know. It was low. and it turns out the only flight going to Knoxville from this airport today, it's only one flight a day, they said, and it is at p.m. So less than three hours left That's good sign. That's good news.
