This so-called pump switching scam is becoming a growing problem and they want to keep you from becoming the next victim.

Police here in Lower Marion Township call this pump switching a nuisance crime. They say it happens from time to time and right now they're noticing an uptick, especially along City Ave where some drivers have fallen victim to this scam.

So the way that it works is they'll take the pump out of your hand or offer to take it out of your hand and put it away for you. And then they'll keep the pump open and your credit card was in there when you swiped it. And then they'll keep the pump open and your credit card was in there when you swiped it. So the next person through, if they give them $20 cash, they just charge it off until the pump stops working or your credit card fills up.
