We're learning a lot more tonight about just who was behind a stunt that seized the spotlight at Pauline Hanson's first National Press Club address.

We'll name the suspect in a moment, but first, Ash takes a look at what the One Nation leader had to say, how she performed, and how someone managed to upstage one of the most popular and divisive politicians in the country.

So for the anti -establishment styled politician to front the institution shows Pauline Hanson is leaning in to the mainstream.

Yes.Well, actually, the National Press Club just released a statement about half an hour ago.It's actually a bit more alarming than we thought before.It wasn't just a poster that's been smuggled in.The club is saying that the whole projector that the poster came down on was brought in yesterday by two people.So we're talking about something quite substantial.

I've been to the National Press Club a number of times.The events are held downstairs but upstairs it's open as a venue to eat and drink.Security would have been very tight today.You actually saw at the end there Pauline Hanson was walking through a metal detector but yesterday there would have been no security and nobody in that building.room downstairs.So now the Australian Federal Police are looking into it.

Yeah, right.So a huge device that was planted in there, right.So we know the group responsible and that's GetUp, but do we know who was involved and if they had someone inside that room?

Well, the club in their statement is all but named David Shiraz, who people may know as Brittany Higgins' husband.And he now works for GetUp.He was in that room today.You can see him there.And he was there when the banner came down.And by looking at it, it seems that somebody would have had to activate that projector.

So, that's likely to form part of the investigation.
