Tense standoff over parking spot turns violent  | A Current Affair

We've all been there at some point.Waiting for a park, then someone else claims it as theirs.What do you do?Do you drive away?For Naz and her family, it led to a 20 -minute standoff.

I feel like we're hostage in our car for 20 minutes.

Parking pandemonium.Lady came and she ran to the car and she's got them.Yes, this bitumen battle looks more like a bitumen blockbuster worthy of an Oscar.All over a car spot.

It was like a pre -Mother's Day movie thing together we were going to do as a family.

Naz, husband Mo and their three kids went to watch the new Michael Jackson movie last Friday.You came for Michael Jackson's thriller but you got another thriller in the car park, right?

Oh, yes.

Naz arrived early and found a spot but soon... a plot twist.

She just started honking and screaming out I indicated first and I said well we're here first and then she wouldn't move her car back.

Naz says a female passenger then came over too.So you were here in the driver's seat what was she doing?

She was just aggressive she was just you know middle fingers screaming shouting banging my window it was just horrible.making calls to her maybe partner or brother and just showing us on video time that you know I don't know what gestures he was doing that he's coming and then another car pulls up and more of her friends or family you know get out of the car and and we were just kind of surrounded.

Yes and no.a cast of thousands.

I have these people in front of my car, not letting me get out of my car.I have children in my car.

Naz calls police.

How many people?

Well, there are two cars now.

The police are saying do not engage with them.I've got their radio number and everything.It's just...it's just ridiculous.What are the threats they're making?They're just...They're not letting us...

They're blocking us from getting out of our car.She was just around the back, preventing me from reversing in.

Really, I don't want to get into confrontation with them.

We were in our car for a good 20 minutes until the security came and escorted us into the shopping centre.

Naz says the other family didn't seem to care.

It was like she was having fun, to be honest.Yeah, because when I took my camera out just to record her, so I can use it as evidence that I'm being harassed here, she said, I'll even F and pose for you.

Wow.

So she was quite happy to be on camera.

Charming.

It was crazy.It was not a good sign of civilization at all.Then when I told the lady I'm calling the police, she also called the police, which was very surprising to me.What are you going to say to the police that they took my car spot, can you come here?

One of the women involved, the driver, made contact with the current affair, claiming they're the real victims.She says she ran into the car bay to stop Naz stealing it, and that's when she claims Naz tried to run her over and began verbally abusing her family first, something Naz firmly denies.Whoever was in the right or wrong after such a dramatic night, you can probably guess how this blockbuster ends.

Surprisingly.once she did her whole show, she ended up getting a car spot three or four cars away from me.

Naz told them to beat it.And did you end up saying Michael Jackson in the end?Yes, we did.

We're a bit late to the show, but yeah, we just wanted to teach our kids that, you know, these things happen and you just have to keep yourself safe.That's our priority number one.And then life goes on.We didn't want to spoil the night.

All over a cuss spot.Police tell us they spoke to both parties over the phone and there was no need for them to attend.We just hope the movie was worth it.
