to represent all of your cultures, like not just individually, but as a group of like acceptance that music has struggled with traditionally. You know what I mean? And like, that is, I think what is so beautiful to me, even again, like when I went to your shows and I see like An eight -year -old girl freaking out and the fact that she's gonna get to age with you, you know, like I like that was us like Ariana It's still me Do you ever feel like pressure associated with that being the first of your kind in some way I wouldn't say pressure.
I mean, like she was saying, it's like really just truly an honor. It definitely has its little like ups and downs, but I don't think pressure is the word.
Good.
I think it's like a responsibility.Yeah.
Yeah.Great.Great.Great.
And like responsibility is a beautiful thing, but it comes with a lot of needing to be at your best, needing to think more, make the right decisions, which is a pressure, but it's not a bad pressure. It's a pressure that we're very excited to have.
Yeah, with great power comes great responsibility.Do you guys realize how much you've accomplished at your age?
Actually, no.Actually, yes.I was just thinking about it.
Good for you.Good for you.
I don't know.I'm21. I think it's because I'm about to turn22. Yeah, okay, I'm about to 22 yay birthday, but like also like wait a second like pause think about what you've done in the last year only and like you I have like friends that you know, just I don't know like they have that dream and They're like you're doing it and I'm like, I'm like, yeah Yeah, and realize that like I am I'm doing what I love and I'm doing what I've been dreaming of doing since I was like Very, very young.
Five.I've seen those videos of you on America's Got Talent.Yeah.Like all of them.Like it is, you areliving your dream.
I am.And like Grammys, VMAs, AMAs, Coachella, Lollapalooza, we're going on tour, sold out tour. It's just like, what the actual heck is happening?
I think sometimes we can get like lost into like just like the rehearsals and like the day -to -day schedule that we forget, like the big things that we accomplish.Like, I think sometimes we're like so in lock -in mode being like, okay, like we're prepping for this new music video. Then we're prepping for tour. Then we're prepping for Coachella. Then we're prepping, like, we're all like, so work focused that sometimes we can get lost into it.But then like, we have to take those moments being like, wow, like we're actually achieving so much.
And like, really being, being able to take it in is like really, really sick.Like I remember for AMAs, like after we got on stage, we were all just like, Oh my God.And then we had a dinner after and just like, wow, like we have done so much, which is so, so sick.
And you worked so hard for it.
Yeah. That's the, the best part.Like, it's like, I remember all the rehearsals and blood, sweat and tears that we put into everything that we do.So it's like when we get, And when we're able to accomplish our dreams, it's like we really put in the work for it.So it feels even 10 times greater.
Yeah. There's this one, Sophia, you have this one quote that I love, where you said, it's important to surround yourself with people who knew the dreamer before they knew the artist. And I think it's also very beautiful that you all knew the dreamers, like each other's dreamer.
I know.Yeah.I was actually talking about that recently. My friend from the Seraphim Union came over and we were talking about how the people we surround ourselves with, especially like the ones we go back to, a lot of them are our friends and family that really knew us when we were here.putting all of these, like manifesting all of this, you know, like praying about it, telling everybody about it, working hard, like those people really know who we are deep down. And I feel like that's why it's a little more difficult now for us to create certain connections and for them not to just see like the cat's eye front that we have to put up.

Get started freeAnd that's why it's really special that each of us have people that we do know, have known for a long time. And as traumatizing as it was, it really was a, it really was a great experience to have a time like Dream Academy, because again, we got to like know each other. We got to become sisters before cat's eye even happened. And so we have this solid foundation where we know each other and we know that each of us are hard workers. You know, we know each other's work ethic and all those things. So it really means a lot.
to have that, you know, in our position.
And I wish that people could like see the way you guys interact with each other off camera. We're actually best friends. There was like a 15 minute dialogue about Laura's hair and Megan was petting her in the kitchen.
Like the sun, like we're, we fucking love each other so much.I think it's like, The more you say it, it's like people will never understand how much we love each other. They'll never understand because I think it's also obviously we've been through so much.So that obviously keeps us close and keeps us bonded. But I think just in general, like we got really lucky with just a genuine friendship with each other and like a friendship so close that we fight. We're sisters.
But then we like come right back to it.I think the core of it is that we celebrate each other's wins.
Yeah.
And like when someone else has their own individual success, it feels like mine. It's become unconditional.Vice versa. It's veryunconditional.Yeah.
And we are so lucky.to be blessed with that, because not everyone is.
No, no, no, no.And it's also, I think, like, why this worked.
Yes.
You know what I mean?Chemistry is everything.Yeah.And even like the silliness of it all.Like, I love the clips of like, you guys would be like a clip from live and it's like, don't wake Yoon Chae.Yoon Chae is like the secret mom sometimes.
You know what I mean? She is.It's sweet.Like it's it you can tell that you guys are like love each other as sisters.
Yeah. They're like the first to know everything.
No, when something happens, but you guys like, yeah.Oh my God.
Yeah. The other day I got into a car accident and I texted the group chat right away.I was like, God, we just crashed my car.
That's crazy.I, I one time got in a car accident listening to crank and I was like, When you guys like look back at yourselves How different do you feel from the girls in that documentary?
Oh my God, I was so different.
You're very different.Yeah, I'm like, even from like when you first came and like now.Ah, true.Like the fish eye.

Get started freeOh my gosh, the fish eye. It's because I was very, very, very young that when we were filming documentary and I feel like, like I was like, my brain wasn't that developed.I mean, she was15. Yeah, you were a baby.I mean, we were all babies.
I actually don't really remember.
No, same.I don't remember either. Also, like so many things happened. So I think maybe that's why it's like gone.
Overload.Overload.
But yeah, I think, yeah, I, I was very different.
Yeah, I can't watch that documentary.I cringe at myself every single time. It's because I I'm only 20 now.But during that documentary, I was I was 15 to16. So I was going through my awkward stage on camera.
I swear every time I came to the studio with no makeup on and not trying that's when the cameras were there And then when I tried to like look cute the cameras weren't there Yeah, you know I actually don't feel that different really to be honest I I think when I watch that documentary I can Tell that I was holding back parts of myself.Yeah, I think that I was like trying to be the perfect Person and even when we would film in the documentary I don't think I was being fully a hundred percent authentic because I was trying to be a version that would like guarantee my spot I think I was like trying to be really calculated and when I look back I'm like girl like just be yourself like I Like, I feel like my nature has stayed the same.I look back and I'm like, that's a very hungry girl who wants it.She wants it.And I still feel like that same person. But I definitely feel like I understand what matters in life a little bit more now.
Like, love and empathy.is like the core values of life and that's what keeps everything going and I think that we have taught each other that as well through this time.
What do you feel like has evolved most about your artistry since that time?
I feel like being able to take a little bit more risks.I feel like back then, especially with like the structure that we went through with the training process, it was like evaluations.Like we spent a month doing the same dance to do for the eval and then the same song doing for the eval. And like, it was so rigorous, so structured. So like, you have to do this to get 10 out of 10.So it was like, so structured to the point where like, we didn't want to step outside of the box because we needed to get that score to, like, improve.
But I think now as an artist being on that stage, like we're able to like tap into our artistry a lot more and like make our own, like we can think about, Oh, like I want to do like, I want to crawl or I want to do a back bend on stage.Like we have a lot more fun and we can like take a lot more risks.I feel.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I feel like you guys have really evolved as dancers.
Yes.
Like when I watched that Gabriella dance break. It's everything.
We're doing cartwheels and everything.Me and Danny were actually supposed to do an aerial.Yeah, they were like, that's like a cartwheel with no hands. But then we were just like, why are we doing? There's no, there's no song that we have to be doing an aerial.
So we just, I'm like, yeah, I also was just doing an aerial yesterday.Wow.That's crazy.I mean, speaking about risks, I want to talk about Gnarly because there was some intense pushback to that song at the beginning, but now it's like the fan favorite.

How was that experience for you as well?
Pretty epic.
Yeah, it was pretty epic.
I think it was pretty cool.
We kept reminding ourselves about Lady Gaga. No, we were trying to say that with Lady Gaga the type of artist that she is is that she didn't care if she made people Uncomfortable like that was her impact totally like that was what that's what she does. She will just come up with what she's feeling. She fully puts her full artistry into something and people in the beginning will not understand it.People in the beginning are like, I don't understand. They were clutching their girl.
They were just like, they're just afraid of somebody to sort of step out of the box and make something else, you know, come out with something different that people aren't used to that's not trending or things like that and sort of be a trendsetter, make something new and not everybody's trying to do that now.And for us to have a moment where we came out with something and everyone's like, this is horrible.Like, why would you come out with that? But then realize that, hey, like that's that's the artistry, like putting out something so interesting and impactful.Totally.
It's like polarizing.Yeah.You can't listen to that song and not feel something.Yeah.And that is the pull of it.It's like the song is gnarly.
You know what I mean?
It's like it's yeah. You feel you hate it or you love it.
Right. And I hate it until you love it.
Yeah.I think like we made a decision where we were like, we do not want to do things that are just like, it's cool.Yeah.It's like this, whatever. That was good. And then you forget about it.
Like we want it to like stick in people's heads. And I think that the controversy of gnarly prepared us to do that for the rest of our career.Yeah.when people give us hate now it's like whatever like I think it really taught us that things can switch up like that yeah and people's opinions cannot affect our own opinion of what we Of anything and it was so impressive to me that as artists you guys like pushed it and stood by it You know what?
I mean? And like like posting so many videos of the choreo and all this and like we're like, I know we're gonna win you over Yeah, you know what I mean?Like you really did and I just thought that was the coolest thing ever.
Yeah.Thanks.
Thanks And yeah, and also like that picture of you guys with like your face in the meat packaging lives in my mind rent -free Oh my god, it's so good. It's so good. That was cool switching gears I want to talk about another like the iconic moment of Cat's Eye.We got to talk about the Gap ad.
Oh, I love that.
It was like a moment of culture.Did you guys like when you were shooting it think it was going to be as big as it was?
Transcribe all your audio with Cockatoo
Get started freeNo, but we knew it was going to make some sort of impact because of how iconic it is in general, like working with the choreographer, the concept, like everything was So good, like the song Milkshake as well.So we knew it was going to do good, but we were like, what the heck?Like, we just didn't expect it to be such a positive, positive impact, especially like on our own, like cultures and just like representing that, like each of us being from somewhere different and being able to just have that on such iconic.Gap campaign.Yeah.
Really, really sick.
Yeah.It was so cool.
And I also think again, like when we were talking about, you know, like representing your people, like what was so beautiful about that is it's like it was in like malls.Yeah.Like, you know, like not just like you never know, like how older people are or super young.are like scrolling on TikTok or whatever.
It was like in the wild, like the actual world.
In the wild.
Yeah, literally.
And it was everywhere.Like it was, it was something that like only you could have done. You know what I mean? And again, like that's when I, like those moments that I feel like are consistently like the highlights of Cat's Eye are when it's like, no one would have been able to do this besides you.
Yeah, thank you.
You know what I mean?
That's really sweet.
For sure. That's really sweet. For sure.I mean, and at the time, like considering what's happening politically and very cool for a brand to like be willing to do that.
Yes.Yeah, that's true.Yeah, it was.I think also Gap is so sickening to me because they are like the coolest ever.Their visuals are the coolest. They celebrate something meaningful with every collab they do.
But then it's also so accessible and it's like we all grew up with the brand Gap.But then now it's like, They also have Gap Studios and the dress for the Met Gala, but then like, but it's still so accessible and like anybody can get Gap, but feel really confident in it.Like that's, that was another thing that I think we were really excited to like collab with them for. It's like, anybody can wear this.
And I think that's how it like impacted culture. You know what I mean?It was like, because it was in such a different lane than anything you guys had done before. And But that's what made it beautiful. You know what I mean?Did it really like make you realize your value as a group and what you can offer?
A little.I think it also is something that we've known for a while that we could do so much.Yes.With a global girl group. You know, like there was so much so many goals that we wanted to do.And I think doing a gap, doing an ad like Gap was one of the goals.
And it really was one of the spaces when we were like, wow, we madesuch an insane impact with this. And it was something that was beyond posting on social media, something that was beyond making music or just like, yeah, it was like a music video. It was like, it was like a music video. And it was also an ad that we didn't realize that we were going to be in all the stores.Yeah.
And that's why we've been like being in the wild and just simply showing up as ourselves even if people didn't know like it didn't really exactly say cat's eye on everything you know like you would just simply see like all these girls like performing and dancing in full denim and you're just like whoa you already feel represented that way in that sense like simply just something like that we were like wow we can we have to continue to do this like you have to continue to authentically be ourselves even with gap they were like We'll do your makeup the way that you want to, your hair the way that you want to, wear your own jewelry. They really said, come as you are.And even the denim outfits that we were wearing, they were like, we're going to cater it to what you feel comfortable wearing.Like, what is Sofia?Like, what is Dani?Like all those things.

And that's also why it worked.Yeah, that's why it worked. It was just like I wanted brands to realize, like, it's authentic.
And like also letting artists and just people in general, like be, not have to fit into a box.Like that's what makes a true collaboration.Like that's what makes people shine. And I think that's what makes both parties shine too.And I feel like as we were doing it, we were like, bitch, this is what we should be doing.Like this is the why.
This is the why.
This is my why. It's the mission. That's so beautiful.
Yeah.
What was it like to be on that Coachella stage?
Oh, my God.I blacked out, I think.Really? You think?I feel like here's mentally what happened with me.I kind of told myself Oh, it's just another performance because you have to or else you're gonna psych yourself out and be like, oh my god It's Coachella and then I'm gonna forget the choreo forget them like lyrics forget everything probably crash out throw up on stage So I was like, okay.
I have to think it's just another performance so during it i was just like it's just another performance and then i think a week after it hit me and i was like bitch you did coachella like it's like it's coachella like it's not just like another show so it was definitely really really crazy especially only in like two years of doing this to be able to just do Coachella and say that we performed both weekends is really, really cool.We had a huge, huge, huge crowd.
I was in the boondocks.
Of course, I was there.
Oh my god.Weekend one was, I mean, we had hundreds. We had hundreds.
How was that? How was it doing?
Dude, it was beautiful. It was so beautiful.Like, they were the sweetest and we, like, this arrangement and everything.
How were our unnies?Our unnies?
Literally, we got off stage and they were, like, crying with us.Like, it was so good.
Yeah, I remember I couldn't find my mom, so I had to teach her.
That's so cute.I mean, I feel like you guys see each other in a certain way of like they are, they have crazy lore also as artists, you know, of like being songwriters and being in this industry for a long time. And then randomly there are these girls that are put together and it like happened for them so quickly.

So I feel like that that's also like a beautiful part of the narrative of like that performance of like, in some ways you shared a path, you know what I mean?
Yeah, for sure.
um how was a lot how was like preparing how long did it take actually
we didn't have that much time to prepare for Coachella. We've kind of chaotic a week and a half or two weeks It's just because we just came back from our Lollapalooza Latin America tour So then we had like literally a week and a half or like two weeks to prepare for Coachella Which is actually like not bad like not like a set a lot you feel like we usually have so much rehearsal but for Coachella like we didn't have that much but I feel like it kind of made us not psych out as much.I feel like, cause we didn't have so much to think about. We were just like, let's just go out there and do it.
I didn't feel like that.Really?I had so much to think about.
Cause I feel like when you over prepare for something, then I feel like I'm in my head too much about like all the details and small little things. For sure.
But I feel like we, I feel like we were, we got to the mark where we were fully prepared, but we were a little bit like two days before, like under prepared.I'm not going to lie. There was like a couple, Like new choreo like new arrangements obviously like with the girls We had to for golden like we had to like learn these new harmonies last minute. We had like one more Yeah, one rehearsal tricks before we went on stage.
I can't believe you just like yeah, we only had a week and you just served I love that like I like like I need to know what I'm doing and then just like doing it like not Yeah, too much cuz then it it just feels like not authentic Like I like to know the bare bones in the structure.
Yeah, and then when I'm on stage like it's just what comes out Yeah, what happens happens and like that makes me feel free Yeah, cuz also if you like drill it too much then like you lose the spark you like you like and yeah It's like the hundredth time doing it when you get on that stage like but when you're like when I feel like when you like don't prepare as much it's just likeI'm gonna just do whatever. It's more fun.It feels good to me.
Coachella was like.We were hungry.
Yeah, you were excited.Yeah, you were.Yeah.And you know, you're going to headline one day.
Oh, my God.Yeah, of course.
Manifesting, hopefully.I feel like I'll be in the crowd.I'll be in the crowd.
We did headline Coachella.Yeah, we're manifesting.We're manifesting.
You did headline Coachella.Right.
That's us.We headlined Coachella and it was so amazing. It was awesome. What did you think of the headline?
I loved that set and those songs that you played at that time.It was groundbreaking. It was really great.I was also at your Walla Clusa performance.

Are you going to come to tour?
Will you help me?
Absolutely.
I have tickets.
Yeah, we have tickets.
Bring a friend.
Bring two.
I would love to.Yeah.Me and your mom are going to end up talking to her.
Just come with my mom. She'll like make you food.
You're going to come home one day and I'm eating at the table.
It always ends up happening.
That's exactly the scenario.
And I love it.That's what I'm getting adopted.Every group of girls needs its gay.I agree.Every group of girls needs its gay and I'm happy to shoulder that burden. We love that.
Very true. Also at Coachella you played Pinkies Up for the first time, right?

Pinkie Up.Were you excited to debut that song?Really excited.I love that song, personally.Yeah?
Yeah. It's very just...very like upbeat very exciting So it gets the crowd like jump in and scream in and we like that energy it motivates us to also like Just like do our best on stage and give just like put it all out there.
Yeah, it's good. It's got that beat you want to like I love that and they all like sending energy.
Yeah, and they're like rising at once It's so cute because when people like sometimes when fans see us they'll just be like but they don't even do that they'll be like It used to be like this.
I thought about when you guys came in being like - They used to be like this. But I think also a lot of the magic of Cat's Eye songs is that there is this like that the fan gets to embody, right?Like, Gabriela has, like, the hand.Yeah, and it's a piece of the choreo that's, like, because, like, we can't dance like you, babe.Like, I wish I could, but I can't.But I can do this, you know what I mean?
And, like, that's really beautiful, I think. And especially, like, young girls and stuff, too.Like, they just can't yet, you know what I mean? So, like, I think that's a beautiful thing.Like, it's, like, fostering, like, Yeah.
So hand grab.Yes.
We want everybody to dance and join in with us.Absolutely.
I mean, you guys, you've got a lot to dance to.
Yeah.
A lot to dance to.
Everybody better be jumping.
I mean, speaking of things to dance to, let's talk about the new EP.Listen I listen to it all.
What do you want to know?
Yeah, baby everything we're gonna talk about all okay.
What's your favorite? What is what do you want to hear at a party like this is a tough?
I can't it's like ask me to pick a favorite child.

I love Unlove You.Yes.Because it's, I've wanted you to do a ballad for so long.
Yeah.
And it's like we all knew it was gonna happen at some point.
Yeah.
And this is like the true, Like, oh, y 'all can sing.
It's like sad.
Yeah, it's beautiful.
And it's like reflective of like our life.
Yeah. And Laura, you wrote and produced I Love You.
Yes.
Tell me about that, dude.
I was OK. I have been wanting it's been one of my biggest goals to get my little cat's eye cut for like forever.Like because I My like passion passion is making music and like creating it.So I think it's just something I've been like dreaming up for a long time. But it was never quite like the right moment. The song never quite fit like what where we are as a group. And I think I love you was like the first time that it like clicked and the timing was right.
We were all ready to like really sing our asses off and like heartbreak.Talk about that.Talk about like.real -life thing that girls go through I think like Especially our music in the first era was it all kind of had this theme of like longing for love Yeah, but I think we at least some of us have like we've been through it and had our hearts like Through the mud like it happens and I'm always like I really want to sing about that Like I want to tell that story because everybody goes through it at some point and it's yeah awful But we all come out of it in a different way.So I also referenced Never Be The Same by Camila.I think it's just like the fucking best song.
I loved that song.I referenced Miss Moving On, Fifth Harmony.Wow.used to love, and I always will love Fifth Harmony. And I think that their ballads were just growing up insane. They shaped my life.
I wanted to write a song for us that girls and people would hear and feel like they grew up with that song, if that makes sense.Miss Movin' On will always be a song that reminds me of Fifth Harmony.my childhood and my growth. And it's like an integral part of my taste.Yeah.Like who I am, if that makes sense.
Yeah. But you realize that the way you feel about them is the way that millions of people feel about all of you.
So that's crazy.I think it's a big goal of ours to come up with music that people can run to based on what they're experiencing. When you experience that heartbreak, when you're going through that, like running to a song like I love you, I love you.See, that's where the heartbreak is.They like, they're trying to unlove it.That's what it is.
Transcribe all your audio with Cockatoo
Get started freeBut like, I feel like that's something that's so beautiful. And like what Lara said, it becomes a time in your life.It becomes a theme song of like a chapter in your life. And I think that's so beautiful. And then when you, I remember Danny and I were at, We were at Jingle Ball and we were watching like Niall perform a song and Danny started crying.God, I was sobbing.
What was he singing? He was singing um...
This town, waking up to kiss you.And then like Danny just tried to cry.And I remember I was like, wow, like songs really take you back to like a moment. You know what I mean?
Yeah, it does. It's a time counsel of your life.
I want this to be that song. And I also want I wanted this song to like feed the icons, like what at least some of what they've been asking for, which is our singing and like a really like a more real.Version of us and I also feel like every girl has like a little moment.Oh, yeah to show yeah Yeah, they can do and like everybody here can singNothing we're not missing any vocals in this so Yeah, I'm just so excited about it.
I am so excited for you for you other for like Is writing or producing something you ever wanna do?
I love writing and producing.Yeah?Yeah, I like, it's, yeah, yeah.Yeah, I feel like, like even me and Laura have had like sessions together.Yeah, we have. It's like, I just love doing it for fun and even just like hopefully one day being able to like put it into Cat's Eye and or somewhere else, it'd be so much fun.
Yeah, that's awesome.It will happen for sure.For sure.I believe.
Yeah.
And it's and it's like special again. It's a piece of you for forever and ever in general about the EP.Like what about this EP are you most proud of?
Personally, I'm very proud of the growth. And that's the thing. When you asked earlier about our artistry and what the difference is, it's the risk. And I feel like more and more we're taking risks in terms of how we function every day, what we take initiative to do just as artists, like our choices.saying what we're starting to say a lot more and allowing people to take into account what we say, like take it seriously. With this EP, every single time we release something, it's just a step closer to what we want to achieve as artists.
And as we go down the line, we do learn a lot more. And that's why we feel like as we go down, we're more equipped to sort of do things. And that's why with this EP, like having a song that Lara got to write and produce on.And for example, one of our favorite songs is That Way.And I feel like that song for us is just so like, it's so fun.And we got to sort of sing in a sense.
lot more where it's more based on like our feeling and then we got to like ad -lib on it a lot and just like really vibe with it you know it was a lot of that kind of energy and I feel like we haven't fully gotten to like fall into that fully with our music and it's really it's really nice to like have that opportunity and it's also us still showing a lot of our versatility through the music like every time we've come out with an EP we want to give different flavors, you know, different colors in our music.
It's like Hootie Fruity, but then Unlove You.
But then you'll hear Unlove You and it's like, you can't believe you're in the same EP.Yeah.You know what I mean? It's like there's not only diversity in Cat's Eye, but also in our music.Like that's what we want.
It's like there's a little something for everyone.
Yeah.Even with this EP, like we're like, wow, there are a lot of things that we still haven't done.and we're like okay it makes me so excited it makes me it makes us so excited because it's like we realize like all of us have such a different music taste all of us like like you were talking about writing and producing like all of us are constantly like having our own things and it's so drastically different from one another and so just the idea of that knowing that we're gonna constantly keep creating so many things and you know like almost like build a genre for ourselves, like how, like build our sound, but we want it to be like so broad, but at the same time, unique to us.
Yeah. And I feel like we're also like constantly coming up with ideas.I feel like once we put out something, we're like, okay, I'm so excited to even do the next thing and the next thing and the next thing.Yeah.Like we, we love what we do so much.Like we genuinely love it.

Get started freeThat's so cool. And I feel like you feel that, you know what I mean? This is fun. It's so much fun. There's starting to be these little pockets of sound, you know what I mean?Yes.
Like Gnarly and Internet Girl. And even Hootie Fruity is a little...It's very Brazilian. It's very black. But it's got a little bit of that, you know what I mean, to it, where you're like...And you want to dance.
I feel like we are longing for that true duality. And we've shown that, but I feel likethink even in our next projects, it's like, oh my God, let's really fall into that and make that a thing. We have the beauty and we have the chaos.
Yeah, beautiful chaos, baby.
Beautiful music that's truly, truly, all the way beautiful, and feels real, and makes me wanna cry, and has emotion in our voice. And then we have the clunty, Dance shit cuz we aren't that we are both and like can't wait to emphasize that even more But this EP is such a big step.Yeah.
Yeah, beautiful step Sophia you talked about risk. What do you feel like was the biggest risk you took on this project?
I feel like the biggest risk we took on this project is I was really thinking about Megan's answer earlier about how we used to just I feel like we over -rehearsed a lot in our early days. And a lot of it is the training. One of our biggest skills, and I think one of the biggest things we got from the K -pop methodology is the synchronization, the cleanliness. And literally, if you blur your eyes a little bit, it's so incredibly synchronized. And I feel like that is a skill that takes so long to develop, and that's why we spend so much time in training. And that is one of our strengths.
But I feel like a big risk that we're taking is looking at how our schedule is so much busier now that we have those short rehearsals, so we kind of have to make up for a lot of it using our artistry. And I think the risk and the big step that we're taking is as we're discovering more about ourselves, we're able to bring that out more. But at the same time, our training is still very apparent where you could see the synchronization and the skill set there. But on top of it, we're starting to add our own judge to things. We're starting to add our own sauce.
Yeah.
And it's like our personal dance styles are starting to come out a lot more, you know, and I feel like on top of the training, that's something that's allowing us to sort of shine even more in our performances and feel more raw.You know, that's somethinglike the wild chaoticness that we're kind of talking about that we're starting to bring out It's like more of us like who we are.Yeah, you know That's something that aren't a lot of artists know from the beginning or like it develops and all that stuff and we're very lucky because so early on we're like really Tapping into that, you know applying that.
Yeah, and I think exactly to what you said to it's like in line with the theme of the group right it is a global girl group of five different people from five different cultures and like backgrounds and things and like to be like we're only gonna have one sound would not be reflective of what is cat's eye you know what i mean absolutely and i think that that is like a cool thing like you feel it you know what i mean as it as it goes on even songs like Like Bel -Air is a lot more like my way kind of type, you know what I mean?Like driving with the windows down of PCH, like you're with your girls, you know what I mean?Like it's very wholesome and uplifting. And like, as you guys continue to go on, I like see the sort of dots you're connecting, I think, with each project, which is really, really cool and fun to see.Animal.I love animals.
Yeah, it's cute.Animals are so fun.To me, when I heard it, it reminded me of, like, Foster the People.Yeah, Feel It Still. No, who's Feel It Still? That's Foster the People.
No, Foster the People is Pumped Up Kids.Oh, wait, no, yeah, Feel It Still is Portugal the Man.Portugal the Man.
You're right.She got there.She got there.
But it's like the same, like the same little vibe.Like, that's what it reminded me of.It felt like, it felt like...Bit more like indie, but then also like so commercial.Yeah But I I want animal to be our espresso By the time this comes out it already is
Like I want to come into the uber and the radios on it like they play it and it's there And I asked it to change the station, but it just keeps playing Grocery shopping and I hear animal, but I Would really give you the Britney Spears of it all was the strength it's like yeah Which is very like listen to toxic and animal back -to -back after this way Yeah, like the the breaks of strings and also the strings is like a kind of a new thing to your sound Yeah, we've never done a string.I love it.
And I love us.I love it.
So fiercely the sound of us like the A hook of a song just being like raw strings is so, like, just cool. You know what I mean?

Yeah, it's like a different groove that we're bringing in.Different.
Yeah.
And even the dancing is very, very different than what we've done before.
I'm excited to see it.
The choreography. It's very fossy. It is very fossy.
It's like a little pause.
There's a little jazz.Oh, I love that.And there's a little bit of like jazz.
It's very jazzy.I love it.
And then I start belting and I'm like whipping my head There's a triple pirouette from Danny like I'm just kidding no Maybe we'll do the animal dance break. We'll start doing like Right here right now We'll leave it up to y 'all.
was that one of the writers on it was Ed Sheeran, who also wrote for One Direction. How crazy is that?
You can hear his influence.
Yeah, but it feels so yours.
Yes, for sure.Though the spirit of Ed is fully there. But I think the spirit of Ed is on an animal, and that's wonderful.Like, that's epic.
I think that's a bit of what you're talking about, the sort of like, when you're like, the fossil of the Portuguese man type vibe. But I think it feels so you.
Yeah, for sure.
Like, when I first heard it, I actually didn't even think that at all.
Really?But you thought Britney.

Wait, that makes me feel so happy.
That's cool.
I'm telling you, it's like...
But from all the people who've said that, you're the first person that has like... said that everyone who listens to it is always like, oh my god, Ed, the spirit of Ed is alive.
The ghost of Ed.Oh my gosh.
Wait.
Listen to it, this is on, when you drive home from here.
Okay, I shall.
Wait, you guys, we have a song with the spirit of Ed and Britney, like, that's crazy.Like, who could do that?No one!
Yeah, it's so epic.I'm excited.
I also feel like the the visuals are gonna eat but oh, yeah Oh, yeah, you'll to be in the same element as like the biggest boy band of our generation People compare us to like One Direction like you guys like there's no way cuz I'm like a direction er, okay, okay Okay, and let's like when you I remember we were in we were in I forgot we were in Australia and they were saying like oh We haven't seen something like this Ever since like One Direction early days, and I was like, why are you lying?Yeah, stop it.
That's so weird when we hear stuff like that. One Direction is different.Like, yeah, that's another level.
Why, it's boys.
No, no, it's another level.Like, One Direction and Spice Girls will always be...So iconic.
Like, they're just like...Too iconic.Yeah, they're up there.
But you're, you are comparing yourself on three EPs.to like a decade of my career.Do you understand?
I don't understand.

Are you sure?
That is very sweet of you to say.
so thank you yeah i don't believe you but you never have to believe me it's beautiful to never believe me no but we're staying humble i feel like when we are at events like the amas and we were at the grammys and everything and these people that we grew up listening to or we looked up to they would come up to us and be like you guys have worked so hard and like, you guys are here and you deserve it.I'm like, what do you mean we deserve to be at the Grammys?Like, you're here.Like, why am I in the same room as you?
Like, we're constantly.
Because you worked hard for it and you're amazing.
That's another thing, I think, especially at the Grammys, we would constantly remind each other, like, OK, guys, we belong here.Like, we are not out of place here.Because I think there were many moments where we either internally felt or either we were like a little bit made to feel like it was, like we didn't belong there. But I think we just kept grounding ourselves and being like, we're so grateful for this, but we're also like, we're not like a fish out of water.Like we're meant to be here.
That is your pond.
Yeah, that is our pond. That's so crazy. We've worked really hard and like, we have made a beautiful impact and that deserves to be in this special place that's being celebrated.
and yeah a groups of hundreds of people who have been in this industry for decades you like Collectively agreed and decided that too.Yeah, like it's not just you're whoa Yeah And underestimating what you're capable of and that is like what I'm trying to tell you of like you have like really impacted people and you're doing something that no one else is or can do.
Thank you.
And that's like what artistry is, you know, like that. That's what that's why Cat's Eye is significant.
Thank you.I think they're crying. It's like it's like a battle in our heads because I I love to like be confident and like be like that and be like, hell yeah, like this is what this is and we deserve this. But then also I like that our feet are on the ground.Yeah.And like we still see ourselves as like very regular people.
You are very regular. We are very regular people. The core of this is like we just love sing and dance and we love music and we love each other and like that is like it's it's just always good to remind yourself like where where it started like the girl before like all of Dreamer before the artist for the artists all before all this craziness, but it is good for us to recognize.Yeah Every now and then we'll be like, oh my god.Yeah, I think I think we could we could be better at that Yeah, I'm in like hyping ourselves up a little bit Do you guys ever look at each other and you're like you're just so hot yeah, I do you're so fierce Literally earlier Megan was like touching Laura and being like I just want to keep looking at you I was like you look like a goddess
I forget how talented you guys are I remember when we were learning the gnarly dance break, for example And then Megan was learning her part like the one when you're like and like her like dynamics Watching Megan I was like I forgot you could move like that Period I was like wait you're Sometimes like Lara I would be right after her in the recording studio and then I'm like watching her and she's like doing all the rods and I was like I was like, you're so talented.Like I forget all the time.I was just watching one of the TikToks we came out with and I was like looking at you and I was like, damn, like she's like dancing.I forgot that you have that.
Like I always forget.
And you can dance your fucking ass off and sing your ass off.Right?Like when I see Danny's like childhood videos, I'm like, oh yeah.Like it always happens.
You guys have crazy lore.Crazy internet war.

Wait, I saw someone, I saw a reel of someone being like...When you're watching Disney Channel, and you find Megan Skindle from Cat's Eye.And she's like...And she was like doing some like... some fucking snap dance.
And she was like, can't wait to mini golf.I can't escape it.I literally can't escape it.I was a working child.I was butch back then.I wasn't color me mine and then they gave me an ad and I was like, Megan?
I'm like, I can't escape my childhood.
And also when they put that on my IMDB after I did that commercial, they put my name wrong.Like they called me Morgan Skindale instead of Megan Skindale.
So like, Especially the three of us, I mean we've alldoing this since we were babies yeah the three of us we were like industry kids and So our ugly photos from like random shows. We did it like Wikipedia page it's so like it's literally like the first picture that pops up when you search up like Daniela Avanzini and she's Look at the camera and talk to Wikipedia and please change it But I just looked at my bio a couple days ago so much wrong information.
Oh my god They said my birthday is like June 1st.I'm like girl Yeah, it's a lot of weirdness.
But I think it's also, Wikipedia, you can edit it.Anyone can edit it.
Anyone can edit it.
Seriously?Yes.Wait, what?
Yeah. But there's people who check it.But it's like if you caught it before somebody proofs it, then it's just wrong.
Wait, what do you mean anyone can edit it?
You can go on right now.Laura, go in and change your picture. You can't change your picture, but you can change your bio.
Anyone can just go on your bio and change it.You can edit it and share it.
It's like a shared Google Doc low key.Wait, that's scary.I don't like that concept.
Yeah, that's why your teachers would always like don't use Wikipedia right because it's it's not it's not yeah because it's like oh my god yeah you learn something new yeah maybe we should stop talking about it but Daniella one of my favorite pieces of your lore is you on Sabato Gigante what the hell How do you know that?
They don't even know what they don't know what that is.No, it's all he done there. It's like it's like, oh, my God.Latin TV show on.Oh, my God.Univision.
Univision is what it's called. It's like this like show I used to watch with my grandma. And it's like a Spanish program.and I went on it, I think two or three times.I was like seven.

It's just like big Saturday.
Sabado is Saturday, so...What is Higante?Giant.Giant Saturday.Giant Saturday.I guess it would come out.
I'm not really sure.
Every Saturday.You did your research.
Oh, baby, I know.That's crazy.
I didn't know she did that. That's like one of the first things that I did, like, on TV as a kid. That's when it started.
Yeah.And you're so good on it.It's crazy.You're like five.And I'm like...
Yeah, I was on Queen Latifah on most talented kids of America These are deep cut.Oh, yeah that America's Got Talent and you just reunited with Queen Latifah, right?
I just did she's a queen That's so crazy, yeah, it's pretty crazy speaking of reuniting Laura House Michelle Obama these days Michelle Obama forever.I love her.She is the queen of the fucking century Period period just have to put that out there. But second she when we filmed that I remember I was like 12 and she was like hey if you ever need me just text and I was likewas like if you ever have a show like if you're ever doing doing something like just oh she told you this Yeah, please can you please come on tour like No, I'm forever I'm Michelle Stan like she she was also the sweetest she was like I She was, like, more beautiful. You know how she has such a beautiful aura?
Yeah, and she's brilliant.
Yeah, she's brilliant and, like, so epic. She was even more that in person.Like, she just, like, radiated beauty and intelligence.
I want to meet her.Yeah.
I mean, Michelle Obama has a podcast.
Can we go on a show?
Let's make it happen.
I feel like we have to make that happen.
We're playing through the universe now, like it's out there. It's out there.I do feel like the tone of it is more political, but you know, we can have a fun episode every once in a while.
Yeah, and we'll bring our gays.So you can come. You can come.Let's go!
Laura, don't play with me, girl.Don't play with me.This is my audition for the group. You know what I mean?Every group of girls needs a token gay.
You don't even need to audition. You're in.

It's okay, we'll make it work.
But I'm a great personality hiker.

Yeah, me with a wig.
No, they would never know, too. They wouldn't.I'm passing as five different races and cultures, for sure.Yes!
Perfect.Exactly.We'll see you back.

No, please.Like a gourmet feast of like...
We should do like a Thanksgiving and like every single platter from every...Like a Friendsgiving but like instead of like turkey and mashed potatoes.
You guys should cook it all for each other.
Wait, where are we going to be on Thanksgiving?
on tour we'll do it on the bus yeah we'll do it on the bus or like no we should we should make it a thing to have a nice little meal with each other Really?
Every time I have lumpia, she like eats it.I love that.Wait, what's lumpia again?
I know what this is.Lumpia is like egg roll.Oh, yes!
Yunshae, I have a question about Korean food.I've heard this take from Koreans and I want to know from the source material. Some of them have said that they think the food in K -Town is better than Korea.
Is that true?I don't think so.
That makes me feel good.I'm like, there's no way.
No, no.no.K -Town in L .A.has really, really good food. And there's a one restaurant that I realized she knows too.
We literally found out yesterday, the day before.
You gotta gatekeep it.
Gatekeep it.
I'm not saying keep it.Because you won't be able to go anywhere else.
True, true, true, true, true, true. And in that restaurant, they they don't only sell one menu like they sell All of the Korean food.Really?Yeah, so I can get anything from there. So I'm like, have you been there like in person? So good.

If you get mad at me for this stuff and not follow through, I'll cry.Oh my god.Does it feel like a piece of home?Like is cuisine a way you can feel connected to your culture back home?
Yes, of course Like in LA, I'm so glad that they have a good Korean food in LA.Yes, so I can connect to my culture here But I feel like I eat Korean food like almost every day.
Yeah, I would too.
It's really good. It's really good You know, it's also really beautiful.I think we learned that our cultures are actually all quite similar to each other It's like you see like the differences but also like the similarities and the spices that we use.Like me and Danny talk so much about how Latin and Indian culture have so much similarities. And like, we're all rich in culture, but then also there's like polarizing differences. And like Megan has Singaporean culture and like.
Singaporean, it's like Southeast Asian, very similar to Indian and then Filipino.Korean, like it's just we're all so much more connected than we think. But then we also see so much beauty like in our differences.
Yeah.
But we're like, we're the same. We're all one in this.
Yeah.
Yeah, that's awesome.
At least we all know to have our shoes off in the house.Yes.Oh, yeah. Now daddy knows.

I didn't grow up like that.

Get started freeSo you can't blame me either.
Yeah, I didn't grow up with that culture, but I've learned.Yeah, sorry.It's not my fault.But now.No.Yeah.
Now it's.
Yeah.Speaking of culture, Laura, you've been like very forward about the way you represent Indian culture. You wear the bindi, the om necklace. You and Rhea did matching henna at the Grammys.Like, can you tell me a bit about the sort of, like, pride and importance you feel to, like, do that in such a public manner?
Yeah.Oh, my God.It's my biggest purpose in life.Like, seriously, I think that that's why I was put on this earth.Like, I really feel that because I have said this many a time, but I grew up, like, desperate, desperate, desperate, desperate for that pop star.
Yeah.
And like for that girl that made me feel like my culture was my power, if that makes sense.I just grew up always feeling because I'm Indian, but I grew up in America. It's just it's a completely different experience.Like I can recognize I will never truly, truly, fully be able to represent the experience of like an Indian who grew up in India. But my culture is still my culture.I've grown up like so deeply, heavily with it.
And it's like shaped me as a person. It's my identity. And like, I grew up with so much complexity.around it because it felt like for what I wanted to do, I always wanted to be like the biggest pop star on the planet. It felt like for what I wanted, my culture would be a hindrance to that. And like, I would have to mute it in ways to be seen as what a typical pop star is.
But I think as I grew up, And just as I like came to my senses and also stopped listening to bullies and just like other people's opinions, I realized it is literally my superpower, like my culture and the beauty of it and the richness of it is like something that people have stolen from us, like in Western music, like people have taken from Indian culture so much and not given the credit where it's due.
Yeah.
And also like the Indian scale, the music, the food, the jewelry, the grandeur of like Bollywood, our outfits, like every little detail of Indian culture has been like extorted and like used in Western media. And I was like, someone Indian should be like representing that and using that. And like, because it's mine. You know what I mean? It's like something that I want.I also want like brown girls that were like me to see that and be like, I want to wear a bindi too.
Like, I want to go out to prom and wear my linga or wear a sari to prom.Like, because that's hot and that's beautiful.
It's so beautiful.
That is fierce.Like, it's not like a...I just think that there's so much stigma also around Indian people. And like, we've always been taught to, like, be in a box.I guess. And like, we're so uncool and all of that, like there's just so much stigma around that, but that couldn't be further from the truth.
Could not be further from the truth.
So like, I think it's just my purpose in life to like use that and put us on the map across the world and like use it as a beautiful part of music, like in the right way, in a tasteful way that like, celebrates my people and lifts them up.There's nothing I'm more passionate about. That's why I'm here.Seriously.
And you are. You're achieving that.Thank you.Thanks.It's so beautiful to see.Thank you so much.
And this is so funny. My psychiatrist, my psychiatrist, the woman who's prescribing me medication and hearing about my trauma, is obsessed with cat's eye.And one time told me this out the cut.She doesn't even know what I do for work.I haven't really told her.So it's like, And then she's Indian.
