We were just talking about how it's abysmal what Michael Carrick has been delivered.We were also talking about this obsession with not replacing Casimiro with experience.And we were also talking about trying to find a positive every day around United because it's so negative.and then we go and get a massive out of the blue David Ornstein bomber that United are in talks with Uri Tillermans and I go...Call me Batman, because you know what?If there's positivity, I will jump right to the front of the queue.

The negativity around this football club is because we are fed bullshit by the club.This deal, to me, would get me very, very excited.I don't care the fact that he's 29.You know, in fact, I love the fact that he's 29, because it means we're abandoning our own stupid parameters about not buying people over 26.We were talking about Bruno Guimaraes and how I think he'd be perfect for Man United.I feel that Uri Tillemans is in the same category.

I mean, I really do.And look, look, let's give credit to David Ornstein for obviously chucking this out there.

I mean, a lot of people are saying fair play to me for tweeting it last night.That's just a very good source.

That's just a brilliant source.And we'll talk about that in a minute.But in relation to what David Ornstein is saying, because that's what we're reacting to.This is Man United are in advanced talks to sign Uri Tillemans from Aston Villa.

All parties in contact as Man United try to finalise the 29 -year -old midfielder who is keen on the move.Edison deal is off for now.Man United may look to revisit this later in the summer.

I mean, look, I don't want to revisit Edison.I don't think Tilleman, Santos, Edison and Mainu is as good as it could be.But Uri Tillemans to Manchester United.in my opinion, changes the whole summer.Yeah, it's desperate.It's not what we were looking at.

We wanted Anderson.We wanted Mateus Fernandes.We wanted Chiomini.We wanted Tonali.And Tillemans is not better than any of those, realistically.Maybe you could argue Anderson, but Anderson's 23.

Tonali's better than Tillemans.Chiomini's better than Tillemans.I'd argue maybe Bruno Guimaraes is slightly, but look, the desperation panic angle, I understand it, but you've also got to make the best of a bad situation.And what excites me about this is the fact that he is 29 and the fact that he is experienced.He's been brilliant.I mean, maybe it's my locality.

I live in the Midlands in the UK, which is my closest Premier League club is probably Coventry now, but it used to be Villa.

I know a lot of Villa fans.I do watch Villa a lot.

And I think it's a really exciting signing because I think he's a very, very good player who could come into the team and give us a little bit of experience and composure to you're going to get back into the Champions League.I genuinely think there is jeopardy on the United being in the top five next season.With the way the midfield is shaping up, and I think with menu and Santos, you bring Tillman's in.I think experience is so important.And look, people are saying, What are you getting excited about this for bro?Um, I am genuinely getting excited about this because I see a massive lack of experience in the midfield, and yeah, Bruno's experienced, and we have got experienced centre -backs, whether it be De Ligt, Martinez or Maguire, but we've got nothing in the midfield to bridge that experience gap, and someone like Yuri Tillemans would give us some experience.

Now, I'm not jumping and shouting around like I would do if we were signing Tonali, and I'm sure a lot of other clubs will like that,us for doing this deal.But it's the experience angle that does it for me.And he's a good player.So look, I do like the signing.

And I do like the fact that it's not Edison at the moment.And I do like the fact that it's Shiri Tillemans.And there is a lot of people in the chat saying that apparently he's got a release clause of 35 million pounds.according to Ben Jacobs.I was going to say, I don't know the price.I mean, I'll be clear.

I didn't realise he was 29.I did before we went live.I didn't realise he was 29.I thought he was about 26 for some reason.You know, he's obviously got a good skincare regime and drinks plenty of water.I mean, I thought he was about 26.

Doesn't bother me that he's 29.

But I think if he's the Edison replacement at £35 million, I think that's good.And people will say, well, he's 29, but you'd get three or four years out of him.And also, what's the point in having a 21 -year -old Mainu and a 22 -year -old Santos and buying another 21 -year -old?Like Tillemans naturally in three years time is probably working towards the end of his career as Santos and Mainu enter their prime.So you have to have a balance.Anybody who's moaning about being 29, If you've got four midfielders, it's about the balance on the scales, isn't it?

You want to balance the scales.So, yeah, two kids and an experienced player brings that balance back.The next midfielder for me should still be Kone, who's 25, and then you've got a perfect balance of age for me.You've got two lads in their early 20s, you've got a 29 -year -old, you've got a mid -20s player, and the progression would be you move up like that, Tillemans drops off and another one comes back on.So, I don't know.I like it.

I like the deal.Oh, I want to be very, very clear.This is not.me being excited in March, April and May.No, I'd be like, what the fuck?But in July, the middle of July, where this window is pathetic and we've messed up all over the place, you've got a deal with the middle of July and go, what's the best we can get right now?

This is the best we can get right now.I'm not bloody cheering Berrada and Ineos and Wilcox and saying, well done.I'm saying in this situation, you are trying to get us out of it, but you put us in this situation in the first place.So no, I'm not cheering and screaming and going, this is an amazing.I'm pretty sure there'll be Liverpool and Arsenal fans laughing at us going, look at that.You know, look at what they're doing.

But we have to do something to try and get ourselves out of this mess.

And I think a player like that does help because he brings experience to the team.Yeah.So look, Tilleman's Manchester United looks like it's advancing very, very much so because David Ornstein has put it out there that we're in advanced talks with it.So it could get very, very interesting for Manchester United over the next couple of weeks.over the next few hours, certainly, because that has broken out from David Ornstein and about £35 million, apparently.Let me just have a quick look.

Have a quick look.How did you know about it?Well, look, I put a tweet out last night saying, what is the release clause for Uri Tillemans?Because and you can check it on my Twitter.And I'm not taking credit for it.We've got a very good source who was helping us around Ciumini and Kone.

And they basically said to me last night, look, you can't put it out there bluntly on the 8 o 'clock show.And I don't think I mentioned it on the 8 o 'clock show, but United's Tillermans might be one to watch.So I said, well, can I put the tweets out?What's his release clause?Because that could mean anything and they were okay about it.So it's credit to David Ornstein.

It wasn't him who told me, but yeah, I knew it about seven o 'clock last night that United might make a move on Tillemans.And that's why I put out the tweet.What's the release clause on Uri Tillemans?So, but I didn't expect it to be advanced talks with Uri Tillemans.I expected it to be, At some point, United are interested in Uri Tillemans.So it was obviously more advanced than even I thought last night.

But yeah, very, very good information.And I've just had a Villa mate message me.Let's see.Oh, a crying emoji.He says, no way are you getting Tillemans.And then there are six crying emojis from a Villa fan.

And he's typing again now.Let's see.I said, he's a good player, question mark.And he says, he's been great for us.Yeah.Yeah, let me see.

I'd be very happy.

Of course they've just bought Manzambi, so Villa always have to sell though.

And I'm sure most of you know this, Villa always have to sell.It's a ridiculous situation where Emery and Villa do a great job every year, but they have to sell one of their good players every year.Romano says Tillemans is expected to join Man United.Man United in advance talks.Ben Jacobs, advance talks to sign Aston Villa midfielder Yuri Tillemans.Tillerman's Villa contract contains a 35 million release clause.

And while some people in the chat seem to be thinking this is embarrassing or underwhelmed, Personally, I think this is a good signing.I wasn't massively excited about Santos because he's a kid who's got lots of potential, who's basically sat on Chelsea's bench and will need developing.Santos might be a better signing than Tillemans to some of you, but Tillemans to me is a way better signing than Santos because Santos' potential that we're going to have to develop, whereas Tillemans, this is what I was talking about last week about Santos, Tillemans comes straight into the team.So he goes straight into the team.He starts first game of the season.You're not looking at him thinking, well, we've got to be patient.

You're not looking at him going in two years, he'll be better than he is now.I look at Tillemans and go, he delivers today right now.

That's what Tillemans does.So.I like this signing and he's experienced.We do need experience.I know I'm aware of the here we go now.I think we're all aware of the here we go now.

Just people in the chat going, it's here we go.It's here we go.I know if you look at the title of the show, Tilleman signs for United.I've changed it.So it's not talks.It's here we go.

here we go, Tillemans, Tillemans signs for Man United, so we've got that.Villa got in for free, I think they got him for free from Leicester.

We looked at him when he was at Leicester, you know, we looked at Tillemans when he was at Leicester, but he had a bad season, his final season, and you know, we were looking at him about a year before.And he had a bad season and it went quiet.

And then Villa took him and he sort of rediscovered himself.

So we're going to pay £35 million for him.Bruno Guimaraes probably is better, but we're not getting Bruno Guimaraes.He's going to Arsenal.Tonali is better, but he's signed for Spurs.Anderson is better, but he's gone to Man City.Chiomini is better, but he's staying at Real Madrid.

This to me, if you look at that shelf, you know, the marquee signing, Experience was key and Tielemans gives us that experience.

He's a good player.He's a good player.Like, he's a very good player for Villa.World Cup, whatever, but he did play well for Belgium in the World Cup.Very, very good player.Gives us experience.

Look, does it make the world of football shake and shiver?Probably not.Does it improve our midfield?Yes.Is he experienced?Yes.

So look, You lot are starting to make me worry about this deal now, but I think it's a good signing for the price.I think it's brilliant that we've broken our own parameter of signing an over 26 -year -old.Absolutely brilliant.It shows we can do that, and I think that's a positive as well.Casimiro is ridiculously experienced.We've brought another player in that's experienced.

Obviously not as experienced as Casimiro, but he is experienced.The price is good.It's a second midfielder.I think it works well with Santos now that you've got an inexperienced player and an experienced player.So I like it.I do like it.

And if the third midfielder could be somebody like Alex Scott, then that to me would make a reasonably good midfield for Man United with Santos, Tillemans and Alex Scott.

But, There's still a lot of work to do there, but I like it.I like it.Let me get into some of your comments.77 % of you are happy with this deal.Is he physically weak, Mark?Look, I can't sit here and say that he's going to be a success.

What I'm saying is he isn't 22.He isn't a bench player.He's one of Villa's best players, and he is a very experienced player.What does it do for the Kone deal?Well, I haven't checked my phone at all.I don't know.

I don't know whether it was Tillemans or Kone and then we'll move on to somebody else.

I would hope, and it's a good question, I would hope that Tillemans is the Edison replacement.I would hope that Santos is Tier 3 and Tillemans is Tier 2 and we're still going to buy Tier 1.That's what I would hope.And it sort of works.It could be that Tillemans is tier three and Santos is tier two, it doesn't really matter.As long as they're three and two and there's a number one to come, I think that's okay.

I mean, there's people in the chat saying Man United's a retirement home.I do sometimes despair at the inability to make this fan base happy.I'm somebody that's very critical of this football club and get caught negative a lot.But if there's something we do that I think's right, I will say that's good.And that's the way I think we should be, you know, there are certain people out there like Rio and stuff like that who just you know they'll smashand say it's perfume.

There's people like myself and many of you who will go, that's shit, but that's good.And there's people who go, that's shit, that's shit, that's shit, that's shit.I think for Man United to progress, we do need a fan base that calls the shit out, but also says, actually, I don't mind that, that's good.

You know, I could easily, if I was exclusively negative, be like some of you lot and go, oh, that's shit, it's 29, it's cheap, it's rubbish.

Villa have got the better deal.But I genuinely believe it's a good deal.I do.I think it's a good deal for Manchester United.And I think that he's a good player and I think he's experienced and I think he's better than what we've got.And I think that when you are in that quest to finish in the top five again, He's a player that's got Champions League experience.

He's an international and he's experienced in finishing in the top five.So I think it's a good signing for Man United and it's a cheap signing.And I guarantee his wage won't be 200k a week either.So it ticks all their boxes and it ticks my boxes as well.So I quite like it.

And obviously 77 % of you like it as well.So I'm not against it.I'm not against it at all.It's a release clause that a lot of people didn't even know he had a release clause.Tillemans is due to have his medical tomorrow.The Villa didn't want to sell him.

They offered him a new deal, but little choice due to the Man United awareness of the release clause.And yeah, look, I think I would agree with everybody.As long as there's now going to be a marquee signing, we can get out of this window with, you know, weirdly.

And I did say this in April, you know, in a way we were all building these.midfields, weren't we?Anderson, Mateus Fernandes, Jael Gomez, or Ciuomini, Alex Scott and Tyler Adams.We're all building these midfields and nobody would have built a midfield of Tillemans and Santos and whoever else comes in.And obviously, you know, I'm not going to censor this.We are operating down the list.

You know, Tillemans will be down the list and Santos would be down the list.But depending on who the third player is, It wouldn't be the worst construction to have Santos, Tillemans and Meecha.It wouldn't be the worst construction to have Santos, Tillemans and Alex Scott.It wouldn't.Wouldn't be the best, but it wouldn't be the worst.

So I do think who we go and get next is very, very important.And I would like to see us go and get a homegrown player.I would like to see us go and get an Adam Wharton or an Alex Scott.I would.But where we go next, we'll have to wait and see.

But I think Tillermans does elevate.And for me, it's all about the balance.It's all about the balance.

You know, a 29 -year -old, a 22 -year -old with Mainu and then, you know, maybe a 25 -year -old is perfect balance for me.So I'm happy with the Tillemans deal.I'm shocked.I'm not shocked as many of you because I was told yesterday that keep an eye on Tillemans.I didn't expect it to happen this quick, though.I thought, hmm, interesting.
