Today we LEAVE the US and Arrive IN CANADA! | | Road Trip to Canada Days 5-6 (Montana to BC)

Good morning from Butte, Montana.It is still raining here.It is still super cold.We're about to get a breakfast.It's literally 38 degrees.Yes, and it's June 29th.

Yeah.Yeah.So that had a bit of an eventful night with the dogs, but I'm going to tell you about that a little later because we're hungry and we're going to breakfast.And today we are driving through Idaho and we're driving into Washington.And that's our last U .S.

state before we get on the ferry tomorrow.So that's very exciting.We're going to have breakfast.I'll tell you the dog story in a minute.All right, I can finally talk to you again.I know it's only been seconds for you, but it's been hours for me. I was just driving.

We got to Superior, Montana, and we're about to eat some lunch at the Family's Choice Riverside Soups and Sands, and it looks absolutely amazing.It's basically like a subway, But it's more like home, you know, it's a small business.So we're very, very excited to get some food here.It has excellent reviews.And we already took the dogs out for a walk, so they're good.And then the next stop is gonna be a park.

But I wanted to tell you what happened last night with the dogs.So about one o 'clock, Haley woke me up.The little dog woke me up because she needed water, which is fine, absolutely.Got up, got her some water, got her back in bed.We were good.Then about 3 .30, four o 'clock, I heard Sam, my bigger dog, I'm just guzzling water like drinking a lot of water.

I was like dude's thirsty because I had left the water bowl on the ground, right?Haley sleeps in bed with me.That's why she couldn't get to the water So Sam's guzzling guzzling guzzling guzzling drank so much water.I was like, oh my gosh, what's going on?I'm no joke two minutes later.The man just throws up all the water on the floor.

I was like, oh gosh I don't know if it was the altitude or if he just drank the water too fast or what threw up everywhere Thankfully the floor was like a linoleum wallfake wood so it was super easy to clean up but i was like 3 30 in the morning cleaning up like a big puddle of sick, which was not fun.Thankfully, his food had mostly digested, so that was good.But still, I was like, okay, this is not fun.But surprisingly, that was one of the best nights sleep that I've got because I got over six hours of sleep, even with getting up with the dogs.I was only up total, like maybe 30 minutes.

I have my whoop tracker, so it tells me how long I slept.My little fitness tracker thing tells me how long I slept.So yeah.So that was kind of an adventure last night, but it's fine.I'm feeling good.And Phoenix is inside getting our food and then we're headed out.

It's been raining its face off this whole trip so far on this first leg, but I think we're done through the majority rain.It might rain a little bit during Phoenix's first leg.Next up, we are headed to, get on my spreadsheet.We are headed to Coeur d 'Alene in Montana is next.Hold on, and that's our next stop.We're going to Tubbs Hill Nature Park to walk the dogs and walk around a little bit.

And then we're stopping at Moses Lake in Washington.And then we'll be at our hotel in Snoqualmie.And then we just have tomorrow, we are getting on the ferry.We have to get to the port around 11 a .m.So we're supposed to be leaving at 7 a .

m.and we should get there around 11.And then we'll board the ferry at 12 .45 we'll board the ferry and we should be in Victoria by 2 .15 tomorrow which is so so exciting well we're gonna be in Victoria tomorrow like we're doing it we're doing this

thing we're doing back there dogs.

There's Sam and then Haley is sleeping She's back there passed out.

Yeah, it's my turn now So look how pretty it we're taking a nice like long 20 to 30 minute break They they like trees like this these kinds of trees whatever reason I think they smell good But yeah, we switched time zones.

Barking at the geese.Hey, ma 'am, those geese are not bothering you.We switched time zones.We're finally in Pacific time zone, which we made it to Pacific.And we will be in Washington state soon.We've got about nine total hours of driving left before we're at the port.

So, Washington.

This is a different lake.I've spaced out on the name of it, but the town is called Moses Lake.Isn't it beautiful?The dogs are yanking me because they are just ready to go for a walk.They are ready.They're ready to go.

Phoenix is going to go find the facilities and we are taking a walk by this beautiful lake.We've almost made it.We are so close.Next stop is Topalmi where we're going to be sleeping for tonight and then the next stop after that is Port Angeles.

My child is spinning.

because they've been spinning like this since they were barely able to walk.

Our feet know exactly when to touch the ground.Oh my god.

And you're 18, still rolling around and spinning.

I can do it faster.

It's not fast enough for you.The hotel that we just stayed in in Washington, and it's just, it's a beautiful hotel, nice people, worked out great.Today is going to Canada Day.We are about to go get on the ferry.We've got about two and a half hour drive.Thanks to you all, we switched what port we were going to go to.

We're going to Port Angeles instead.of the other one that's further north.And thank you for that because you just saved us like hours of time.And the only thing is, is I get motion sickness.So I have to wear, I haven't put it on.That just reminded me I have to put on my motion sickness patch because I heard that the seas are a little bit more rough on that route and I do not want to get sick.

So I'm actually going to put that on now.Yeah, we're headed there.to the ferry to go to victoria to live in canada today is the day y 'all today is the day stopped on the highway at goat coffee if you're ever headed to port angeles it's literally right off the highway at like in the parking lot of a um like a car dealership this cute little sticker she gave us she was so nice the coffee's so nice the coffee's so good so good and this is what's out the window having a great morning guys yes we are okay so we made it to the ferry and john made me this fabulous folder with pockets with all of the stuff in it and of course i could not find the export documents for the car i found with the import documents i could find the export ones for the u .s look if i was the canada stuff and then i got emotional i'm like oh my gosh so freaking embarrassingthink we've taken six days to get here and I'm just tired haven't been sleeping well which is like it's like too much information but she was super nice she's like so were you like in the US for work and I was like no I've lived there my whole life you know we just recently became citizens and we're moving to Victoria she's like oh she's like you'll be back and I'm like okay of course we will of course we're gonna be back so never know how that's gonna go so you know going to a place that says department of homeland security and it's like i don't know i'm like so scared of department of homeland security now it's kind of wild but yeah but it went well car is exported and now i just have all the documents for canada so i've got the import for the car we've got the dog's records for their to make sure they know that they're vaccinated and we have our goods to follow for all of our stuff that's coming on the trucks to vancouver because that's gonna be a whole nother thing because all of our stuff got exported um export all of our stuff is on trucks and it's going to be in Vancouver and then I have to go to Vancouver and sign for the documents and then I either have to put it on a moving truck myself or I have to hire someone to move it over to Victoria to go on that ferry.So that's going to be a whole other thing on another day.

Not today.That's not today.But we made it.We're here.

It was good at the, at the diner.And now we went to Chocolate Favorites, which was closed last time we were here.And I got a hazelnut chocolatey thing.And what'd you get?I got s'mores.I also got nails.

Yes.And you bought nails.They're very cute.Yes They're like the press on kind but there are like artists locally artists made so that's very exciting So we're gonna eat these now.We got it.Let's taste that I need to like eat my marshmallow off first.

Nevermind We're casually walking down the street and Phoenix sneezed and then what happened?And a random man said bless you Welcome to Canada.

End of first day in Victoria.We made it.We made it gang.

That's okay.The dogs are like sleeping.It's like, what is it time?Is it 9?9 .04.9 .04.

I could go to sleep right now.

It's so bright outside though.

But it's still bright as hell out.

It's not gonna be dark until like 10 p .

m.It's bright as hell out and I still need to take the dogs out one more time and we're staying at the Magnolia which is like blocks away from grass.We have to walk to the Empress, which is like a couple blocks away, to get to grass so that they can pee.And then I feel bad because the grass at the Empress is really beautiful.

I don't want them to - I feel bad having them pee on like, it's a fancy hotel.It feels wrong.

You're gonna kill their grass.I'm gonna kill their grass.But what else am I supposed to do?

They have to have grass.I don't know.

They don't have like, there's nowhere else to go.And it's only for tonight.It's only a little bit.I still feel bad though.And my dogs are so poorly behaved compared to Canadian dogs.We need to like get training for them, but they're old.

Like Sam's like 12, Haley's like seven.Sam's doing better.Haley is a hot mess.She's so embarrassing.It's embarrassing me. I'm a terrible pet parent because my pets haven't had to be socialized because they just don't have that.We had a big, huge, giant backyard and we didn't need to take them out.

Why does it look like I have a lump on my head?What is happening?When you shave my head, I look like a Klingon.So tomorrow will be the last day of this vlog because we'll be moving into our house.And that'll be the last one.We're gonna pick up the boys from the airport at about 11.

And then we're going to our house.

Good morning.Happy Canada Day.Happy move -in day.We went to go to a coffee shop called Blends, but they're closed because it's Canada Day.So we're at a Starbucks, which I'm not happy about.I would much rather ate some cute little niche Canadian place, but that place was closed.

So we're at a Starbucks and we're getting the maple pancakes that we've been craving since we left.We're so excited.We're leaving here at the hotel about 8 .30 to go meet our landlord at 9 and then we are gonna unpack and go get the boys at the airport.We're picking them up at 11 .15, so

almost back together.

So excited.

Hey guys.All right.What are we doing, baby?We're driving to pick the boys and the cats up.Yeah.She's driving.

I'm done driving for a while.I'm tired of driving.We're only 30 minutes, like 35 minutes from the airport, which is pretty cool.

It's fabulous.

We're struggling to figure out what speed we're supposed to be going on the roads because everything's in kilometers and we don't really know.know that off the top of our heads, but the car is converting it to miles per hour, like automatically.So that's pretty lit.We're excited to have the family back together.

What do you think of the house so far?

The house is actually really cute.Why is there a cat butt on the light pole?You know what?Sure.There's also a neighborhood cat.Did you tell them about the neighborhood cat yet?

No, his name is Max and he's adorable.

He's so cute.And he loves you.He was like rubbing all up on your leg.He was rubbing on my leg.He's our neighbor's cat.He's our neighbor's cat.

And our neighborhood is super cute.So yes, we're on the way.to get the boys and the cats.And we're very excited.And what do you think of the house so far?The house is really cute.

The bedrooms are really cute.I have a cute window.I have a cute view.The kitchen is super pretty.The furniture is cute.Everything's really cute.

I'm happy with it.I'm very happy.Especially since we've never seen it before.So this could have gone terribly.It could have gone terribly because we've literally never seen it before today.I love it.

And they asked me, they said, oh, is that your school's mascot?And I said, oh, it's Saskatchewan.And they said, oh, Saskatchewan.And I said, yes.So they call hoodies bunny hugs.She said, oh, so I just explained to a Canadian something Canadian.

Well, there's basically mansplaining, which is American -splaining.Right, exactly.Felt really weird and awkward, like I'm not supposed to be doing.Like, I just felt really weird, like maybe I have it wrong, like maybe...It's all hot.What do we got?

Yup, we're all matching.

That's right.I forgot to mention, my son is not here because he is just zonked.from the trip.He is so tired.We tried to get him to come out but we weren't gonna like make him leave.It's one of those things where I didn't want to force him to do something because he's genuinely tired and he would just be so miserable and so unhappy and it just we don't want him to be miserable and unhappy so we did not make him come but so that's why it's just the three of us so we're letting him just be.
