So Donald Trump has called the cavalry on his litigation case against the BBC.Last week, the US Department of Justice wrote to the court hearing the case in Florida to tell them, are we thinking of getting involved?Now, why?Well, Trump never expected the case to get this far.The way the process works in America, especially, is it is often cheaper to lose litigation than to win.Trump thought that the BBC would do what all the other media outlets he's bullied would do and settle.

The BBC have asked for a range of documents from Trump in order to defend themselves.Trump has refused to hand them over and so has now ordered the Department of Justice to get involved to stop the court forcing him to hand them over.Now I'm not a legal expert and I've only seen one legal expert commentary on this latest development and unfortunately they did not explain what they thought the tactic behind this move was but sounds to me like the main objective here is to block the BBC's access to these documents.
