TRUMP CAVES to Canada!? Greer is Giddy, Carney is Thrilled About US-Canada Trade Deal Progress

Welcome to Bill Kelly's Podcast, Critical Discussion in Critical Times.This is your host, Bill.It's a pleasure to have you join us, especially for this episode.We welcome you from the heart of Kota Oens, where the Prime Minister and many people are busy today, completing the final decision according to one party on health, because our Prime Minister has not yet used the term agreement.He hasn't said that this is ready to be implemented.Donald Trump has praised it by saying, you know, hard workers are benefited by good production.

All the disturbances that have been accused of Canada to us are gone.We started this discussion with the determination of the best overall trade.We are now moving forward towards our future agreement.So, of course, it's not as extravagant as what Trump said.This raises some questions that I think we need to discuss here.And first of all, as we often talk about in this podcast before, I don't believe anything that Donald Trump even wrote on the paper and of course you can't even believe his words.

However, one of the reasons, and perhaps the main reason, is that it should be remembered that Trump ignored it and still imposed tariffs on steel, aluminum, and wood, even though the Kusma Agreement stated that it would not happen.So, once again, do you believe his words?So, I understand what the Prime Minister said.We already have the best determination as a whole.That's right.And now we move on to the next message, an agreement that strengthens Canada's advantages.

So, in other words, they want to make it stronger, and I can understand that.We've just mentioned leather, aluminum, wood, and automotive industry.Those are the areas that become the focus of the inflationary tariff that has been applied.

And we know that it won't happen.In the past, the tariff was at 50%.Has it been reduced?And how big is the reduction?These are all things that I think we need to find out before we can assess how good our results are in this situation.We hear that there will be a reduction, but maybe there will be a quota system.

That's what we can accept.So let's look at the numbers.We haven't got it yet.Clearly, the Prime Minister has indicated that there are still negotiations that need to be done on several things.We know that this afternoon he held a conference call with the Prime Ministers of the participating countries to tell them what happened.So far, there haven't been many reactions from them.

Do they agree or not with the results?He hasn't yet, when we make seniors now, meet with his advisory team, a number of professionals and ex -politicians who have expertise in Canadian -US relations.Ralph Goodall, of course, ex -minister of finance and just recently, as Canada's ambassador to the UK, commented on CBC Sore earlier, the advice is quite good, so far it looks quite good.However, we need to look at the details further before we can support him and say, yes, this is the best agreement for Canada.So, I always admire this from the Prime Minister.He wants to get all the facts first.

And that's how he works, and that's also when he serves as Prime Minister.That's the criteria for him.Ali Ali just wanders around and says, hey, we got what we want here.

We need to find out what really happened.We understand that the management of the milk industry in this country has become a nuisance.And James Greer, the US Ambassador in front of his office with Dominique LeBlanc this afternoon said, Canada has got something and we eliminate all the nuisances that bother us.But what is it?Why is it gone?And how big is it?

What about the automotive industry?What about the tariffs?

What about the quotas?Trump always said he wanted to move all the automotive industry in North America back to the United States.Obviously, that's not the best interest for Canada.So what happened with that?So there's still a lot to be done here.Another element, and this is something that makes me worried when watching the coverage this afternoon, and we still haven't got an answer for sure, is this a pure agreement between Canada and the United States?

And if it's true, because it's not clear yet,is true, because Mexico is not involved in this discussion, what is the impact on Kuzma Banah?Because that is an agreement that wants to be renewed by Canada, Mexico, and the United States.Yes, maybe not too much for the United States.Yes, maybe not too much for the United States.

I don't know how this will happen because we have heard from Greer in a previous statement that Canada has agreed that they do not want to do it that way.So what's the status there?Look, this is just a leak.We are not at all opposed to that.However, we need an explanation about what will happen here.Instead of just saying, hey, this is the best we can get, maybe there will be more good news later.

Maybe there will be further negotiations.And another element that follows me in that question is the statement made by Greer that he has to go and hand over those documents to Congress.Oh, is that a document?Is that a trade agreement?Or is this a series of trade agreements that will be discussed in the near future?all the details that may sound like a joke, but in my opinion, it is very helpful to understand the position of the relationship between the two countries at the moment.

Another element of this, which I also want to see, and again, I don't hear many people talking about it this afternoon, is that we are talking about protection in trade agreements.And you know, if you exceed the quota, there is a penalty fee.That's not a strange thing in an agreement like this.But what about protection if someone ignores it and does Trump -like actions to use a more accurate term and make a tariff where the tariff should not be done at all, such as lead and aluminum?How about that?Do you know what to do and decide to keep doing it?

You know.This is one of the things they mean when they talk about eliminating sources of education.That is one of the reasons.And Prime Minister Karni, in my opinion, has been very clear about that for how long?Last week, you know that we will not sign the agreement unless we feel that first of all, it is for the best interest of Canada, both of us can trust them.And I will be happy to see any information that they provide.

to us in the next few days that shows that we can trust them more than we have done for three or four months in particular.I don't, we haven't got there yet, unless maybe they have information that they haven't released.So there's a lot going on here right now.And of course, let's talk about the fact that the Congress has to discuss this and they will hold a vote.The parliament will be re -elected in a few days and they will also discuss this.So this is not the end of the negotiation or the end of the discussion about the trade agreement.
