Trump Drops Pearl Harbor Joke to Japanese Prime Minister

Trump just made a Pearl Harbor joke to Japan's Prime Minister, to her face, in the Oval Office, as a way to defend his Iran war. A Japanese reporter asked why the US didn't warn allies like Japan before attacking Iran, with Trump saying that he wanted it to be a surprise

and then adding,

Who knows better about surprise than Japan? Hey, why didn't you tell me about Pearl Harbor?

You can literally see the Prime Minister's face just freeze, just smiling the whole meeting and that smile died on TV. You know, I know there are a lot of Americans that they joke about tragedies all the time. There are 9-11 jokes that are basically their own comedy genre. But in Japan, World War II is not this thing that's just kind of been cast aside.

It literally still dictates how their government operates, what kind of military they're allowed to have and how their neighbors treat them 80 years later. Japan's prime minister was there because Trump needs Japan's help with the straight-over moves. But also I guess we'd rather have Trump bombing jokes rather than bombing more schools. So yeah, ideally, neither. So yeah, ideally, neither.
