Trump issues expletive-laden threat against Iran after surprise strikes on bases | ABC NEWS

Over the weekend, Donald Trump paused the daily strikes from the U .S.against Iran, attacks which had been happening for 13 consecutive days.There was a sense perhaps he was trying to give Iran time to return to the negotiating table and sort out a lasting deal to end the war.But there were also reports circulating in the U .S.

media that he'd been warned stocks of interceptor missiles, which are vital in protecting U .S.bases and personnel across the Middle East, were stretched pretty thin.But now he's threatening to return to attacking Iran.

Telling Fox News he's going to quote, beat out of Iran and that he'd be hitting them hard, they're going to get a beating.Iran had largely stopped attacks after the US halted fire across the region.

But there was some Iranian backed militia in Iraq which launched attacks on the US and Saudi bases in the area.What are being described as surprise attacks.U .S.Central Command says those attacks weren't successful, and in response, the Americans and the Saudis struck the sites belonging to the Popular Mobilization Forces in Iraq.At least 20 of the militant group members were killed, 32 injured, and there are now reports saying at least six Iranian military advisors were also killed.

Since those attacks, some of the Iraqi militia have issued an ultimatum to the Iraqi government, saying a response to the U .S.and Saudi attacks is inevitable, and they've given the government a week to prove it can protect the country.This all follows the meeting between Donald Trump and Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Washington yesterday, the first face -to -face meeting between the pair since they started the war against Iran in late February.And despite their tense recent exchanges, Mr. Netanyahu described it as one of the best meetings they've had.The Prime Minister also sitting down with the U .
