Trump Says He Could Cancel Elections

Trump openly talked about cancelling American elections if there was a war today. And while some will say that he's just joking around, it comes after he said this morning that he's gonna lead a movement to get rid of mail-in ballots and voting machines. Trump also saying that he'll sign an executive order to get rid of mail-in voting and voting machines. With him then also sharing a factually wrong legal opinion saying, quote, "'Remember, the states are merely an agent of the federal government in counting and tabulating the votes. They must do what the federal government tells them. But that is Trump has no authority whatsoever to decide how states conduct their

election. The power is exclusively granted to states in the Constitution. Now Congress can make some rules regarding elections but states get to choose the time, place, and manner. Right, and earlier this year Trump signed an executive order that disallowed the counting of mail-in ballots received after Election Day and courts have struck this down across the country because again, he just doesn't have the authority. But notably, you had all this as it appeared that Trump said that he was inspired to make these toothless proclamations by election integrity expert Vladimir Putin, who told him that the 2020 election, which he lost by 8 million votes, was rigged.
