So are the inhabitants of Moscow getting a taste of the Ukraine war?Well, this was a Ukrainian drone circling over the Russian capital, and Kiev has carried out its largest drone attack on Russia in more than a year.Hundreds of unmanned aerial vehicles, UAVs, attacked regions across the country. That included 180 drones that targeted Moscow itself, the most we've ever seen. Now, Moscow is ringed by a whole load of air defence systems, as you'd expect, including S -400s and Pantsirs, which carry a combination of guns and missiles. But many of these Ukrainian drones seem to have got through.

And that's significant because it tells us two things.First, Ukraine now has the industrial heft to launch mass -coordinated drone swarms deep inside Russia, in this case 250 miles from the border. And secondly, even what you might think would be Russia's most heavily defended airspace, well that's now increasingly porous.Ukraine sent at least 600 drones into Russia, including a jet -powered UAV called the RS -1 Bars. But this isn't just about scale, it's also about capability.Ukraine has just released Footage of what it says is a drone firing unguided rockets at Russian targets in Crimea.

Now, these are munitions that are usually used on attack helicopters. So this is effectively turning cheap FPV drones into gunships.

At the same time, Ukraine is also pushing its own drone innovation in terms of defenses. This is something called Trident, a laser weapon built in Ukraine, which it's claimed can take down drones, helicopters, even missiles from three miles away. And there's another system called Sunray, which is in development, which can also burn through a drone's body and its electronics. Now, the American Navy has a system called Helios that it's used against Iranian drones in the Gulf. The Israelis have Iron Beam and the Royal Navy here has a directed missile system.

called Dragonfire, which is going to be fitted to the Type 45 destroyers. But that cost 300 million pounds.

The Ukrainians say their system is relatively cheap, and at the speed of innovation we're seeing, it's probably not going to be long before it's used in anger somewhere inside Ukraine. So put all of this together, and what you're seeing is a battlefield being reshaped in real time.
