United TRANSFER Panic! HUGE Ferndandes BID incoming! Man Utd Transfer News

Hello, everybody.Welcome to the United Stands.I'm Mark Goldbridge.This is your latest Manchester United transfer news, and it's two big stories coming in this morning.One involving an incredibly bad injury for Manuel Agate.What does that mean for Man Utd's transfer plans?

Remember, the third midfielder has always been dependent on Agate leaving.This injury could be months in the recovery.And also, big updates coming in on Mateus Fernandes this morning from multiple outlets, including for Brit Siromano.Basically, West Ham will sell to the club that offers the best price.It's that simple.Well, what we can definitely, definitely take from these two big stories this morning, and I'll analyse as well, is that Manchester United's calmness and perception of relaxation will not be the case this morning.

There'll be emergency meetings, there will be strategies, there will be plans that Man Utd have put in place about, we'll only buy a third midfielder when we get rid of Agaté.We won't pay these wages.We won't pay those transfer fees.they're going to be scrambling around over the next 48 hours, desperately trying to salvage a transfer window that they've been left short on because they tried to plan it out and you've got to be adaptable.And if they're not quick, they're going to be in big, big trouble.The feeling is Man United may well break their own rules to get Mateus Fernandes.

They may well increase the wage to match Spurs and the transfer fee.We could be talking 80 million pounds and 200 grand a week.That's the stuff that's coming out this morning to get into.Should United be doing that?Abso -bloody -lutely they should.This is a bloody transfer window.

You cannot map it out just because you're Man United.And you know what?When I hear, well, we'll get into that in a minute.Let's just go through the news.So look, a little bit later this morning, we've had Matty Moreto update.We've had Romano update.

We'll get into all that diving.You're not the presenter of the show.If you want to go and present your own show, go for it.We know what we're covering and we'll go through that.But there is a strategy to what we're going to do this morning.tell the story.

So we're live a little bit later this morning.It's normally at 10 a .m.It's 11 a .m.I needed my seven hours sleep.

I watched Uruguay -Spain at 1 a .m.Thanks, everybody, who tuned in on the Watch Along on That's Football.We got to see it live in 4K.We got to see what happened with the Agate.I've seen people waking up this morning who didn't watch it going, well, it might not be that bad.

It's bad.It's bad.Uruguay are out of the World Cup.At the point of that injury, there were still ages left and they were losing 1 -0 to Spain.You don't go off on a stretcher in agony with your knee if you just had a little knock.He was in big trouble.

And he's not, you know, in fairness to Agata, I wish it had worked out at Man United, but he's not that type of player.He was, I'm not going to swear on a morning show or I'm going to try not to, he was in big trouble.Is it in ACL?I don't know, but he's in big trouble.I think we're talking potentially a season ender and the season hasn't even started.But certainly I think we're talking months and months and months.

Think about Martinez.So that's a huge problem for Man United because I think going into the World Cup, they were like, hopefully he's going to do quite well and somebody is going to take him on loan, maybe even buy him.I think buying him was probably not possible, but certainly a loan.Now, United have always made it very clear through every journalist and every brief, they will only bring a third midfielder in when Agaté goes.So what happens now?Agaté isn't going, but isn't available.

Are they going to commit the worst sin of all and say, we're not buying a third midfielder because Agaté is here, but Agaté can't play?This is going to be massively compelling to see how United react to this.Now, some people think they'll just promote a youth player, which is ridiculous.Fletcher or someone like that.That's ridiculous.Some people think they might go for a loan because it's cheaper.

Some people are hoping that they'll justmake Man United abandon their stupid strategic parameters and go we need three midfielders regardless of Agaté.I don't know what we're going to do, but we will definitely be panicking now.All this, oh we're relaxed, we're calm and we're patient.I mean, literally last night we were talking about United being patient and Andy Mitten or The Athletic or maybe it was Manchester Evening News saying that Man United feel that if they're patient, they'll get their rewards.Well, patience has not given you any rewards, has it?

Patience has given you a player that you wanted to sell with a, you know, season -ending injury that you're not going to be able to move on.It's catastrophic.The Agaté injury is catastrophic for Manchester United.And I'd love to know your comments on how you think that's going to work out.But then the second story this morning is basically coming in around Enzo Mateus Ferrari.Fernandes.

Man United are back in the hunt for Mateus Fernandes and trying to get ahead.In the last few hours there have been new contacts with the player and they're willing to improve their contractual offer to convince him to sign.This is from Matti Moretto, that's basically saying that we're going to increase wages.Fabrizio Romano has said in the last few hours as well West Ham will only sell to the highest bidder.If it's a pound more from Man United than Spurs, they will sell to Manchester United.It's open.

The player is open to both offers, which I don't like that.I really want to believe he prefers us.But Romano is saying the player is open doors to both clubs and that effectively it comes down to West Ham and it comes down to who bids the most money.It's an open race, basically.That's what it is.But the indication is that Man United still believe they're in that race.

West Ham have told George Mendes, the agent, that Fernandes will be sold to the club of his choice.money.Who offers one penny more will get the player.Man United are yet to give up, as per Fabrizio Romano.Last few hours, apparently, we're back in.Apparently, we're going to hold direct talks with West Ham.

Tottenham remain in the race and have pressed in recent days, but now United are trying to get ahead.And then the Manchester Evening News are saying that by the end of the weekend, we could have a good idea of which club he chooses.It might not be a surprise that talks have accelerated in the final week of June, given West Ham's financial situation.There is confidence that Tottenham can do a deal and suggestions they're willing to meet West Ham's 80 million demands.But there isn't yet a sense United are giving up and moving on to other targets.So I think what I would say, and I haven't had much to say any update from our source for about a week so i need to probably get in contact with them actually but looking at it i think we had a week where united were trying to convey this we're relaxed we're relaxed i don't think you can be relaxed in fact i would not want to hear that man united are relaxed this morning it would very much annoy me because i think you can be a successful ambitious business and still not be relaxed.

I think, you know, if you're Manchester City and Rodri did his ACL last night and Haaland did his ACL last night, neither did and Haaland didn't play.Man City wouldn't wake up and go, we're relaxed.They'd go, fucking hell, that's a nightmare.

We need to act quickly.So this persona of being relaxed, which United always put out in a transfer window, when we're not relaxed, United always put it out, we're relaxed.It's not actually a good thing.Being relaxed is not actually the character traits of success.Sometimes you've got to go, this is shit, we need to act.And I think finally this weekend, Man United will be doing that.

And it sounds like we are doing it because We know what Spurs are going to do if Spurs bid, which they did.may do, they are going to offer around £80 million and they're going to offer around £200 ,000 a week in wages.Now, from what we know, Man United wanted to offer around £65 ,000 and around £150 ,000.So it's short.It's short on both.What we're hearing this morning is that Man United are not out and they are going to try again, which means we're smashing down our own parameters.

Good!Good.Maybe I'm the wrong player.I'll hold it up there.But finally, it seems like there's a bit of reality breaking into Man United's arrogant, stubborn policy.Not every summer is going to play out like Mbermo, where it's like, I only want you.

I only want you.I only want you.I only want...Mbermo basically did the job for us last season.You think about it, he did.I'm not going anywhere else.

I just want Man United and I'm going to sit here until it happens.That is not being a director of football.That is not being a good negotiator.That's having it easy.Finally, it looks like we've woken up to the reality of a football club and a transfer window.You've got to fight for what you want.

You've sometimes got to pay a little bit more for what you want.You've got to be competitive to get what you want.So I think this morning Man United are panicking.Thank God.I think Man United this morning will be calling them emergency meetings.I think Man United this morning, their transfer plans are in tatters.

Good.Because it's the fire up the arse, the rocket up the arse that the club needs.We can't just sit back there going, we're relaxed, we're Craig David, we're walking away.We've got to go into this two -footed and try and make something happen.So look, I can't promise we're going to win.

But if we are going to win, if we are going to get Mateus Fernandes, it wasn't part of the plan to do this.It wasn't part of the plan to give him these wages.And it wasn't part of the plan to pay this fee.But as many people are saying in the chat, You walk away to Alex.

you've got the same problem.You go to Belabor, you've got the same problem.You will overpay.There is no fair value market.There is no fair value in any midfielder that we're looking at.Everybody is going to bump their price up.

So if you want to walk away to Alex Scott, a £50m player becomes a £70m player.If you want to go for Baleba, a £40m player is going to be £60m, £70m.If you want to jump into the Tonali race, that's going to be £90m to £100m.So everywhere we go, we will be paying big fees now.And I'm hoping this morning that Man United have woken up, literally woken up and gone, whichever way we go, our policy doesn't work.Whichever way we turn, we ain't getting fair value.

So we may as well overpay for Fernandez because he's actually a high priority.And I think that's what we're going to do.So all this conversation about, oh, he only wants us.It's been sorted for weeks.Bullshit.Bullshit.

Even I got hooked by it.Bullshit.Whoever was putting that out, they're bullshitters.Oh, we've been working on it for months.He only wants Man United.Complete and utter horseshit, right?

The reality is today.

the reality is that United are going to have to overpay and pay them good wages to get this deal done.And if we do, hallelujah, we've finally woken up and got into the transfer market because that's what you have to do.And what I'd add to that is I don't mind United having a transfer policy that I disagree with or you disagree with if it works.So if Wilcox & Co say we're not going to overpay, we're not going to overpay on wages and we're not going to buy people over 26 and we'll win the league.And I look at it and go, well, to be fair, he did do that at Southampton.He did do that at Man City.

You know, he is one of the best director of footballs in the world.And if Sir Jim Radcliffe said that and he'd done it with Nice, I'd go, well, look, he's done it with Nice.And if Barrada had done it before and look, Man City, all right, he wasn't.Man City, but I don't think he was a huge part of Man City, and they had a very different transfer policy.

The policy that they're trying to implement about structure and limits has no experience to it.Not one United fan can go, that works.

And I don't think it does work.And I don't think you...I don't think you think it works.I don't think you think we can win the league by having a wage limit of 200 grand a week and a transfer budget of 80 million pounds and a, you know, you can't buy anyone over 26.

I don't think anyone thinks that's going to win us a title.The club probably do, but there's nobody with any...Jason Wilcox doesn't know whether that's going to work.Berrada doesn't know whether it's going to work.Sir Jim Radcliffe doesn't know whether it's going to work.And the Glazers don't know whether it's going to work.

We have a policy that no one trusts.If we're breaking that down this morning and saying we've got to break it down, great, great.

And the most important thing is if we do break it down, Mateus Fernandes needs to be an absolute surefire hit so we can go, well, look.You decided to pay £80 million.You decided to pay big wages to get this player and look what happened.So look, I think it's going to be very, very interesting around Mateus Fernandes.And I am encouraged this morning because it's proper updates from proper journalists with credibility saying that United are still in the race and look like they're going to challenge Spurs.Spurs are paying stupid money for Mateus Fernandes.

Let's not be unfair here.He's a £60 million player who's worth £150 ,000 a week.someone's going to bid 80 and give him 200.It's too much money, but beggars can't be choosers.Sometimes it's worth spending a little bit more to get the player that you want.

Let me just catch up on a couple of Super Chats.Then we're going to talk about the Agaté injury and what that means for a third midfielder, which is separate to this, but still very, very big.No excuses now.

They get to have, they have to get the third midfielder.Agaté is out for nine months.If they don't, it's a nail in the coffice for the season, says Arshin.First speedy recovery to Agaté.No one wishes to talk about it.Second, United should have been taking this transfer window seriously from the start.

We are playing catch up, Emily, yeah.

Seeing Bayern got Brown and Sabari for 110 million euro already makes this Fernandes deal look like a song and a dance.This should have been decided weeks ago, says Dennis.

And I don't see the balance with Menu and Fernandes.I don't.I don't.I really don't, Jacob.I don't.Unfortunately, it's the wrong player, says Dan Davey.

And what are the chances Moura being a target from Mexico, says Brandon.This Moura is, I think he's like 17.He's going to be the next big thing out of Mexico.I'd love Manchester United to have a Mexican player.They love their football over there.We had Chikarito.

I'd love us to do that, but I've not heard anything about it.And to be honest, he's the sort of player that's going to play for Man City.I mean, I don't know whether you saw it last night.He was being linked to Man City.And Boadii is now being linked to Man City.And I'm just sort of like Man City are...

I don't like Man City.And I think a lot of people want them to get found guilty.But one thing I will always say about Man City is if you are a fan of Man City, it must be great because you know your club are going to go and get you the players nine times out of ten.You know, Boadii, yeah, let's go and get him.Anderson, let's go and get him.Erling Haaland, let's go and get him.

Semenyu, let's go and get him.I don't know how we're meant to compete with that.if it continues.If Man City don't get...

We're basically hoping the Premier League win that case, because if we don't, if they don't, what's going to stop Man City?They're already miles ahead of us and they just keep buying better than us, don't they?But look, in relation to Agaté, let's just deal with the facts first, right?

Manchester United, through multiple journalists over the last two months, have made it very clear that they want three midfielders if they can move Agaté on.That has been written by many a journalistand you can go and find it yourself.We've covered it here numerous times.Man United want three midfielders, but Agaté needs to go.Does that mean we're down to two?

If Agaté's not going, does that mean we're down to two?Now, logically, any football club would go, well, you sat in the boardroom, the director of football puts his hand up and says, am I buying three midfielders or am I buying two, considering Agaté's injured?And the guy in charge goes, you're buying three.because Agaté is out for the season and that leaves us with three first team midfielders once we've bought Fernandes.Meunier, Fernandes, Ederson.It's not enough.

So you are buying three midfielders because Agaté is injured.That's the logical thing.Agaté's injury doesn't change anything.We still buy three midfielders.And that's what I'm hoping is going to happen.Unfortunately, this is Manchester United and we like sell to buy.

Ironically, with Agaté himself, we didn't bring him in until late August, despite wanting him and having him lined up for two months, until we'd sold McTominay.Agaté happened so late in that window because we were waiting to sell McTominay, create the space for Agaté.It's a strange way of running a football club, but that's what United do.And this summer, that was the plan.You remove Agaté and you replace him with the third midfielder.So United could say, we're not getting a third midfielder because Agaté is not going.

Now Michael Carrick and Wilcox would then say, but he's not available.Well, that's not the deal.The deal was remove Agaté, remove his wages and replace him with a third midfielder.Injured or not, we're still paying his wages.There is no wage for a third midfielder.And wages are more important than transfer fees at Man United.

Trust me, wages are more important.Maybe we could have paid £116 million for Elliot Anderson, but we were never going to pay £300 ,000 a week.Maybe we could pay £90 million for Tonali, but we were never going to pay £250 ,000 a week.Maybe we could pay £60 million for Bruno Guimaraes, but we were never going to pay £250 ,000 a week.We are going to be paying Agaté £125 ,000 a week to be injured.United may well say, we're not replacing Agaté while we're still paying him.

I don't have the answer to that.I don't have the answer to that.I think it's very much what you think is going to happen.Logically, he's out injured for the season.We need to replace him.With this board, we're not replacing him because we're not going to pay a wage for someone to replace him.

I think we will replace him with somebody very cheap.That could be a youth player.That could be a loan.That could be a really cheap transfer.So, I think that might be what we would do and also we'd already heard that anyway.We'd already heard this week if we get Mateus Fernandes, United would like to buy a third cheap midfielder.

So I've always been working to the reality, my reality, that Edison was the cheap midfielder, Mateus Fernandes was the second midfielder and Chiomini would be the third midfielder.I think what we're working to is Edison's the midfielder, mid -midfielder, Fernandes would be the marquee signing and we'll get some cheap third midfielder.That's what I think will happen.Who that cheap third midfielder would be, because I don't know who's cheap in this market.I mean, people say Tyler Adams, but Bournemouth would probably want 50 million in this market.That's not cheap.

Are there any cheap midfielders out there?Somebody was saying Goretzka on a three.That won't work because he's free and his wage will be huge.So I don't know who we would go for in relation toa third midfielder, but I would imagine they'll be cheap.Jason says FIFA will cover Agaté's wage.

Well, look, if that's the case, and I suppose it makes sense because it's the World Cup, yes, that may lead us to there.But I still think it will be a cheap third midfielder, Jason.I don't think it's because he's still a Man United player in a year's time, isn't he?He might be back at Christmas.I just think that they have to buy a third midfielder.I just think it will be somebody cheap.

Hayden Hackney, maybe someone like that, yeah.But that's not good enough.That's not good enough.I don't think Edison's good enough to be the second midfielder.I don't think Mateus Fernandes is good enough to be the marquee signing.And I don't think...

I mean, if you're saying to me, our midfield four next season is Mainu, Fernandes, Edison and Hackney, I think our midfield's really weak again, on paper.Might be wrong, might work really well, but I think Manu, Edison, Fernandes and Hackney doesn't really make me confident for next season.There's a lot of ifs, buts and maybes in there, you know, so we'll have to wait and see.But United will be reeling this morning from that because it will mess up their plans.And also they'll be reeling because of what they're going to do about this Fernandes deal.Going back to the Fernandes deal, I'm actually more encouraged than, you know, I feel more positive than negative about it because we're still in the race.

And everybody who's talking about the race is saying to win the race, you've got to spend big.I know some of you don't like spending big, but I was talking about this on That's Football last night.Somebody was saying, would you pay 300 grand a week for Elliot Anderson?And I'm like, why wouldn't you?Wow, it's too much.Who are you?

I'm a Man United fan.Why are you saying it's too much to pay wages for a player that we want?Wow, it's just silly.Yeah, but wages, football wages are silly anyway.Even someone getting 100 grand a week is silly.Why bother about 300 grand a week?

That's just too much.Are you Omar Barrada, are you?No, I'm just a fan.Why are you a fan of Man United, but you worry about wages?Never used to happen.20 years ago, it was never a conversation.

When we signed Van Nisseroy, no one ever went, oh, wages might be a bit much, or Rooney, or Ferdinand, or Cole.We never went, oh, wages, wages.It's a new thing.It's an illness.It's an illness in the fan base to talk about wages.It's a Glazer plan.

You are basically applauding our owners for not spending money.When you say, I wouldn't give Elliot Anderson 300 grand a week, or I wouldn't give Tenali 250 grand a week, you're basically a mug.

Because last season, the Glazers bumped the prices up for tickets when we weren't even in Europe.They made you pay more for shit.And then you applaud them for paying less for shit.We should be demanding that we pay the wages that Man City pay.We should be demanding that we pay the wages that Arsenal pay.Liverpool paid Gakpo £260 ,000 a week.

We don't want to pay anyone £200 ,000 a week.I want Man United to pay big wages for good players.What I don't want is to give £400 ,000 a week to Alexi Sanchez when he's a bag of shite.What I don't want is to give £250 ,000 a week to Mason Mount.That's the mistake.I don't want to pay big wages for shit.

I want to pay big wages for big players.But United just don't want to pay big wages at all and some of our fans want to applaud it, which I find hilarious considering the Glazers rip you off every single day and you're applauding them for not spending money.If you want to win the league, you better start demanding we pay big wages.If you don't want to win the league and you want to pay big wages,to be irrelevant, keep applauding Man United being tight, because we won't win anything with this policy that we've got.Which is why I'm excited this morning, because if we're going to break our own rules to get Fernandes, we're going to have to pay him big wages and give West Ham a big fee.

And I'll applaud that, because I might not think Mateus Fernandes is the right player, and I don't, but if they think he's the right player, I'll applaud them spending what it takes to get what they want.If they think he's the guy, spend the money.

If you get it wrong, you'll get the blame.But if they think he's the guy, go and get him.I like Mateus Fernandes.Personally, if it's him or Ciumini, it's Ciumini.If it's him or Tonali, it's Tonali.And they are available.

If we're getting him and Ciumini, great.I don't necessarily think we are.I think Mateus Fernandes as the Casemiro replacement worries me, but maybe, maybe that Chiomini deal will happen as well, you know.Why don't you think he's the guy?I think it's, I just don't, it's not even his fault.I don't, I don't think a player that was good for West Ham who got relegated is necessarily the guy to come in and replace Casemiro at Man United when we're going to try and win the league and do well in the Champions League.

Not my words, the words of Barada.I also think he's young and we don't develop talent very well.and I think it's a huge ask to put him in a midfield with Mainu and say, go and be successful.I'd be much happier with a Bruno Guimaraes, a Chiumini or a Tonali because I think they're more proven than him.But I'll back him.I think he's a good player.

But I've always been honest with you.I'd rather sign Scott anyway.I know that's a minority view, but I prefer Alex Scott as a player to Fernandes.I just prefer the profile of him.I just prefer Alex Scott anyway.There's not.

lot between it.And I'm not in any way, shape or form saying don't sign Mateus Fernandes.I'm actually saying go and sign him.He's a good player.He's an exciting player.And if he's the player that the club wants, we should overpay.

Absolutely.I just would prefer a more experienced Casimiro replacement.And I actually would slightly prefer Alex Scott as well.But, you know, it's not, I would say to the club, go and break the bank.I want the club to go and get plan A. And it feels to me that Mateus Fernandes to Carrick and Wilcox and Barada is their priority today.I don't think it was a month ago to be honest.

I don't think it was.I think Elliot Anderson was the priority.I think maybe Tonali was more of a priority.Maybe Bruno Guimaraes was more of a priority, but they were too expensive.So as of today, I think Mateus Fernandes is Man United's priority.Go and get him.

Go and get him.Do you think he will sign for Man United, Mark?I've always had a hunch that he would.I don't have any information on it and I'm not going to pretend that I do.I've always had a hunch that they would.I think the updates today, you've got to sort of go through history and go, did we win these battles with these updates in the past?

And AI is never going to help you with this because it's a human brain that does it.How many battles have Man United won in a head -to -head where a decision is about to be made And we're still very much in the race fighting.How many times have we won those battles?We've won quite a few, to be fair.So I think we will win it.I think we're going to overpay.

I think we're going to give him a big wage.I don't mind that if it's the player they want.So I think we probably will win it.But Spurs are there.And the other side of the coin is when Romano said he's opened the door to both teams.That doesn't need to be said unless it's true.

You could say he prefers a move to Man United because of the Champions League, but will join Spurs if Man United don't put a bid in that West Ham accept.You could get that update and I wouldn't mind that update.But the update was he's opened the door to both and it's about who pays the most money.So let's see.I don't think Spurs and West Ham have that type of relationship.I mean, they were literally up against each other two months ago trying to get each other relegated.

So I don't think Spurs and West Ham have any loyalty to each other to help, you know, screw United.Yeah.Yeah.I don't think it's the Mateo Fernandes screw job for Man United.No, I think there's a genuine appetite.And look, there's no guarantee that Spurs are going to get Tenali.

They could end up being like Newcastle bidding for players and missing out.So, yeah, yeah.We've already done the wages covered by FIFA.Slow sports news in the chat there.Yeah, FIFA probably do cover the wages because it was an injury in the World Cup, but that doesn't change much for United as a player.We've already heard before the injury that the third midfielder will be a cheap one.

So the question is, who's that going to be?which is why it's really important that United are moving today on Mateus Fernandes and getting it done.And I don't think they will be relaxed anymore.I think that's a good thing.Yeah, I mean, look at, you know, you only have to...It's a great point from John.

You only...Look, I think that, honestly, we're not very good at transfers.We're not.We want to believe that we are, but we're not.I think we believe we are, not we.I think the club think they're good at what they do.

They're not.And Jon is right.A decent football club would do what Arsenal did last year.That's power.You line Jocarez and Sesco up.They both want to come.

You play one against the other.You play one club against the other.And you end up with a really good deal on the player that you go for.And Arsenal genuinely were looking at Sesco.They really liked Sesco.They just went with Jocarez.

Whether that's the right choice or not, it doesn't matter.They used both those deals as leverage against each other.And it worked.We should have done that.We should have moved two players against each other.What we've actually ended up doing is going all in on Mateus Fernandes, thinking we'd get him cheap and he'd go all in on us.

You've now got Mateus Fernandes sat there going, is it Spurs?Is it Man United?I can't decide.It's what you pay for me.And United are going head to head with Spurs.And Mateus Fernandes is the prize.

If we'd have had someone else lined up, like maybe Alex Scott or whoever, that might have made Mateus Fernandes get a little bit nervous and go, oh, I don't like the fact they're going for him.Push for Man United a little bit more.But we haven't done that.Tom McBride says, I'm confident we'll get Chiumini now.He's opened the door for us and we have a good relationship with Madrid.Surely we don't mess this one up.

Well, it's not about now, Tom.I told you two months ago that Chiumini had opened the door to Man United.The talks with his agent took place in March.Nothing has actually changed with Chiomini in the sense that he's still a Real Madrid player and if they want to keep him, he will stay.If they want to sell him, which I think they will, he's happy to come to Man United, but then we would have to agree a fee and wages.Now, what I'm hoping is going to happen is we close off Mateus Fernandes this weekend and then Real Madrid open the door to Chiomini in July and we go, fuck it, let's do it.
