Okay, I'm starting my morning off with these Grace and Stella energizing eye masks that I got at Costco the other day because I desperately need a little help. My eyes are feeling very tired today and they need to be energized.

Okay, you know what I think I'm gonna do? I think while these are on, I'm gonna quickly curl my hair just to let them really sit. Okay, while I quickly curl my hair, I'll catch you guys up on what's happening today. First off, my parents are currently on their way over with Holdie.

I'm so excited. I haven't seen Holdie in a few weeks and I miss him so much. Also, of course, I miss my parents too, but I'm just like obsessed with my nephew. My parents are coming over because I'm so excited.

Today, for the first time they are going to see a copy of Let's Get Cooking, my cookbook, which is so exciting and so surreal and I'm really, really, really honored and just I'm over the moon about it. As you guys know, I've been working so hard on this for so, so long and to be able to tangibly hold the book now and to show my parents and also my mom's in the book. It's just like an overall surreal experience for all of us. And the reason why I waited to show my parents is I wanted them to be camera ready. I've seen my parents obviously so many times since I got the book,

but we're a very casual family. They're usually always in like workout clothes. So today I was like, come over, be camera ready and I want to show you guys and we can like have this moment together, which is just going to be so incredibly special. And I'm really excited. And Holdy's going to be here too. I'll show Holdy also. I don't think he'll care, but I'll still show him. So we're starting with that this morning.

And then Cal and I have some more cleaning and organizing to get to today slash also, we have some errands that we need to run today because as I've mentioned to you guys, we're doing a few projects in the house. Nothing crazy. We're not doing like a full remodel of anything. I'll do like devoted content on the actual like changes and things that we're doing to the house. I'm filming it all for you guys.

I'll share all of that for you. But there are just a few places that we wanted to just kind of modernize a little bit slash also kind of give just our own little spin to it. And so we need to go to a few different stores to pick out different things for said projects. We need to go to the tile store, we need to go to the hardware store, and then we also need to go potentially to the paint store.

Oh no, we definitely need to go to the paint store. So we'll get to that today. Also, five mix-its.

And then tonight, Miss K is coming over. I'm so excited. I think I told you guys already, but we're doing a little staycation. Kay at this point now is six months pregnant, which is so incredible and so exciting, and I'm so excited for her. And I actually just had a conversation yesterday on Pretty Basic with Alicia about kind of where my head's at

and what I'm feeling with when we want to start our family, which again, I think that needs a whole like sit down, vlog moment between you and I, because I want to keep you guys updated obviously, but I also don't want to like update you guys too frequently too because I just don't like, I don't want to bore you or like, you know, just talk about it too much, but we have some updates on that.

So I'll share that eventually with you guys. but for the weekend, K is coming out. We're gonna do a little staycation together and just like lay on the couch and eat fun food and play in the pool and it's gonna be so fun. There's a heat wave going on right now so it's gonna be really hot and nice for us to go in the pool and it's just gonna be awesome. I cannot wait, I can't wait to have my girl.

Oh, I will say, we also have not set up the guest room yet. So actually that's gonna be number one thing we do after my parents leave. I was incredible to share with my parents those those moments that I'm gonna hold on to that I also feel like I've worked my whole life for if I'm being honest and I feel like I know a lot of you guys in general this is like for everybody but also specifically this is my experience and I know a lot of you guys also out there are Asian American or Asian so much what we strive for our whole lives is to be told that our parents are proud of us. And when I hear it now, it's still like, it just feels surreal. And it just meant the most to be able to share that moment with my parents. And I'm just so honored and excited. And my mom like

called me crying on the way home to like, it's just it meant a lot. And I'm so happy I have chills talking about it that I could share those moments with you guys as well and thank you guys for everything like I say it all the time but like thank you for everything and I mean that from the bottom of my heart and that was just so special to share. So we are now in the guest room we are working on what I'm calling K's room because K is the first one who's going to be staying in here. Okay, so we got started on this room the other day, but then we needed to wash the rug. It's a ruggable rug that we had, or that we're gonna use in here. This rug used to be in my glam room. Now we're putting it in the guest room. the old house and just kind of re-dispersing it, but I think it's gonna look really nice and I have to show you guys. As you know, the bed is the bed from

my old apartment, but what's really sick about this room specifically and why I think it's also gonna be just such a great guest room is first off, the lights on either side of the bed are so beautiful and what's really cool is there's a light switch on each side to control the actual like reading lamp portion of it. And then there's also this light switch, which actually does the actual above room lighting, which is great because then guests don't have to get up and down out of bed to turn on or off the lights, which is just like a little extra touch

to just create a really nice, relaxing environment. So with that, let's put this rug down. Okay rug is down. Sorry for that view of the mattress the whole time. Look at my little jumping horse. We did what we do best. We watched movies, we ate snacks, we played games, we caught up on like everything going on in our lives and it was just so nice for her to come up and visit, see the new house and it was so nice to see her and the baby. It's so crazy. It was just like... it's so surreal.

I'm sure if you guys have also had friends since you were kids, it's so incredibly special to be able to be in her life and to share these moments with her and I mean this is something that again we've talked about since we were since we were kids. I always talk about this and I put it in her speech at her wedding but something so special about Kay that I have always admired since we met in the eighth grade was I remember on the first day of ninth grade I sat right behind her in English class and that's where we really got close

First day of ninth grade. I was like, what do you want to do when you grow up? And she was like, I want to be an elementary school teacher at the time It was kindergarten which she did do she's changed grades since then but she was like I want to be a kindergarten teacher and to watch her all these years go after exactly what she wants and be the best teacher ever. Like any kids that get put in her class are so lucky. Those parents are so lucky. The school is so lucky to have her. Like I'm so proud of her.

And she's also always wanted to be a mom. And I know she is going to be the best mom ever. And so to be able to sit back and just watch her, achieve her dreams and just live the life that she's always wanted. Like I have chills talking about it. I'm so excited for her. And I just cannot believe that we're here.

We were sitting and just like talking and I looked around and I was like, we're here. Like something that we've talked about for our whole lives, like it's happening. And I know I keep talking about this, but like I have a lot of these moments right now

where I sit back and I'm like you get older it just goes by faster and faster but I'm like Can we just like slow down a little bit? Because I I really want to soak everything up right now and I want I want to be as present as I possibly can But it was so nice to have her. I love her so much I'm actually seeing her again very very soon Which I'm so excited because I don't get to often see her like twice so close back-to-back. So yeah, I can't wait wait, she's gonna come back up very soon. We've got a lot of exciting stuff happening over the next like month. There's so many things happening.

One big thing is that tomorrow we are leaving on a ski trip with Basically Unfiltered. We're doing a ski trip finally. So excited. You guys know I grew up skiing, so I love, love, love the mountains.

I'm gonna have so much fun. And also what's great is we have all of our stuff back. So I have my custom like boots, cause you guys know I got the wide calves. So skiing with rentals is very painful for me as a girl with like 17 and a half inch calves. So I'm so excited to have my boots back, my skis back so I can have like a comfortable experience doing it because there have been so many times in my life

that I do rentals and I'm like crying on the verge of like tears because it's so painful for my wide calves to ski. So that's gonna be so much fun. We've got that over the next couple days. The book tour's coming up so soon. Like we have actually so much stuff that we need to get done.

I'm a little overwhelmed, but it's also gonna be fine. And I woke up this morning and I felt like, oh my God, there's so much to do. I have so little time. But for moments like that when I'm really stressed, Lists in my notes. I wanted to like I thought about telling you guys this and I hope that it'll help any of you guys I make like 50 notes a day of just random things that come into my mind and it just really helps for me to just like

Put it out whether it's like pen to paper in my phone highly recommend So I made a list of everything that I need to get done today before we leave tomorrow and seeing it physically written out I'm like I can totally get this done in the next 24 hours. And it's not as overwhelming as I thought that it was. So it is gonna be a lot, but that's okay. We are gonna go record a podcast episode tonight. But before then I have some things that I wanna get done.

First thing that I've been really wanting to do is we have this beautiful staircase in the house and someone on TikTok or maybe YouTube commented and told me that it's giving Blair Waldorf, which I am so honored. As someone who just re-watched Gossip Girl from start to finish, I can't say I disagree

with the spiral staircase of it all and the tones and everything. I love it, hugest compliment ever. And also there's a little circular alcove right here. And when we walked in and toured this house, immediately I was like, Christmas.

Christmas tree is gonna go there. It's gonna be amazing and so beautiful. I just can't wait. But one thing that I wanna do right now, and this is just like a temporary fix, eventually I would like to get this done professionally, but it's just not an absolute necessity right now.

And so we're gonna wait until we feel like it's a better time. But for now, what we're gonna do is, I actually did these at the rental, I told you guys during the rental house tour. I got these little sticky carpet things. Let's be honest, they're not the cutest, but they are functional and necessary because with these hardwood floors,

the dogs can easily slip when they've got their nails and just, I don't want anybody slipping, I don't want anybody to get hurt. So these are really nice. So again, not the cutest, but very functional. They're like little carpet strips. And then I told you guys, you kind of peel back this little plastic on the back

and it's just got like a silicone grip. So it's super sticky on the actual wood itself, but it comes off really easily. So it's renter friendly. Or again, in the future, I would like to do this professionally one day, like when they put the really pretty rugs down and then have those really gorgeous metal rods

that hold it in place. Eventually we will do that, but for now we're gonna go with this cost effective option. I just bought a few packs of these on Amazon and I went with just this neutral color. Again, it's not gonna be the prettiest,

but it'll work for now. So with that, let's do it together. I'm gonna start by just vacuuming the stairs. Get them nice and clean.

Oh, I just realized, we were going to go to the tile store the other day, but we ended up running out of time. And then we were gonna go today, but they're closed. So we're gonna leave tomorrow morning before we leave for our ski trip so that is still happening sorry we put that they were a little bigger These are the biggest ones I could find as you could see Luna already loved laying on them and playing on them But I will say even just walking on them right now

Like it's so much softer on my feet already and it's gonna be so much better for their joints. So yay We just recorded.
