military's Central Command says it struck 140 targets across the country.Within hours, Iran once again retaliated.The country's Revolutionary Guard Corps saying it hitted US bases in Jordan, Oman and Kuwait with Bahrain, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates also being targeted by Iranian missile and drone attacks.

launching a third round of strikes this week.American fighter jets taking off on a mission to destroy Iranian targets.The US military says it hit missile and drone sites, ammunition storage facilities, communication networks and coastal surveillance locations.US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth on social media said, Iran made a poor choice, now they pay.The bombardments in response to Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps attacking the GFS Galaxy, a container ship sailing in the Strait of Hormuz under the flag of Cyprus, causing an on -board fire and significant damage to the vessel's engine room.According to the UK Maritime Trade Operations, the crew have now been rescued after abandoning ship and boarding a lifeboat.

The IRGC says it targeted the ship after it ignored instructions to correct its course.The latest escalation prompting warnings of even more devastating responses.Tehran swiftly firing back at Washington's allies in the Gulf.Bahrain activating air raid sirens.Qatar urging residents to shelter indoors and reporting injuries from falling debris.While the UAE says it intercepted Iranian missiles and drones.

Oman, Jordan and Kuwait were also targeted.Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei, who's not been seen in public since before the war, vowed to avenge the death of his father and predecessor Ali Khamenei, who was killed in a US -Israeli airstrike in February.Mojtaba's words read out on state TV.and Iran's top negotiator issuing his own threat.The era of one -sided deals is over, he said.We told you, keep your word or pay the price.

Just a day after visiting Kiev, prominent US Senator Lindsey Graham has died suddenly at the age of 71.The Republican Senator from South Carolina was a vocal critic of US President Donald Trump early in his career before becoming one of his most loyal allies.In a post paying tribute, President Trump described him as a true American patriot.Graham was known as a military hawk who backed the Iraq war and long pushed for military action in Iran.His office said he died after a brief and sudden illness.Mr Graham met Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Kiev on Friday, also paying tribute.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who said Israel has lost one of its greatest friends.Vietnam's Prime Minister has ordered an investigation into the deaths of 15 Indian tourists in a speedboat accident.The boat capsized near Phu Quoc Island in southern Vietnam, trapping some passengers inside the vessel.21 people were rescued and were taken to hospital, with two in a critical condition.

The boat was carrying 32 Indian tourists and four crew members when it overturned shortly after leaving shore while returning from an island trip.Nearby vessels rushed to the scene.Witnesses described seeing the boat tip over.Some passengers were pulled from the water, but others were trapped underneath it.Vietnamese TV showed rough seas and strong winds as the Coast Guard and jet skis ferried survivors back to shore, while people on the beach provided first aid to survivors.Vietnamese state media announced the tragic news.

Dear viewers, 15 people have been killed in a serious boat accident at Phu Quoc Island in Kien Giang province.A boat carrying 32 Indian tourists and three crew members capsized on its way back to shore from the May Root Island.

Local officials said that 21 people were rescued and taken to hospital, two in critical condition.In India, the families of victims mourn the loss of their loved ones.

Nigerian security forces have rescued dozens of school children and teachers who were abducted nearly two months ago.Armed men targeted multiple childrenin the southwestern Oyo state in mid -May, taking 44 into captivity.The youngest of them aged just two.Eight suspected kidnappers have been arrested and are in custody.The state's governor said several of the rescued are in a fragile condition.

Typhoon Bavi has made landfall in China as the most powerful storm to hit the country this year, and the second within a week.Bavi first came ashore in the eastern province of Zhejiang around 11 .30 last night local time, packing winds of up to 144 kilometres an hour.Earlier, nearly two million people were evacuated from its path.Bavi has now weakened as it heads inland.

The immense force of Typhoon Bavi, as seen on Taizhao's waterfront, hours after making landfall at nearby Yuhuan City.Then a second time here in Yueqing, where hundreds of trees were uprooted, just 50 kilometres away, the city of Wenzhao, population 10 million.Bavi becoming a test of China's ability to cope with extreme weather.Earlier, the National Meteorological Centre issued an orange typhoon alert, the second highest level.Some Wenzhou residents, though, were defying warnings just hours before Bavi's expected arrival.

Evacuations were called across Zhejiang province, some 1 .7 million people.told to leave their homes, many assisted in making it to shelters.According to Wenzhao's government, the proactive all -out mobilization, which is sparing no effort or cost, is undertaken entirely to guard against the worst -case scenario.More than 100 ,000 people from neighbouring Fujian province were also evacuated.Another 34 ,000 from areas of Shanghai.Across Zhejiang province, hundreds of flights and train services were cancelled.

This morning, however, Bavi was downgraded to a severe tropical storm as it moved inland and its winds slowed.Still, there's a huge volume of moisture within a storm system around the size of France.and widespread rainfall across eastern and northern China in coming days.While scientists warn that China could face more extreme weather this year as an emerging El Nino weather pattern makes tropical storms in the Pacific more intense.The aftermath of Bavi's earlier destructive path is becoming clearer.In Taiwan, more than 130 people are reported injured and flights continue to be cancelled today after Bavi brushed past the island's northern tip.

Well, they were once revered as master blacksmiths, forging weapons for kings and armies.But India's Gardia Loha community is struggling to preserve their traditions as demand for their trade declines and their nomadic lifestyle disappears.International correspondent Aaron Fernandez visited one of their settlements in India's capital, New Delhi.

By the side of a road in India's capital, New Delhi, thesemen may be among the last of their kind.They belong to the Ghadiye Lohar, a community of traditional blacksmiths.For the past 60 years, Ramesh has worked by the furnace, forging everything from hammers and chisels to kitchenware and garden tools.The Ghadi -e -Lohar originates from the Mewar region of what is now Rajasthan.In centuries past, their ancestors were specialist weapons makers for the Mewar king.

But when the Mewar king suffered a military defeat in the 16th century, the Gardiye Loha were forced to flee.They became nomads and for 400 years travelled across northern India, selling their products.They began to settle in cities only in the 20th century.This community in Sarai Rohilla is one of around 90 in New Delhi where glimpses of their former glory can still be seen.

The Ghadiyar Lohar community says they have

blacksmith tradition has maybe one or two generations left until it's completely lost to history.But just as big a concern for them is their decades -long struggle for permanent housing.Like many of India's once nomadic tribes, the Gardiya Loha settled on vacant land owned by a range of national and state government agencies.That fragmented responsibility has led to housing issues going unaddressed.Most Gardiya Loha communities live under the constant threat of eviction and suffer from a lack of clean drinking water and sanitation.SPS News contacted one of the agencies responsible, the Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board, but did not receive a response.

For now, this proud community perseveres, keeping its centuries -old traditions alive, despite the harsh realities it now faces.In New Delhi, Aaron Fernandez, SBS World News.
