We had to leave our home for awhile...

What's going on guys it has been a minute

Yeah, I know. I haven't seen that. Shout out to Jen Shin for hooking Gloria up. It's been a minute And you know if you've been with Sliced and Riced for a while, you know We gotta do a video like this every three or four months, you know Cuz just life just keep lifin' but we thought it was important to just we wanted to just share this because we really have built a nice relationship with you guys and have been open and honest about stuff so uh two months ago our house had flooded from the inside

it started from the top floor all the way down to the the basement. Uh, Glory discovered it. Uh, she called me like, man, I'm lost. I said, I'm just floating. I'm like, alright, I was what the heck? And then I went in and it was just water everywhere from the end just pouring down. Yeah, like you know when you see like pockets of water in the ceilings it's starting to get bigger it was like that so if you took a knife and poked it would just would have gushed out it was crazy it was coming from our bathroom's faucet um here's some pictures of like what we walked into you just kind of see the the walls and stuff bubbling even in a basement it got on a tv couch everything, everything was crazy. We called the insurance company, they sent out a company to

quickly try to dry everything up. They had loud machines all over the place. Fans everywhere. Yeah, it was and it was like that for about four days just non-stop. Loud. Yeah, and we had a birthday party through all of that too, which was insane. But after they got there was like yeah this everything is dry and I was like are you sure? He was like yeah everything is dry and then our contractor shout out to Rogers our homie Cam Rogers home improvement they did

and this isn't anybody we name drop is we're not getting a deal to get our house fixed alright so we don't have that type of time we just love these people and just wish success for them he was just basically saying like yo I don't think this stuff is fully dry and they need to come back out here so we're calling insurance and stuff and our floors yeah our floors started we noticed the hallway upstairs it just started getting like the wood the wooden floor started expanding it

looked like a groundhog lived in the hallway upstairs to the point where it literally looked like it was underground just moving so our contractors finally pulled it and it was mold everything throughout our house just started molding where the flood happened

and our contractor was like yo just move out. It's not safe to live here right now or like sleep there and so we kind of thought that it was only gonna be like a weekend like fix yeah which is so naive but we were like we booked we ended up booking a hotel for three or four days

yeah yeah it shouldn't take that long we just want to bring people but this is our first insurance claim with the house so we're just rapidly learning so much stuff and during this entire process I'm confused I'm trying to figure stuff out and it went from three days to I think it's gonna be two months we're like two months so we got the calling around because we're trying to find a temporary apartment place luckily our insurance was like yeah

well you know set y'all up with a temporary housing and stuff so call in different places this took forever though like here's some

video of where like our hotel if you're only gonna be up for three or four days you're not gonna get a suite you're not gonna try to get the biggest deluxe like some people like, I was... Not us, we was just like... It was small. Four people and a cat.

Yeah, it was crazy.

Tripping over each other.

So during this entire process... So while all of this is happening, my dad was rushed to the hospital because he had a stroke. Another stroke. It was like his second big stroke and everything. So I've been going from the house

to the hotel to the hospitals like all those three things and in the midst of this we we were vlogging but they're not gonna see the light of day because To be honest, it was like a dark time during this two-month period we're in a much better space now because literally and yeah we're finally in an

apartment still not our house like as you can see I don't know if you could tell but it's still not our house we're in an apartment now yeah cuz everything

is getting repaired and stuff but it was just very stressful dealing with all of that and I was going insane and I just don't like to put that out there in the world to that degree because it was just so negative and I just felt like it wouldn't have done any good for anyone to just put that out there but throughout this entire process what I'll say is the family definitely got closer. I mean I think that's the goal when hard things happen man and when me and Gloria was like reflecting we could

see what God, how God was moving through this entire process. It was like, I think the theme was or is purification and renewal. Yes. like our house was moldy lots so it was like amongst like getting that fixed you know you gotta break everything down and when they did that it uncovered even more problems in the house that we didn't even know was there so metaphor what's the metaphor because we

had the same things for ourselves like you know what I mean you stripped me

strictly I'm stripping me a young cover you was like oh my goodness I ain't no

but even to your dad like I feel like even like our cat like I just like everyone was getting like oh yeah my cat

yeah I had to rush her to the pet ER because she was going through it even your car

somebody hit my car you get to get a remodel like everything amongst all this though thank Jesus he kept us safe but there truly I felt and I was like in I'm reading on a bible plan and right now what I was reading was like hitting the spot as to what was happening but I was like in I'm reading on Bible plan and right now what I was reading was like Hinting the spot as to what was happening, but I was like, oh my gosh This is crazy that God is renewing our lives and we're just in a season of our life, too Not just the house like everything to our business like what we do for a living

Everything feels like it's getting renewed and reshaped and when you're in it It's like kind of hard to get through it, but then you gotta kind of look out and be like, okay, step back and be like, what is God doing? And we know for a fact, we don't know 100% sure what he's doing,

but we know that it's a renewal process of something. And so for our house to be going through that is actually a blessing in disguise. of the skies. It sounds really rough to not live in your house and to see all the walls broken down and not have convenient things to your hand, but when you understand the blessings in it, the light at the end of the tunnel of like, oh well it's going to be new again. There were some things exposed that were not good for our health and we would have honestly

never known had that never happened.

You know what I mean?

Yeah.

So it's a blessing in disguise. And so it's just like imagine living in a house that was silently killing you and you didn't even realize it. And so now that the mold is clean, which we had to pay a pocket full of that, oh so much stuff.

Yeah, like that pocket stuff.

It hurt. Every time I put my hand in my pocket, like it just like, it opened up and just just like more and more. But now when we walk through our house, we can just breathe.

And this is what it feels like to breathe normal good air.

I know. And then on top of that, man, like, so I've made jokes in the past of like, oh man, sliced rice fell off and all of that stuff. But now that we've like are back and we walking around, yo fam, you would have thought we've been dropping

like viral bangers nonstop. Like it's to the point we can't even walk anywhere without getting noticed by you guys. And it's been amazing. Like you guys are respectful, loving, and you have no idea how much that has been

lifting up our spirits in this dark time. Even the prayers on Instagram, I put out my little red alert call, like y'all, can y'all just pray, please pray for me. Y'all ain't even ask me, yo what's wrong, nothing like that. Y'all just started praying. And I still get people checking in, and all of that. And I just want to just thank you guys. Thank y'all so much. It

really makes us feel uncomfortable when we go stretches of time even though that's kind of like this happens all the time with our channel. We go long stretches of time without uploading but something about us is that like it's just like this is like a real life type of thing. We have priorities in our life and like making sure things are good. Yeah.

So the one thing we don't wanna do is like put out content that is just not like genuine and authentically us. Yeah. And it would have been difficult to film a funny video when deep down inside we both want to cry our eyes out. Like it just, it just doesn't feel good.

Exactly. We're basically like, we're not going to fake

or force ourselves.

And honestly, I was really grateful in a sense. Cause like, even if you're not seeing something being uploaded, like behind the scenes, Matt is working his like butt talks off. Just like everything of regards to like what we do and I feel like this is the first time he got forced to break because he literally couldn't he had to

help his dad he had to like take all you know I guess it wasn't really a break but it was like a break from work but still it was necessary imagine trying to do that all that on top of that so like it's like the first forced break he's

had yeah I mean but I think it definitely reignited the fire and flames in different areas of like oh man we should do this we should do that it's purification maybe we'll do a video of like going even more deep of like things we've experienced like in the industry and our personal life and all of that I wouldn't say like a podcast but I enjoy these like I like this setting more because I feel like I'm just talking directly to you guys

this way. It feels awkward when I have a microphone looking at you like this because it's like yeah like I talk to you all the time so it's just like this doesn't feel maybe we're just old school. We're old school creators man but yeah this is our third time filming this the the past two ones I looking back on I was like man I

still sound sad and bitter yo. Which is not bad. You be real but like yeah you don't. Wait but look it can we take a

moment to appreciate how pink my hair was at the time? But thank you guys, please be patient. Uh, well you guys always are.

Y'all be like, man, take four years off.

I'm like, no, yo, I can't take, it don't work that way. Especially in entertainment, it don't work that way. This is like, it's so many people making videos now.

It's very hard. next video like idea I have is so fun so make sure you stick around yeah that's gonna be fun. We're finally back into the group like this video kind of marks us like being ready to kind of like jump back in so oh yeah and Gloria's birthday

was a couple days ago when we had fun but we just wanted to give you guys that update I'm pretty sure I've left some things out in this video that I wanted to talk about but it's okay I just we just wanted to let y'all know that like, yo, we've been homeless for like two months. And we finally got a temporary place. We all good. We still kicking it. And it's great to see y'all in person.
