We must end this madness

If you want to be able to live in a brand new home worth a quarter of a million pounds, to buy that home you're going to need a household income of around at least £50 ,000, probably closer to £60 ,000 to £70 ,000 and you're going to need to have saved up for a deposit.Fewer and fewer British people have worked hard their entire lives who would fit themselves into that category and yet now we see and again we talk about the ritual humiliation of the British people.It turns out if you want to be able to live in a brand new home worth a quarter of a million pounds on what looks like quite a lovely estate then all you have to do is break into Britain and you win the grand prize and I want to make another point here that obviously there's gonna be a huge amount of anger quite rightly in this Labour government about this but you know in 2021 it was the Tory controlled Shropshire Council that voted to make Shropshire a a, quote, council of sanctuary.And every other council, it was a unanimous cross party, unanimous decision.Obviously, reform didn't have anyone on that council.

So what we're seeing now, and the reason why I think it is inflaming emotions so much, provoking people so much, is because my inbox is full, Michelle, of people saying, Zia, I don't know why I bother.Why do I bother?What you're seeing in those pictures is something that was aspirational.If you go back to the early 1980s, those are the sorts of houses that particularly young people getting their second, third, fourth jobs, wanted to be able to go out and buy.And now what we're seeing is there's this ridiculous snakes and ladders system where an illegal migrant, we talk about incentives, break into the country illegally and you will get to live in a home like that at the expense of the people who aspire to live in a home like that but never will.
