Why is Everyone Wearing Wired Earphones?

Have you noticed that everyone is wearing wired earphones all of a sudden?Drake wears them, Bella Hadid, Zendaya, Harry Styles, and it's not just celebs.Wired sales globally have been tanking every year for the last half a decade, but then 2026 hit, and now they're exploding.So is this a price thing?Maybe a little.Wired earphones are simpler to make than wireless, so you can get the same sound quality for less money, but I don't think $50 is the reason that Drake is using a less good product.

So then clearly, people are choosing the wire, but why?You know, you get these nice physical controls on the side.You can bring the mic closer to your mouth if you're in a loud environment.

You don't have to charge them.These are all reasons that you could justify using wired for.But what was the trigger point?It was actually more societal than practical.Counter -signaling, basically the inverse of flaunting your wealth.Having a wire in 2026, when everyone else is using wireless, tells the world, I've decided that I like things less digital.

I make my own choices.I don't blindly follow trends.I guess that's cool now.
