WILLIAM TEXT FURY, LILY EXPOSED & ROYAL APPOINTMENT

You know, Tom, talking to ex -staff members, not the ones in Montecito, but the ones that were working over here at the time when Meghan and Harry were living on royal premises, predominantly originally at Kensington and then over in Windsor, we all know just exactly what a difficult time those staff members had.And I think, you know, when I sort of touch upon these sort of topics, people get it wrong as if I'm defending, you know, but what I'm saying is you do kind of wonder exactly what Prince Harry said.Prince Harry was desperate to get a wife, right?I mean he just wanted that.And I think also he wanted to get a wife that he thought was exotic, that would make him look interesting.There's a talking point, you know, he'd gone through the idea of an English rose but that wasn't going to work and you know he was, I mean, People forget just how complicated Prince Harry was, how demanding.

He's very needy.You know, everything revolves around him.And, you know, for you to be that person's partner and have to be careful, you know, I think, for instance, Chelsea Davy probably thought, you know what?No, this ain't for me.It's like because it just was kind of everything was drawn back.Nobody had actually said to Harry, unlike William, shut up, buck up, get on with it, you know.

And I think the contrast between the two I don't know if you agree is really apparent because even with Harry, you know, he can't keep his anger, his upsetness off his face.It's just there, isn't it?You can see that he's not happy.But when he found this woman, of course, she was able to play very much into that market.You know, she could see the vulnerability.And really from the off, people forget, you know, the business about he turned up late.

He was really sweaty.She was ready to go.She was going nowhere.I mean, just, you know, let's be blunt, that was an engineered meeting and she ain't leaving until she's collected the goods.But what was interesting was the stories that came around.Recently, you know, as I told you ages ago,

on this show, basically, Markle was insinuating to Harry at the time that, you know, she too would like to step out of the rat race and go and live in the depths of Africa, maybe saving animals and stuff.Falsicle, you know, but love is blind, right?You know, if you want to be kind and you can say not from her point, I might point out, but from his point, you know, if somebody tells you this is the life I really want and you can bring me this and you're my saviour.What was Harry saving Markle from?A flop career.I mean, that was it.

You know, there was no danger in her life.There was nobody chasing her.No paparazzis, nothing.People forget this when she talks about how difficult it was.She engineered that by keeping on her own press team when she came over to England.If she really wanted to be protected, she could have stopped all the social media, which she didn't want to do.

That was a big fight behind the scenes, Joms, let me tell you.

So consequently, as she pushed and pushed hard, Harry suddenly came up with this plot of he had to protect his wife and the media were very much against them.The media were really on board.Two reasons, because I worked in the media of that media at that time, fully more in magazines and things, it was somebody new to write about, somebody glamorous.There was makeup, there was hair, there was a smidgen of, you know, TV sort of style stuff attached to it.It all worked very well.So for Harry and her to say, no, this wasn't good, is an absolute farce.

She got front covers where she never would have got front covers, you know what I mean?On top of all of that, she got things there, you know, ultimately, you could have only dreamed of, and this was because she married in.But right from the off, she became difficult and obstinate, not just with the staff members, which is the story that goes.Oh no, the staff were just, you know, there to be tossed aside, basically, because she didn't understand or want to understand.And, you know, a good pivotal point in this is this.I've worked with a lot of Hollywood stars,

press -wise, publicity, and the way they treat their assistants is terrible.But you are there to do a job and you are there to mask this person's, you know, terribleness, whatever you want to call it, you know, because the job is they're paying you to present a picture to the media, how they treat these people behind the scenes, get me this, I want a coffee, and all that sort of stuff.And when they lose that assistance, it's interesting the way it works.For instance, I interviewed a famous actor on a stage in London.And it was a really hot day, a bit like today.And he came in, didn't speak to me, spoke to the stage manager.

He knows I'm there to interview him.And I'm ready, the camera's set up and everything.I can't leave because the TV company want this.So I'm there until he, you know, right.And then he comes in.He says, I'm going to get a cup of coffee.

No offer if I wanted one or the cameraman or the sound man, you see.totally focused on themselves.And I just thought, right, it's going to be like this, is it?He was the most boring person to interview, let me tell you.And, you know, I mean, as I said, we needed it for Australia at the time.And this is the problem with somebody like Meghan Markle.

She has treated people like that because as she climbed up a little bit with the likes of Suits, she couldn't understand, for instance, why the Queen was getting annoyed and aggrieved.And then, of course, this happened.Welcome back, chums, to the latest episode of By Royal Appointment.As ever, it is lovely to have your company.Now, after me, shall we have a double wave?Let's have a double wave.

If they all think you're daft when you're waving, don't bother.I know many of the chums on here say, you know, my husband, Neil, thinks I'm nutty because I'm waving to you or I'm talking to you.Oh, just rope them in.Eventually they'll come round.It's friends.

We're just having a chat.I mean, it doesn't matter to me. I mean, as I've said to you before, I find really strange, as you know,when you're out and about filming, you know, whether it's in a nice secluded area like this, or maybe in the streets in London.And so, you know, something like that.These people come and dance in front of the camera, you know, that side of the camera, as if they're distracting you, they're ruining your shot.You think, how thick are you?

I mean, it's just, you know, the camera has to be pointed to me, you know what I'm saying?So they have it the other way around and then you rush off and laugh and you think, right, you know, it's just you make yourself look silly.But, you know, this is the world we live in, isn't it?So if you're worried about looking stupid, don't, because people do far worse stuff when you're out and about, whether you're in Kensington Park or, you know, Buckingham Palace or something like that.You do, right.You know, I have to say, though, when you go to Buckingham Palace, I meet so many of our lovely chums there.

or over here doing the tourist trail and stuff and it is really kind of you know because you come up and you say hello we have i mean we have so much gossip don't we oh yes leaning over the rails yes gavin i know i remember you you see gavin from boston oh yes and your wife now your wife was mary wasn't she now where was she from but she was part of new york somewhere wasn't she but anyway lovely lovely couple we just ended up gossiping so much and the bloke next to us who was leading over the you know the railing said it's been an absolute education You just forget you're talking, don't you?That's the beauty of our channel, so thank you, thank you, Chums.Let's get back, of course, to your Royal Appointment.

Now this, for me, is a really interesting site because many years down the line you look at things from people who were working on these particular developments with, you know, Meghan and Harry, right?And when I look at it from that perspective, the bit I never really understand, right, Chums, is the way that they not just treat people, I wouldn't say that's the right word in a sense, but the way that, you know, she just was dismissive of things.But as I said, what did Harry really tell her?Maybe she thought, look, I'm marrying this cheese, he's a big cheese.in the family.I can dictate what I want.

It's almost like becoming the top star, the star billing at the Palladium and you've got the star dressing room and now you're just going to do what you want.Of course she hadn't banked on the likes of Angela Kelly.Now as you know I'm a big fan of Angela Kelly because Angela Kelly I thought did a lot to help our monarch in the later years, particularly after the sad demise of the Duke of Edinburgh.You know we've all lost people we love and many of you know I've had that this year and nothing can really.You know, there's great moments and then there's terribly dark moments.And you know what I mean.

For the Queen on a public stage alongside her husband, who was a strength and stay, you know, thank goodness for Angela.Yes, she has, you know, children, Princess Royal, you know, of course, Prince Edward, King Charles.But it's sometimes just the friend you can talk to, isn't it?You know, that's the key thing.And I think Angela did a terrific job in helping the Queen.I genuinely do.

Whatever the other critics might want to say.What was interesting though is, you know, the famous wedding thing and all of the things.Well, everything went wrong, you know, I mean, and this is not a woman who's grateful.Now you have to remember, this isn't Meghan Markle's first time at the rodeo.Remember, she's been down the aisle before and apparently Trevor Engelson was everything that she wanted.She couldn't ever believe that she could ever be any happier.

She got over that quite quickly when apparently Trevor couldn't deliver, you know, the fame.fast enough, allegedly.And so you can see where this all was going, you know, exactly.Second time around, Markle thought she was going to have everything.

And in our terms, she did.I mean, she was given, you know, the tiaras to wear.She was given a wonderful jewellery box to look at, all of this sort of stuff.But all royals know you don't keep it.It has to go back.

Everything is on loan, clothes, everything.But as we know, Markle wanted to keep it.outfits and all of that sort of stuff, wasn't content with dishing them back.What really upset the Queen though was, and this is again an interesting part of it all, is the fact that when you think You're the Queen's age, right?And there is Thomas Markle at that time, probably, what, 75, something, I don't know, 73.And suddenly he's told he's not coming to the second most important date of his daughter's life, but predominantly the biggest date of his daughter's life on a world stage.

Illness has caught up with him, whatever you want to believe in the story.I just figure there could have been a way around it.Talking to people, the Queen felt the same thing.She felt so sorry for Thomas Markle.because she knew, as an older person, you don't get these moments again.What was interesting, as I told you recently, basically, you know, His Majesty the King wasn't necessarily the first choice.

The idea was going to be, you know, one of the other people, right?And remember, she'd invited a lot of people from the cast of suits, but none of her family, just none.

Apparently, she disinvited a niece, I believe, because, of course, you know, the palace had struck her off.Rubbish!You know, not when you've got the Cloonies, love.No, no, no.Again, where this is really interesting is simply this.

You see, as the Queen said, you know, what we're going to do, they quite like the idea of somebody like, for instance, an actor, because it wouldn't necessarily draw too much attention.But apparently, you know, and this is an interesting point at this point, I have to say, that the Queen and the Prince of Wales, Charles, didn't see eye to eye because she didn't think this was the right thing to do.She felt that this was a little step too far, for instance, for Thomas Markle.I mean, you know, how bad is that?Not only can't you now go, but now you've been half walked down the aisle by the Princeof Wales and this really is going to nobody's going to mention you at that point and this did create a bit of a problem until naturally Harry butted in and said well you know she's in tears if she can't and please could you help me and his version of events is that he has his father and you know he said I'll take it from here and all of this it's all very sweet we know differently behind the scenes.

Markle also fell out with the Queen about the menus and stuff like that because it was her day.But you know it's never really your day when you're in the Royal Wedding.You have to look at the Commonwealth, the people that you're inviting.Markle didn't understand why all of these people were coming that she didn't know.Well, you didn't really know the Cloonies.

You didn't really know Oprah Winfrey.You know what I mean?These are the things.But, you know, she was wanting to engineer the guest list to be more to what she wanted, the useful people.

Now, the Queen, as ever, very wise, said, no, this is what we're doing.This is the allocation.She was concerned that Markle didn't have any of her family.But, you know, she'd run out of steam at this particular point.

What was interesting, though, is as the Queen pointed out to an excellent source, and I think you know the one that I've been speaking to.What was interesting was the fact that the Queen basically said, so there's no family at all, and no, just the mother.

So, as the Queen said, well, we can't have her sat there on her own.And apparently the message got back, no, that's what Meghan wants.And the mother's more than happy to sit in the church alone.And that became the focal point.

And apparently the Queen just felt really sad and upset for Doria Ragland.She said, how could anybody just leave this poor woman sat on her own?And when you think about it, once again, the Queen was spot on.

She saw what was coming.You know in the old days, chums, when you think about it, you found out if you were popular by basically if you were a movie star.box office, or if you were a pop star, chart hits, discs, whatever they called it, right?Because they went up the charts.And if you were popular, even if it was a movie star, you would be sort of plastered all over photo play, movie star, or the newspapers.Now, of course, it's all about focus groups and how things are perceived and if it's the right thing, should you be appearing on it, you know?

What I find incredible, and if you've noticed this, When you now see celebrities who are promoting things, you notice, for instance, how those celebrities are now picking podcasts because they believe that that's the direction of travel where they can, say, sell a book.It doesn't really mean that much, in my opinion, because I would advise them if I was an agent or a manager, no, don't do that, because once you sit down for an hour with somebody, they're virtually gleaned whether they like you or not.You want to sell the book.The way to sell a book is to go out and actually do personal appearances and sign copies and just take questions from the audience.They need to feel part of it.But of course, this is the world of marketing.

The reason why I highlight this is, recently, as you know, His Royal Highness, the Prince of Wales, Prince William, popped up to great success, appearing on the Heart FM breakfast show.And this was alongside the presenters, Amanda Holden and Jamie Theakston.And the reason why this was a success really, as I said to you before, I think William was a bit done in, you know, he'd been to the football Turkey.And so his guard was down a little bit.You know, he let slip about Prince George boarding.He talked about the scones.

He talked about the jam fingers with Prince Louis in the car.

The fact that, of course, Princess Charlotte likes Taylor Swift.There were moments that I know from talking to the people around him where he just literally was saying because he's trying to wake up and we've all been there.Right.I mean, it's really, really difficult, isn't it?And the other point where this is an interesting, you know, where we're finding out where it's going.

Is that Williams?is rating incredibly well because he's becoming more and more relatable.He's always been a nice chap in my opinion but I can see now why people are really connecting with him.

Remember earlier this year when he popped into that wonderful bakery, I think it's a Cornish pasty place down in Cornwall, didn't they look delicious those pasties?I mean I could have gone down there myself, I thought wow, you know, but remember he answered the phone and he got it wrong and juicy and it was loose And you can't make that sort of publicity up.

You can't get it.It's just organic.It's natural.It's showing off the real personality.

And William has a good, strong personality.Catherine, the Princess of Wales, a little bit more guarded because obviously she gets nervous at things.People forget that essentially Catherine is shy.And I like the fact that she pushes forward.She will look you in the eye and shake.But I know she's a shy girl and there's nothing wrong with that.

It's sweet.But William has had more experience.

is he kind of knows behind the scenes now though they're looking at more of this because they're saying this is working incredibly well or just on the bigger spectrum people are really relating back to them it apparently they think they figure this is the focus group behind the scenes at the palace that they figure that they work better separately because when they're together it doesn't necessarily gel as much now i don't know about you i don't care whether they're together or separately it's just nice seeing them and the joy that they genuinely bring and that's not sycophantic William in the bakery was brilliant.

William on heart to me was brilliant.Catherine always is good fun.I love the way when she was trying to do the Italian, you thought, God, that must be nerve wracking.The world's looking at you.You've got to get it right.Behind the scenes, though, they've seen a shift in how the younger generation are now really warming to William and Catherine.

The thing is, I wanted to ask you on our Royal Appointment, have you and do you like this new openness?I do, but a lot of people say, oh, it's a little bit too revealing.What do you think?As ever, let me know.the comments below.

As we get to see more and more of Betty, Lily, whatever Markle decides to call her daughter, on a more regular basis, I kind of thought, I don't know about you chums, but I thought the picture in the wardrobe where Betty was at her feet with the dress or the pink outfit or whatever, What is that about, right?I mean, go into an event about social media or an exploitation of children on social media and then point it...She knows what she's doing.You know, Meghan Markle is not stupid.She knows that that gets people talking and that gets traction.And gets traction means, of course, there's a higher algorithm, analytic, all of that sort of stuff.

And it's interesting, in fact, because there was a piece in a magazine, I can't remember where it was now, but what was interesting about it was the defenders were saying, oh, well, this just drives it too her marketing and her website and I would say absolutely 100 % you're right it does but nobody's buying.right so it doesn't matter you know i've often said this it doesn't matter what you do the thing the key factor is the purchasing if they press add to basket and they now check out they buy then that's the deal nobody is buying the bookmarks the jams and everything like there's a slow turnover of curiosity people are influencers people who are being given it all that sort of stuff you know as we found out netflix had shed loads of the stuff right they couldn't wait to get shot of it so they gave it back so she's got to get rid of it somehow.The problem is that even influencers know, and this is part of your problem now with Markle, that they don't want to be seen as influencing something that is not influencing for them.You have to be sure, if you are an influencer, that this is going to sit with your audience, your brand, and really how it suits itself.Markle lingering by a wardrobe full of jam doesn't sell it, you know.A simple thing of making hot buttered toast

toast in a professional way beautifully lit with good cameras and lights and everything would do wonders to sell it but somehow Markle sitting back in a white blouse without a speck of jam on it is supposed to say this is working well.The reason why I highlight this is Markle is ramping up the use of Lily on a more regular basis.We've seen her over the last year around about 13 times, not as many with Archie.And the reason being is her focus group that she had until she couldn't pay for that, is the thing is, you know, she was told that actually the engagement on social media for female, younger, whatever, assistants, children, family, relatable moments is the word they use, right?Well, it works if you've got, you know, that.Hence the reason you saw Lily, for instance, allegedly taking their dancing video.

You saw her running across.You saw with Harry with the balloon for Valentine's.You see what I mean?Everything is about that.And that's truly the reason why you're going to see more and more of Lily and not of Archie.She believes that by going down that route, a very similar thing that really Victoria Beckham has done with her much older daughter, Harper.

It works because people can want to look at, oh what does the daughter look like?This is what Markle is banking on, revealing more and more of Lily's features, but hopefully in the same time making sure that you are looking and thinking tap, tap, tap, add to basket.But are you?The battle between William and Harry, you know, one of the things that I often think is how easy it is, the fact that when you look at that video, the documentary, whatever they made for Netflix, it was so easy to realise what was the true story and what wasn't.And part of the problem that you had with that, the true and the false narrative, was simply down to, you know, the drama that they had to insert.If you remember, when Markle sat down with the Variety magazine,

she very quickly shoved the blame onto the director.Do you remember?I think it was Liz Garbus at the time.And she said, well, we've given her our story and it's through her lens.all the euphemisms and everything that you need to get out of it so that it's not my fault.Look, you know, I didn't come up with this.

I'm just here.You see what I mean?And one of the things that really William was very angry about was the fact that he was utilised in that documentary.And he was utilised in a way that they felt it couldn't have a comeback.But William, I'm told from a brilliant source, knew that this was a complete fabrication and lie.If you remember the contrived argument with Meghan and Harry, where she flounces off and he shows her this text, remember?

And he says, I've just had a text from William, she reads it, she reacts and wanders off.True story is, William doesn't send texts.because he just doesn't.So they knew that from the off, that wouldn't be.What it could have been is a missed call, but it certainly was no detailed text.Now, what's interesting was, and I asked this question at that time, if they had that text, it's a little bit like the pictures of Lily with the Queen.

We would have had it leaked out by now.We would have seen it because as desperation takes hold, they would have had to spill that story.You see what I'm saying?Consequently, William knows, a little bit like the fight with the necklace and falling against the dog bowl, all of that was fabricated reality, as it were, to pump up that particular documentary.And, you know, we are never going to see this, because if he had it, it would have gone in the book.Harry knows, and again, for my sake, I have to say, allegedly, but Harry knows, but he went ahead with it, because I don't think he thought anything would ever come back.

But the bottom line is, William doesn'tsend texts.So who was sending it then?Was it fake or was it just a reality?You see how it works.As ever, chums, thank you so much for joining me for this week's Buy Royal appointment.
